Overall the atmosphere here was great. Food was spectacular and there is a menu that helps for English speakers. Mackerel special was beautifully cooked, but overall you won't be disappointed with dining here. Personally, my food highlights from Japan / Tokyo. Service was great and fast given the seating time is two hours and they are strict on it. We went later, so it was easier to stay longer. A must visit spot in a very cool neighbourhood.

The atmosphere is good, staff is not as friendly as expected *but not rude*, 80% of the customer I saw was tourist. If you ask me the food is on the average side with the price. Not going to fall to the category of a trap but definitely have better option out there.

The entrance is rather concealed, making tbis feel like a hidden and secret place. Good food and friendly staff. The atmosphere is great and lively, just what an izakaya should be.

20% service charge + table charge is a little insane. But the food was high quality & delicious.

Nakame no Teppen Honten was an unforgettable dining experience that felt both exclusive and theatrical. Entering through a secret door sets the stage for an adventure. The the vibrant energy of the waitresses and chefs adds to the lively atmosphere, making you feel instantly welcomed. The highlight of the meal was the tuna seared with charcoal. The smoky flavor was like no charcoal fish I’ve ever eaten! a simple dish done exceptionally well. Each bite was a testament to the quality and craftsmanship behind the preparation. We also recommend the grilled mackerel, which was expertly cooked and bursting with flavor. Overall, Nakame no Teppen Honten is a 10/10 experience that combines exceptional food, energetic service, and a unique ambiance. If you're in the area, this hidden gem is a must-visit! You need to pre book so make sure you book so you don’t miss out!

We visited on our first night in Japan and it remains a highlight of the trip. Delicious food served in a fun and warm environment. Worth booking. Very good value for the experience.
