I arrived about 10–15 minutes before opening and there were already a few groups waiting in line. The staff took our orders even before the restaurant opened, which was really efficient. Once inside, we were seated right away and the staff cooked the okonomiyaki directly at the table — no need to do it yourself. It was served piping hot straight from the grill, and the flavor was amazing! Eating it fresh and sizzling made it even better. Definitely worth the wait and a must-try if you’re in the area.

This place is fantastic. The food is incredibly delicious, the service is fast, and the whole experience is just great. Even if there’s a line when you arrive (and there probably will be), they move people through quickly and efficiently. The quality you get for the price is downright criminal. Definitely worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

We had our first okonomiyaki experience in Osaka here! The queue was pretty long, but we were lucky to get in quickly, just a heads-up, it can take a while. The food was really good and reasonably priced. One thing that bothered me a bit was that the person at the front didn’t speak much English and came off a bit rude. But the staff member who served our food was really friendly, which made up for it. Overall, it was a great experience and definitely worth trying if you’re in Osaka!

Google
The okonomiyaki was delicious, especially the scallops — fresh and flavorful. The onion beef tendon dish was a standout, very special and absolutely delicious. Personally, I found the yakisoba a little too sweet for my taste, but overall, every dish was well-prepared and tasted great.

Google
Unfortunately a well known tourist attraction, therefore you’ve to expect long waiting times. Anyway the service was well organized so that they took your orders before you even got a table inside. The food was nevertheless amazingly delicious, freshly prepared right on your table. Try to avoid typical meal times to prevent too much waiting time.

Google
If you are craving okonomiyaki and yakisoba, consider visiting this spot! The okonomiyaki and yakisoba is one of the best that I ever had. There are various options / toppings to mix and match. However, the overall taste and experience is comparable to other places I been to. Given the hype, expect a considerable waiting time of around 1 hour based on my experience. If you don't want to wait, I think there are numerous other places that would offer similar experience, so I wouldn't worry too much on missing out. The service is alright, the staff is quick and efficient in cooking / preparing your order. Not the most friendliest / warmest bunch but they get the work done.

The worst part about this was the queue outside. Thank god it moved relatively fast. The okonomiyaki was perfectly cooked with a well seasoned batter and not overly sauced. The scallops with brown butter and soy sauce offered a pleasing mix of textures, with the scallops having a satisfying bite, complemented by the enoki mushrooms and the crunch of the sprouts. I got the counter seat and saw the chef in action. He's almost a one man show and I was in awe of his skills. He was already so busy handling all the different orders but still paid attention to serving me outside of what I would consider his job scope. He kindly handed me an ice cold towel when he noticed I was finishing my meal. All my stars goes to him.

Google
Worth all the hype honestly, the Michelin guide mention is fully deserved. By far the best Okonomiyaki I've ever had. Perfectly balanced with a mix of so many delicious ingredients, and cooked to perfection by the skilled staff. Although you should expect a decent amount of waiting, restaurant does a good job making it relatively quicker, by taking your order while you're in line and ensuring that you get your order almost as soon as you sit down. Service was quick and efficient. An added discovery at Ajinoya was the excellent combination of mustard and Okonomiyaki! A very unexpectedly good combo. On top of all this, the restaurant is so reasonably priced, making this restaurant an excellent value for money option. If I had one complaint, it would be that I wish they were more generous with the Katsuobushi / Bonito flakes.

Yelp
Excellent food. Given their popularity, it is a no-nonsense line where you line up, look over the menu and order before you sit, then sit and have the staff cook for you. I wish they were "less rude" because the staff keep saying "No touch!" each time after he preps or cooks or flip the food. Once, in jest, i beat him to the punch to say " I no touch!" but the humor did not go through. Anyways, service was amazing given how busy these staffers need to be to keep it going. I enjoyed the popular seafood okonomiyaki, Osaka style. Others in my party went for the two-item okonomiyaki. Upon completion, they put on the katsuobosh, nori, and sauce--you can ask for more at that time. They do have the Hiroshima style available as one item; they do not have monjayaki. We ended up adding the yakisoba as we saw many other tables have it. Highly recommend! Normally they would cook it at your table but--to keep the line moving--they prepared separately and brought over. It was delicious (although my love is still with Hiroshima style)!

