The staff man was so kind! He let me in right before closing and I got to fully enjoy my time in the short time I had. He helped me take a photo at the end and I’m so grateful 🙏🏼 I’m glad I tried to go in even at closing because I wasn’t expecting to make it in time, but this was the highlight of my Nagoya trip. Beautiful architecture and valuable history on display for guests. Loved seeing how the writing from long ago was written from right to left on some signs and documents too. Really great experience.

Really beautiful architecture. No tickets required! I didn't know and felt a bit lost as the security guard did not speak English. But I did a quick online check and realised I could just walk around freely. There are exhibits in some of the rooms at the upper levels and basement.

Well preserved historical building. You can enter freely with no ticket. Self guided tour although displays are accompanied with descriptions in Japanese only.

Free & interesting building to walk around. In the basement, you can see solitary & group cells. We saw a lot of couples doing wedding photoshoots… so cute!

Admission free and plenty of displays to enjoy. An hour is probably enough to see everything. There are well preserved rooms like courtrooms and holding cells to get a glimpse of what it may look like when it was still in use

Very cool place to visit in Nagoya!! Absolutely stunning architecture! The building also used to serve as the police barracks and city jail. If you’re looking for a guide, contact “Kanji Hunter”!

I think they’re not really catering to foreign visitors. There weren’t many signs in English. Nor were there captions or explanations in English. The building itself, though, was beautiful.

It was a good place, however not perfect. Honestly 99.9% of the information is NOT English. You can watch photos, books, things but without understating a single word. From 3 floors, only 1 was used. The other two were inactive. The place was quite cozy, so was a good experience, but has a lot to improve.
