We stayed at Hotel Nakar during our 3-day stay in Palma at the end of 2017. It's on the western edge of the old center city as you come down Jaime III, so it can be easy to miss the entrance, which is just a glass sliding door. The hotel itself is really a boutique - the front desk is just one person sitting on a stool at a high-top counter, and you have a relatively small elevator that takes you up to your floor. As it is with many European hotels, the hallways and rooms can feel a bit cozy, but the fact that you have modern finishes and amenities certainly helps. The room itself had an excellent shower and a lot of countertop space by the sink, and the bed itself was very comfortable. There isn't a ton of space to store luggage, but the closet space was ample enough that for our short trip, we had no issues. One downside is that you are right next to a residential building where you have no privacy with the shades open (or much of a view, given the disrepair it is in) - so you won't much enjoy spending too much time in the room if you are expecting a view. That said, the top floor - where the breakfast buffet and the afternoon bar are located - has a gorgeous view of the city, and when you are eating breakfast in the morning, the sunlight pouring in is very rejuvenating, particularly in the winter. The breakfast buffet (included with the stay here) is pretty solid, with a decent spread of typical Western-style foods available. I liked the fact that fresh-cooked over-easy eggs were available, although given their popularity, they were usually the least-stocked item. I found the orange juice to also be a bit on the tart side, but it was still drinkable and definitely better than the concentrated juice that still infiltrates many European dining establishments.
Although it's not the perfect hotel, we enjoyed our time here a lot, and given its centrality to the main shopping districts in town, as well as to many of the sights to see in the historic district, I would recommend Nakar Hotel as a good choice to stay at for visitors. The modern finishes, combined with typical European coziness, makes it a solid spot for a stay in Palma.