Yelp
Came here during my stay in Osaka and it was WORTH THE WAIT! It was the coolest okonomiyaki experience I've had in Japan. They have helpful English menus and servers come to cook everything for you at a grill on your table. If you're looking for a unique and tasty experience in Osaka, you HAVE to try this place! I highly recommend the 3 mini okonomiyaki option because it allows you to try different flavors without getting too full.

Yelp
While planning my Osaka trip, I discovered Ajinoya Okonomiyaki on YouTube. Be prepared for a wait--there's always a long line out the door. We ended up waiting about 1 hour and 15 minutes for lunch, and it was absolutely worth it. Ajinoya is, of course, famous for its okonomiyaki. Having previously enjoyed these savory pancakes in Hiroshima (yes, they're a completely different style), we knew how massive they can be. So, my husband and I decided to share one okonomiyaki and an order of grilled scallops. One of the best parts of the experience is watching the chefs prepare the okonomiyaki right in front of you, from start to finish. You get to see all the fresh ingredients that go into making it, and I really applaud the chefs for personally cooking at each table. They even ask about your preferences for toppings like seaweed, sauce, and condiments, customizing it to your taste. Even though I usually don't care for much mayo, having okonomiyaki in Osaka is a unique and delightful experience. We tried another okonomiyaki restaurant during our trip, but Ajinoya was hands-down the better choice. Side note: the scallops cooked with various mushrooms were also fantastic! Just a heads-up, this spot is cash-only, so come prepared--and make sure to give yourself enough time to wait in line. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Wait times are LONG. And I mean LONG. We underestimated the line, thinking it wouldn't be bad. But, with a line out the door, we waited close to 2 hours to be seated. Pro-tip: if you don't mind, they also accept takeout orders if you want to have a quicker experience - just talk to an employee when they come out. Either way, it was worth the wait! The yakisoba and okonomiyaki were some of my favorite things during our entire trip! I'm honestly not that big a fan of either, but this Ajinoya definitely changed my mind. It was an umami-blast; the noodles were soft, seafood in the okonomiyaki was fresh. Once we were able to get in, we were out within a matter of 20-30 minutes since it didn't take too long. There's a decent amount of tables inside, though we ended up being seated at the bar. This was a cooler experience IMO, since they cooked right in front of us. NOTE: Cash only!

Yelp
Okonomiyaki is a savory pancake where the batter is mixed with seafood, meats, cabbage, and (sometimes) noodles. It's savory and topped with sweet and creamy sauces. Ajinoya is probably the most famous place for okonomiyaki in Osaka and the lines reflect that. We waited about an hour to get seated. You order while you're waiting in line so that you can get started as soon as you take a seat. They cook the meal for you tableside. I'd recommend that you ask for extra sauce. I think that it this absolutely something that's worth trying. Please make sure you bring about 5000-8000 yen cash with you for your group because it's cash only. Refer to my pictures of the menu for current pricing.

Yelp
This was the best okonomiyaki I had in Osaka. There's a hugeeee line out the door but I think it was worth the wait. Within reason. They came down the line taking our orders. I came by myself! A few minutes later they came to find me and had a seat available for me. I lucked out. I came around 8:15 or 8:30pm and they close at 10pm. I think I sat around 9-9:15pm so I still waited a good amount. I actually think everyone in line with me was forced to do a takeout order instead because there was no line by the time I exited the restaurant around 9:30-9:40pm. Anyway, it just tasted different than the other okonomiyaki places in a positive way. The chef asked if I wanted mustard, seaweed, and all the condiments and I let him do the thing. I honestly didn't want the mustard (not a big fan) but since it was so special here I was like I should just go with the recommendation. And it was a good choice! The okonomiyaki was full of flavor with every bite, and not overburnt like other places. I like the cabbage, the egg, the seaweed seasoning, the seafood, ahh I'm craving another one while I write this! Pay at the counter after you eat!

Yelp
Overhyped and honestly, I wasn't that impressed. I had found a hole in the wall place in Kyoto that I thought was better. Also I did not appreciate the gruff restaurant manager... I appreciate the hustle, but take a chill pill my dude. It's later in the evening and there's only another party of 3 in line. Don't get your panties in a twist.
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
Came here with my sisters at 5:15pm and there was a line already. One of the staffs was taking orders for the customers waiting in line. Each person from every party has to order a dish. There were 3 of us so we had to order 3 dishes. Waited about 45mins before we were seated. Inside the restaurant was pretty small and cramped. The chair I was sitting at had a storage under like a storage ottoman which was pretty cool. It kept our belongings from getting dirty and smelly from the food. We ordered Akashiyaki with corn, Ajinoya's Mix and Mixed Okonomiyaki. Akashiyaki with corn was the best. Both Okonomiyaki were pretty good but not a fan of their sauce. Service was quick and attentive. Overall, we had a good experience.

