You can’t directly reach the place by car; however, that hasn’t stopped it from being a favorite spot for rich people, VIPs, politicians, and businessmen, many of whom walk a short distance just to dine here. That itself says a lot about the place. They offer unlimited non-veg meals for just ₹200, which is definitely value for money considering the variety available. You’ll find multiple non-veg dishes, and while the quantity per serving is slightly less, the taste is good and satisfying. The place is decent and clean, and the service is good and well-managed. Overall, it’s a nice spot for a hearty lunch, especially if you’re near Chepauk. Recommended to try at least once. 🍗🍛

Nair mess is a well k ow establishment. They serve veg meals with non veg sides. The portions are small but the prices are justified for same But the food above all tastes great. We went there a little late so most of the items on the list were out of stock. The service was a little slow and we had to call them for every small thing but that may be case to case basis as we had gone around the end of the m2al time. The veg meal items are also delicious. The prawn fry was outstanding and so was the omelette made in coconut oil. All in all a must visit ans go there in time.

Nair mess is definitely a must experience restuarant. The food was very delicious. The vanjaram fish fry was the thinnest and juiciest one that I have ever tried. Mutton fry and prawn masala were worth the try. The mutton gravy was unique in taste with good and soft mutton pieces in them. The only downside is the ever crowded atmosphere, a bit expensive menu and a lack of proper parking.

One of Chennai’s best hidden gems for non-vegetarian food. The biriyani, fish fry, and variety of side dishes are absolute must tries, packed with authentic flavors. Portions are on the smaller side and it is slightly on the expensive side, but the quality and taste make it worth it. While the meals were just average, the experience is elevated by the very friendly and welcoming staff. A great spot for anyone looking for premium non-veg dishes. Highly recommended.

I had veg meals along with mutton kurma, mutton fry, mutton brain fry, vanjaram fish fry, prawn thokku, mutton thalakari, sura puttu, fish curry and an omlette. The meals along with mutton curry was amazing. The piece in mutton curry could have had more meat. The brain fry, vanjaram fish fry and prawn thokku were really good. The mutton fry had long ginger pieces which was wierd. The sura puttu was also good. The omlette tasted good along with rice. It had a good coconut flavor as it was cooked in coconut oil. The thalakari was decent. The fish curry was very bad though. I felt it didn't have enough flavor and it was somewhere in the middle between Kerala style fish curry and South Tamilnadu fish curry. The vanjaram fish fry was ₹310 which felt expensive. Overall around ₹1000 per person is a pretty expensive, but food and taste wise it's good certainly!

I had veg meals. Quality was outstanding. No cost cutting at any place. Free Aquafina mineral water bottles. Veg meals had very limited items but whatever was provided was of outstanding quality in homely taste. Price was very justified for veg meals. It would be nice if they increase price of veg meals and add additional items. Sad to see that no matta rice is available. Sad also to see no kerala appalam for the meals. Understandable that it is marketed as a mess. Staff were very good Seating arrangements are also good. Narrow staircase but buildings in the area are all old so it's understandable.

Probably the first time I stepped out of a restaurant without a bloated tummy or acidity. The rice served was absolutely comforting. The meal had a mutton gravy which had a solid piece of mutton. As add on, I had omelette and prawns masala. One may feel the portion is little - but at ₹100+, it’s fine. Fish curry was yummy. Overall a good meal, far better than the ones around.
