Nagoya City Science Museum

Nagoya City Science Museum is a fascinating place with one of the world’s largest planetariums. The life-size spaceship displayed at the front was truly impressive. I visited with my son and wife, and while the science content could easily take two full days to explore, we only had half a day, which felt a bit short. Still, the interactive exhibits and planetarium made it a memorable family experience.

The ticket is cheap. There are so many to see and interact with inside. Not only for kids to learn but also for adults. I got to try the super chilling experience that you need to get the ticket to get in. -30 degrees Celsius is crazy haha. The T. rex fossil is stunning!

Honestly surprised, very good value for 400 yen, spent over 3+ hours and would reccomend for adults and kids. Really great variety of sciences, biology, genes, maths and physics, to even household and every day life. Although all of the reading was in Japanese, most of the interactive parts had English or were intuitive to watch or do. One negative though, all of the kids running around like monkeys. The planitarium would have been nice to do but many of the sessions were booked out by school excursions. If you want to do this for an extra 400 yen you should book in advance but 3 hours of the regular exhibit is plenty.

Very educational museum with plenty of hands-on exhibits and live demonstrations. Can easily spend the good part of a day with young kids. Highlights include the cold freeze room where you get to experience with the right gear -30 degree celsius temperatures - recommend coming at 930 or queuing before 1pm for the timed ticket as limited slots for the experience.

This was an interesting museum with exhibits on many sciences and how it's integrated into daily life. It's a big museum and has a lot of interactive exhibits. It was a bit overwhelming because I also got a ticket for the planetarium. Since the planetarium exhibit was scheduled and I was instructed to be there 15 minutes before start, I rushed through many areas. Most of the museum was multilingual. The planetarium announcements were in English, but the presentation was in Japanese only. It was interesting because the constellations and starmapping seemed to be different that what I'm familiar with in the west. They also seemed to focus on Australian skies, but still gave a good presentation about how the stars look from the world's perspective. From what Japanese I did understand, it was an educational presentation for older children and adults. The presentation was 50 minutes and was the best part of my museum visit. I was disappointed that the Museum Shop was closed because it was under renovations.

This place is wonderful, I really believe it will take all day to fully experience it and even then you'll want to come back to see more. It has a lot of fun educational hands on games and so many interesting exhibits! You should definitely sign up to go into the Antarctica room too.

I give it 4 stars for the planetarium!! The exhibits were a little old school, quite nostalgic of those I visited when I was in school (during the last century..) Still,a good place to whole way an hour or two! Don't bother with the show, unless you understand Japanese. It's like a PowerPoint presentation, telling the story in Japanese only. I really think the show needs an update...

Amazigh interactive museum for only 400yen! Not all exhibitions have englisch translations but because you experience them by trying them out it's ok. You can spend a whole day in there without getting bored and also amazing for kids. There are floors with a "cafeteria" where you can buy drinks because bringing in any food/ drinks is not allowed. They have different themes like dinosaurs, how machine works, space stuff etc. And if you do a survey at the and (2-5min) you get a clear folder with a fossil r Print as a present

As a person that really don't care about museum, I thought this is definitely one of the better ones. I think it's also cause it's more of an interactive science museum that makes it a lot better. It's definitely a good place for kids and adults as they have a floor dedicated for kids. I didn't go to the planetarium but I'm sure it would be pretty neat as well. If you're in Nagoya and lacking an activity, I definitely feel it's worth a visit. I

This is a fabulous science museum that is great for families with children. There's a whole 2nd floor that is very hands-on for kids. But the upstairs exhibits were more interesting. There's a giant Nagoya City model with a train system in it. Next to it is a cyclone exhibit and they do a demo every hour or 2. Then next to that is an engineering classroom with where students design robots for a soccer match. Really interesting stuff. It's a must-see. The architecture alone is cool. Please stop by and visit!

Fun place to be both young and old. Planetarium is only in Japanese. The freezing room wasn't bad. The light show you can just hangout inside and relax.

I have been a planetarium member since 2nd grade all the way up to 12th grade. The current planetarium is incomparable to what we had 40+ years ago. The seating is the first class and it even swivels. I wish they offered the English narration option, but I don't think it will be offered any time soon. The science museum is not a side attraction either. You and your kids will have a blast with all the hands on exhibits.

Great museum. Very fun and interactive. My favorite part it the planetarium. The shows & tours are in Japanese though, so if you don't understand the language, it might not be as fun. Still, I recommend it. If you do plan on going to the planetarium, be sure to check the show schedule & availability in advance on their website. Again, the website is Japanese only for the most part.