Yelp
Arrived a little before peak dinner time, and the line was not too long. We ordered okinomiyaki and yakisoba, both were incredible. We had counter seats right in front of the cooktop where we watched the chef prepare our food. It seems like such simple comfort food, but it was a flavor bomb. We especially loved the super smokey bonito flakes. Would definitely return! By the time we left, the line was much longer and we had arrived when we did.

Yelp
Had to try one of Osaka's signature dishes, the okonomiyaki, while in Osaka. This is a pretty popular okonomiyaki and soba noodle restaurant located on the 2nd floor of a building, one street over from the main Dotonbori pedestrian street. Long line ups at night. We went there a bit earlier (before 5pm) and the wait wasn't too bad, less than 30 min. Interior looks like it can fit 30ish customers. Each table has its own flat-top grill which the staff uses to prepare your okonomiyaki or noodles. I ordered the signature okonomiyaki which has pork, squid, octopus, shrimp, and minced meat along with cabbage. All of that gets mixed together on the grill with the batter to make little mountain of a savory pancake. On top you get the okonomiyaki sauce which is both savory and sweet, some special mayo, some fish flakes and green garnish. It looks super greasy and heavy, but the batter is pretty light, and the sweet sauce helps to offset the other ingredients. For about 1500 yen, it's definitely enough food for me. Enjoyed the food overall.

Yelp
This is the best Okonomiyaki restaurant ever . I've been there the first time in 5 years . It's still good .

Yelp
food is good wait is too long is it worth it? the wait? i don't think so. i had this dish at other places and its pretty much the same. don't let the hype fool you. it's good but not with long wait. i waited an hour on line. i was bamboozled.
google avatar

Chad K.

Yelp
Waited about an hour! Staff does come out let you see the menu as you get closer to the door they take your order. If you get to sit at the flat top area it a better experience! Not only do you get to see everyone's food being made but you get to leave your okonomiyaki on the flat top and let it stay hot. Be warn it will get crunchy if you leave it on to long. We ordered the Hiroshima style. It is cash only so make sure you got yen.

Roberto D.

Yelp
Their was an extremely long line & it took around 45 mins to get in. With that said, the staff were very friendly & helpful. Watching them cook the Okonmiyaki was very entertaining and their was a lot of skill set involved. The food was actually really good w/ great flavor and extremely filling. I highly recommend this restaurant which is evident by the long lines .

Yelp
We knew this restaurant was popular and we were there at 5:45pm and was told the wait was about an hour. While we waited in line, we were given menus and shortly after, someone would take our order while we're still in line. We were pleasantly surprised that we were seated about an hour. They quickly brought over our drinks and our food shortly after. We ordered the house special yakisoba and the 3 mini Okonomiyakis. It was so fun having the grill and having the food prepared right in front of us. The food was amazing - best yakisoba I've ever had. So flavourful and loved that it was piping hot. The only regret was that we didn't order more food because everything was delicious.

Yelp
So yummy! We came with some friends and loved the food here. The service was fantastic and the wait staff is super attentive. The ambiance was quiet cause we came around 4pm to skip the dinner rush. Would definitely come back whenever we are craving a hearty Chinese style meal!

Yelp
Unfortunately the "influencers" and Instagrammers know about this place now that Japan has opened back up (before you jump at me, yes I'm a foreigner too but I eat my food and leave after) and take hours there instead of just eating and leaving like you should, hogging up space, which makes the wait times up to 2 hours. That being said, it's worth the wait. It's incredible. Food was ready fast and the portions are very generous. Of course we ate and then left and all the "influencers" were all still there, taking macro photos of every last piece of green onion. Enjoy the food and leave so everyone else can have a chance.

