Fantastic roadside bbq spot! Chef was so kind and had us laughing in no time. It is cash only so come prepared! Huge portions - chicken was phenomenal. Can’t wait to come back and try the ribs!

Stopped for lunch, the BBQ was the best! The guys working there were very friendly. The serving was huge. Between two of us, we still have leftovers. And again, the food was amazing. The ribs were amazing!!

Google
Small marketplace along the Road to Hana consisting of a handful of eateries and shops. Parking is limited. The businesses here run on island-time so it's hard to figure out what their operating hours are.

We got there late so our choice was fish n chips or pizza... down fo da fish! Hubbs n I both got fried fish... nice cook on da fish, very tasty, so were da fries. We got mango tea which tasted and had texture like a milk tea... still refreshing. Enjoying this meal, it started to rain which, to me, was the perfect ending to a VERY late lunch or early dinner! Everyone at the shops, full of aloha, on our way out we got banana bread, checked out local art, great little stop to and from Hana!!

The best porks ribs we’ve ever had! We stopped for Huli Huli Chicken and Pork Ribs and we were amazed at how incredible the ribs were. They’ll give you the recipe for the rub if you ask, but I have to believe the slow-cooking is what makes these ribs and the chicken so special. It comes with steamed veggies. We also went next door for a fresh coconut drink prepared to order. When you’re done, they’ll split it in half and dig out the fresh meat. This is so worth the wait (on the road) and the stop.

[urgent need help] We were here on 23rd May around 2:30pm and dropped an iPhone. If anyone sees this within the next 1-2 days, can you please check with the hosts about a phone and reply to this chat? Now for the place itself: The place has really great food and people that make the road to Hana even more memorable. Cameron serves up really delicious Huli huli chicken.

Google
Nahiku caffe is like everything in Maui, kind of old and need maintenance, but I thing it’s the Hawaiian stile to keep everything like historic or freeze in the time, Food looks good and also you can by some souvenir Why 4 ⭐️ just because my capuchino was cold but taste very good. Services it’s great, friendly, smiling 😊 and professional

Yelp
I can get a touch arch about Q that does fall into the established categories. May it's time to add a category: Hawaiian Barbecue. HHHB serves up mammoth portions of deliciously, kiawe smoked, grill finished pork ribs. A little more "al dente" if you will than I typically expect of the finest exemplars of other ribs but it didn't feel like an error but rather a choice aimed at reflecting the hard scrabble truth of Hana. People here are hardier and work harder. To live and do business in Hana you gotta want it and so it's right that the bones of these veritable pork chops don't yield their bounty of meat as easily as some others. Their juiciness and singular flavor are worthy of suspending assumptions and expectations. The fat is perfectly rendered, meat is perfectly succulent. HHHB ribs are the clear and unchallenged star of the plate, served against a blank canvas of white rice and steamed veggies. Don't worry the ribs carry their teammates beautifully. I wound up at HHHB in reverse, in a near drive by, my eye having caught the BBQ sign at the last possible minute, moment before noon. As soon as I ordered, the pit master validated my order, "The ribs should be perfect!" He was right. Eat here. Thanks HHHB.

Yelp
Best tasting food had during my 5 days in Maui! Had the BBQ chicken with rice and veggies. Friendly atmosphere, nice people and great service!

Yelp
Best chicken ever. So tender and tasty. A must visit place when in Hana. Also the dining on the waterfront, so Beautiful.

Yelp
On our way to Hana, this was our first food stop. And it was the smell of the yummy BBQ got us. We ordered pork ribs with rice and a side of vegetables. Really smokey, juicy, flavorful ribs. We loved each bite! There's a coconut stall on the side and other food options. Ran by a local family and I love how friendly they are. Definitely a must stop!! Grab yourself a plate full of yummy goodness!!

Yelp
TOURIST TRAP! This is NOT the Huli chicken you're looking for. Dry and overcooked. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 20 min to Kopi red sand beach. For the exact same price, chicken there is tender, moist, flavorful with a slight smokey flavor, and family run. Only open until they sell out. White meat was still moist 2 days later!

Yelp
Pork ribs were a bit salty but the rice and veggies balanced it out. I like that they used Japanese rice. The veggies are boiled. It is cash only. $25/plate either pork or chicken. Extra $ if you want combo or more portions. Basic drinks were $2. There are more parkings in the back. We went on a Monday so the port a potties were closed. There are clean restrooms down the road called Hana farm. The folks working there are friendly. Understand that food options are limited and they are in the mountains serving you food so $25 is fair since other restaurants are closed on Mondays. Bring wet wipes bc there aren't sinks to wash your hands.

Yelp
This chicken and rib shack is now known as Hana Huli Huli BBQ. The ribs are my recommendation, with fall-off-the-bone tenderness, well seasoned and barbecued to a nice char on the outside. While I've heard there are other good BBQ options on the Road to Hana, this was a good choice on a day when the well-regarded Aloha 'Aina was taking a rest. Note that pricing may vary. While you might see menu photos online, there were no posted prices when we visited on a Monday, and the charge was $25 per plate (about twice as much as shown from recent photos), which they certainly seemed to command given the remote location. Note: on our visit, there were no restroom s nor handwashing sinks offered to the public, which was not ideal for a restaurant. They were directing customers to the next rest stop 10 minutes away. Cash only.

