Nam Nao National Park Campground

Nam Nao was very enjoyable and cold. The crisp mountain air was refreshing as we hiked through the lush green forests. The sound of the rushing water from the nearby stream was soothing, and the sight of the colorful wildflowers was breathtaking. We set up camp because all houses were rented our, clear blue sky above and bright stars at nights will do their job with your soul. As the sun began to set, we gathered around the crackling campfire, roasting marshmallows and sharing stories. It was a perfect end to a perfect day in Nam Nao.

A couple of km from the main road so you can get here on any bus that goes between khon kaen and phitsanulok. The campground has a restaurant and snack shop which opens until about 19.00, maybe 20.00 on busy weekends. The nature trail starts from next to the visitor centre. The campground is sectional and they only open the farthest areas when it is busy. There is a charging point at the campground outside the rescue building (look for the small ambulance). There is a free water refill point 50 metres across the road from there. You can rent tents and sleeping bags, mats etc. Try and arrive before 19.00 to be sure they are still open.