Yelp
One of, if not the most popular spot in Osaka for Okonomiyaki!!! When in Osaka, they say you have to eat the most popular dish which is Okonomiyaki. This restaurant once was Michelin Rated but lost its star a couple years ago. That doesn't stop the lines from queueing though. We were lucky and arrived at the line where it said 45 minutes "from here." True to form, it did take 45 minutes (one of my pictures posted is from tHe 45min mark) to get seated. The sign also notifies you their #2 location is just around the corner, so you can make your decision from that point which I think is super helpful. However, I hear location #2 around the corner they do not cook it in front of you, so beware if you want to forgo that experience. While in line, you will have a chance to see the menu (passed to you when the people in front of you are done). Once you get to the top off the stairs, someone will come take your order. Make sure you get your FULL ORDER IN, because once you finalize your order, you cannot order more once you are seated. Once seated your order is cooked in front of you. It takes about 15 minutes, so all you get to do is salvinate (yes I love making up words) at other people's food as they are being made and eaten. Once our dishes were given the "OK" to be eaten, we dug in and it was SUPER COMFORT FOOD. Delicious, heartwarming, smile enducing goodness. It doesn't blow your mind, but it sure makes you happy. That's the best way I can describe it. We had beef and cheese, and also noodles and wish we ordered the large instead of the small but oh well! More reason to come back! Fast, lukewarm service, very well and fairly priced. A super worth it experience. ENJOY!

Yelp
If you're in town Osaka this is a must. There are actually two locations but this one is the original and definitely the more popular of the two. We came around 5-6pm and there was a line that went down the stairs. We probably waited a total of 30-45 minutes but It was definitely worth the wait. CASH ONLY and once you order you can't order more options inside due to the high demand of the restaurant so make sure you order your fill before checking out. Service is ok. Nothing extraordinary but that's expected Out of a popular place that has a quick turn over. If you're in the area and want to try authentic food from Osaka and you have some time to kill definitely come here and give it a try.

Kate T.

Yelp
Don't be intimidated by the line! It moves quite quickly, but be sure to get there early for dinner, as the line will close around 8pm. The inside has high energy but not too crowded. We got a booth but counter looked fun to watch the chef cook. Service was quick and okonomiyaki was cooked perfectly!
google avatar

Phil O.

Yelp
Well if you're visiting in Osaka you have definitely gotta try okonomyaki and this is one of the spots to try it at. There's usually a long line, at least for dinner. The place is located upstairs and has a great atmosphere to eat and have some drinks. Definitely a spot to try.
google avatar

Yelp
When it comes to okonomiyaki, nobody in Osaka does it better than Ajinoya. It'd be a shame to come to this mega metropolis and not try their home town specialty that westerns would describe as a Japanese pizza/pancake hybrid, with lots of mayo... oh yes, the mayo. On any given night, you are bound to experience a bit of a wait at this particular restaurant. A line had formed with tourists and foreigners alike so you know that it must be good. While waiting, one of the workers will come out and take your order so they can prepare it as you wait. There is an English menu here which is a plus! After about 30 minutes (and some chu-his knocked back to stay warm), we were finally inside and ready to devour our okonomiyaki. Unlike other restaurants, they take care of all the hard part and prepare the dish right in front of you tappenyaki style. We ordered two of their specialty okonomiyaki (~¥1200) and some yakisoba since one of my friend's loves noodles. Our okonomiyaki specifically came with pork and squid which are two essential ingredients in my opinion. They use some heavy duty bacon on top for their pork so I was a huge fan. After the food is done, top it off with Japanese mayo and bonito flakes, slice it up, and enjoy. The quality of the okonomiyaki here is not to be taken lightly. It was damn good and I was so happy that we chose to wait in line to dine here. For a party of three, two okonomiyaki and a yakisoba was certainly enough to fill us up. If I could go back, I'd probably order another because it was just that good.

Yelp
My mom, my daughter, and I came to Dotonbori on a Tuesday evening to have dinner and do a little shopping. While we were in one of the souvenir stores, we asked where we can find a good okonomiyaki place and they suggested this restaurant, adding that there's always a long line. From the main street (where the big moving crab is), we turned into a small street at the corner of Starbucks, and then a right into the first street (I hope that made sense). The restaurant was easy to spot due to the obvious long line of people. The restaurant is located upstairs, so there were people trailing from the restaurant entrance, down the staircase, and trickling out into the street. There was a sign on ground level that asked to keep the end of the line no longer than where the sign is, in consideration of the surrounding businesses. We managed to squeeze in at the end of the line (well, maybe a tad bit out). Aw yeah. Surprisingly, majority of people in line were tourists from the States like us. I overhead that they found this place on Yelp, lol. We waited maybe 45 minutes or so before we finally got a table (lined up around 6:30p). A staff had already taken our order while we were in line so that we'd get our food in a timely manner when we got seated (we were not allowed to change it or add to it afterwards though). Between the 3 of us, we shared the Ajinoya mix okonomiyaki (1300yen), the regular size mix yakisoba (1300yen), the negiyaki (980yen), and the akashiyaki (560yen). In hindsight, 3 dishes would've been plenty...had to roll myself out of there, bahaha. Everything was pretty good, but of course, the okonomiyaki was the best out of all (I wouldn't say the best in Japan, but still tasty).