Yelp
Delicious fresh bbq chicken and what not. An awesome local spot when you're passing through and kind of a neat experience to say the least. I don't really know what else to say if you're reading this and checked out the photos in the Yelp page, you get the gist, but all in all, definitely worth stopping by. Cheers and aloha

Yelp
I absolutely loved stopping here on the Road to Hana. The experience was so authentically Hawaiian and I was lucky enough to get there just in time and get their last order of ribs. To say they were AMAZING is an extreme understatement!! There is a review saying these are Costco ribs. I'm assuming those people have no taste buds and don't know good food. I was able to share the plate with a couple friends bc the portion size was so big. I got 7 or 8 ribs, rice, and veggies for $25. The guys there were so amazingly friendly and (i think) gave me a few extra ribs. It's places and people like this that make me truly LOVE this island and fall in love with the Aloha spirit.

Yelp
This place is located at the Nahiku Marketplace deep in the Road to Hana. It is cash only like most of the places there. They have huli ribs and chicken that are smoked right in front of the eatery on a large grill. The food is fair priced and you get a ton of it. I got the ribs and I was not a big fan. They were ok, but looked a lot better than they tasted. The vegetables were good and it is one of the few eateries in the marketplace with a decent dining area.

Mike D.

Yelp
This place is a must stop on the road to Hana! Heck make this place your destination! We had a bbq rib plate with rice and veggies. Everything was amazing and the portion size was generous. This is the best food on the road to Hana do not miss it!

Devyn G.

Yelp
Bar none, the best ribs I've ever had. The people who work here are also incredibly kind.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I didn't get to try this place. The owner/cook was very rude before I could get my order in. My wife and I showed up with our two year old toddler and my son was walking with me up to the stand. My son is fascinated by equipment and machinery, so he stepped off to the side where the BBQ equipment was and the owner saw him and got mad that he was heading that way. I wasn't going to let my son get close to it and I was already calling him back to me. I told the owner I wasn't going to let my son go over there to touch anything, and the owner rudely said that I obviously am allowing it. So I just apologized and grabbed my kid. After that exchange there was no way I was going to stick around, so we left. The guy was very aggressive in his tone and the situation didn't warrant that sort of aggression. He could've asked me nicely to get my son, but he must've already been in a bad mood when he lashed out at us. Bad customer service up front isn't a good look.

Kate L.

Yelp
My husband after eating the ribs: "this was the best food we've had our entire trip!" Nahiku marketplace is a cute little stop on the way to Hana, and this BBQ spot totally won us over. It's low tech and pretty basic, but the chicken and ribs are smoked right in front of you and the food is crazy fresh. You pick your meat and pick your side (rice or veggies), and then there's a choice of maybe five different soft drinks. I practically scarfed down my side of rice -- it was piping hot and perfectly sticky -- and my husband pretty much licked his plate clean! If you're hungry at this point on your drive, definitely stop and check this place out. Bonus: this stand accepts credit cards!

Yelp
Want to know a successful short-term business model? Rent a store front along a popular tourist thoroughfare, go down to Costco and buy all the $5 rotisserie chickens and rib racks available, pick up a 50lb bag of rice and frozen vegetable medley, spend another $10 on the bbq sauce bundle they have their, and pretend like you've got some artisan bbq stand. Charge $17 for the chicken plate and $25 for the bbq plate (basically a 500% mark up) and convince people they are getting authentic food when it's really just Costco staples not even with the benefit of any additional seasoning. I pride myself on avoiding "tourist trap" food service businesses, but totally got stung by this one. Every other restaurant we've visited while on the island has been wonderful, mostly because they came via friend recommendations. Avoid this place (and the fish taco place next booth over) and either head over to Hana Farms or just wait until you get back to Paia.

Yelp
Everything smelled great, the barbecue sitting right out front of the location puffs out smoke like a chimney with scents of pork ribs and Huli Huli chicken. Timing is everything because when we arrived they informed us they only had one plate of chicken left. We got lucky enough that the ribs had just finished being cooked as we were ordering. I ordered the ribs and rice and my father got the same with the "vegetables" aka canned Bushes Baked Beans. Ribs were decent, nothing crazy but damn good enough to pull over whenever you pass by because there is almost nothing out there unless you want to eat tropical fruit all day. Total for two rib plates came out to $26. Great service though I'll give em that.

Aaron C.

Yelp
Had the huli huli chicken and ribs. Ribs were great, chicken was good. I like my huli chicken more smokey, but was tasty anyway. Service was excellent.

G. L.

Yelp
I had the ribs the first day and they were great! The BBQ sauce is Sweet Baby Ray's, which is a decent option. The next day I tried the Huli Huli chicken which was good. Loved the smoke flavor of the ribs!

Rosylen M.

Yelp
He has teriyaki or garlic beef sticks and both make delicious snacks. He also has whole (or half) huli chickens that are perfect for dinner when you finally make it to Hana (his stand is at the Nahiku Marketplace a few miles before you get to Hana) and don't have time to make a full on meal. With one of Eric's chickens and a six pack and some cracker bread from Hasegawa General Store in Hana, you've got a meal! And the guy is cute! I was told by one of my fellow travelers that me and my sisters were just smitten with (by?) him. But really, the chicken is good, the beef is good. That is all you need to know.