Loewe C.

Yelp
We waited in line for 1 hour but it was worth it! We were seated right in front of the chefs, making our clothes smell like BBQ. But even more awesome is that we get to see the chefs in action and their hands never stop moving. They are quick, nimble and it's exciting to see them make multiple items at once. We order the Combo B set ($30-40) which includes 2 types of okomoiyakis - one with original batter and egg and meat, the second with thinner batter and green onions. The combo also includes a yakisoba, stir-fried noodles. Best yakisoba I've ever had! This combo can probably feed a family of 3. More on my blog: https://sincerelyloewe.com/kyoto-osaka/

HeeJin C.

Yelp
I got the okonomoyaki and yakisoba and both were super delicious. On the side they have seaweed flakes, spice flakes, extra sauce, and the fish flakes so you can season to your liking. I went around 4PM and there was no line whatsoever, but as I was leaving I saw a couple of teams waiting outside. They cook the food in front of you and also were pretty great about explaining things in english. Super fun!

Yelp
I came during my trip to Osaka in early January and my aunt and uncle brought me here. They said this location is one of the best spots for okonomiyaki. We had to wait to be seated since it was quite busy and food came pretty late due to lots of people and orders. After a one hour wait for a table and food to arrived, the food was AMAZING! But beware, it's piping hot since it just came out! But OMG... what can I say, the okonomiyaki and yakisoba was so fresh, fluffy, and delicious! That one hour wait in the winter cold was so worth it!
google avatar

Aron N.

Yelp
Okonomiyaki - wow.... this place is so great! I have had Mizuno and liked it, but this place was incredible! Maybe it was the lady that could be the owner that came to cook for us. Maybe it was the delicious draft beer we had with the food. Maybe it was my two SUPER friends that were with me?? All I know was that the yakisoba and okonomiyaki was amazing. The moment when she asks "mayonnaise OK?" with the spatula digging in - uh YES, and the mustard, then sauce...... Even CHEESE underneath the sauces. I mean this was serious business and so were we when we dug into the meal. I'm going back for sure. Yes, as good as it gets!
google avatar

Sara T.

Yelp
I haven't had many okonomiyaki in my life but this was definitely one of the best I've had! It was very delicious. The lady cooking it for us had great timing, although we didn't talk much. But thankfully there was a English menu for us to browse through. There was a small line when we were here this past summer, but moved along quite well and wasn't an issue, since we used that time to decide on what to get. Definitely craving some right now.

Shannon L.

Yelp
I went to the second location because the line for the first one was just way too long. They cook it for you in the kitchen which I feel always takes away from the whole Okonomiyaki experience of either you cooking it yourself or them cooking it in front of you (so you can eat it only seconds later). I tried the pork, corn, and octopus and they were all good. The batter is light for something so thick but the outside wasn't as crispy even though it looked pretty dark. My favorite was the yakisoba. The noodles were really chewy (in a good way) and if I came back, I would really just get that.
google avatar

Clay Y.

Yelp
The place is BUSY, waited over an hour to try the Okonomiyaki here, waited over an hour, they came in line to let us look a menu so we could pre order, When we finally got in and seated our order was brought to our table to be cooked on the flattop on our table, it took about 15 minutes to cook but when you're hungry and watching them prepare and anticipating the first bite it felt like forever... they asked if we wanted american mustard and mayonnaise to be added to the Okonomiyaki sauce, he was very generous with the sauce, too generous, over powered the oknomiyaki, if you go there ask for a light sauce, they have more on the table along with bonito flakes, and finely ground seaweed for you to add to your taste. We also ordered it with noodles, [Hiroshima style] Ready set eat! They leave it on the flattop on low, so every bite will be hot, just take enough for a bite or two... Very filling dinner...
google avatar

Lorraine C.

Yelp
Hands down, the best okonomiyaki I've ever had! There will be a line, but it is totally worth the wait. This isn't a tourist spot, many locals also come here to eat, so you know it's authentic and delicious! There were a few seats outside of the front door for us to sit and wait and also someone would go down the line to ask what we would like to order, so they can have it ready for us by the time we are seated. Many restaurants that require a wait do this in Japan, and I love it because it's time efficient and I can be ready to chow down by the time I sit at the table! My boyfriend and I ordered a small mixed okonomiyaki and a small yakisoba and it was more than enough for the two of us. Our server cooked the food right in front of us at our table. It was amazing to watch. The sauce was soooo good! If I had time to visit Ajinoya again, I would have, but our itinerary was too packed and we didn't have the chance to eat here again. However, I know I would come back to Ajinoya if I plan a trip to Osaka again!

Yelp
味乃家 has been in business for 4th generation/65 years. They must be doing something right with their Okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients) Okonomi means whatever you like. So basically there is so many combination you can do. Or you can just get the standard recommeded signature combination. This reminds me of pizza?! Osaka is where Okonomiyaki originated from till they were available all over Japan or around the World. We ended up coming to Ajinoya because of it's convenient location in Namba. There was a long line... and it was 2 pm. This place must be good? I left my sister waiting in queue while I went around and found some takeout to feed us (Takoyaki heaven here!). The staff here was really helpful even with our limited knowledge of Japanese language. We pointed to the photos and ordered #1 (Deluxe 1300 Yen) and #5 (Ladies' Fave 930 Yen). Our waitress just took the batter to our table and started whipping the ingredients into the mixing bowl then the batter was ready to cook at the hot plate at our table. We were told not to touch anything.... so me and my sister just staring at our pancakes and waiting and waiting.. till the waitress came and flip them again. And when our okonomiyaki were ready to eat then we were allowed to use the metal spatula to divide up our too huge pancakes. There are condiments for one to dress up your pancakes before eating including mayo, bonito/seaweed flakes and sauces. We should have just order 1 to share but I was glad that we got #5 as it has rice cakes on top, as I love rice cakes!! I did enjoy the experience. Especially if one looking for something that can really fill you up and it was fun to drink some beers while eating with friends. I would recommend coming once if you want to have a taste what Okonomiyaki really is in Osaka but there are so many other food to eat........ I probably would have skip next time unless they offers me a mini version!

Yelp
Local Japanese flavour combined with casual food theatre make this popular hotspot the perfect foodie tourism destination. The Okonomiyaki is perfectly fresh as it is cooked right before you on your table's own hotplate. Please don't touch, hot. While the Okonomiyaki crisps away, soba noodles, beef, seafood, pork and egg are quickly prepared. Cooked to perfection, the noodles are ready to eat almost immediately. The value is excellent too. Don't mind the queue, from the bottom of the stairs to your table is about a 30 minute wait.

Yelp
I have decided that Osaka style okanomiyaki is way better than Hiroshima style. But it is really just a preference. We had the Ajinoya Mix. It was fantastic! Great flavor and when we finished it, we wanted more. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to compare this to other places, but it was really good. I don't know if I would wait in the line again for this. One thing that sucked was that we had to order when you are close to the front of the line. You don't have the option to order more once you sit down. We soon regretted not ordering more when we were done.

Yelp
In Osaka we went to Dontonburi mall which has many shopping store and eating places. On yelp we view 4 stars to Ajinoya which is in the Michelin guide for 2016 -2017 known for their Okonomiyaki. You know it's well known when the waiting line to get in is over an hour! Yes we waited for 70 minutes to get seated...then another 15 minutes for our Okonomiyaki to cook. When we were done, we left at around 9;00 still a very long line to get in...The Okonomiyaki was ok and a little salty, too much sauce! Not sure if it was worth the wait !

Yelp
Wait for it... Wait for it... It was yummy! Nothing new in going to add than the other reviewers the sauce is nice etc etc There is a note at the end of the staircase saying that if the line goes beyond here than come back, it's not really enforced but then again it didn't get that super long Saturday night at 20.00! I was just past the sign and it took me 45 minutes The take your order whilst in queue which was nice and efficient so the drinks come out quick once your sat. I had the two choice pork and shrimp lots of other stuff looked yummy, the locals (by that I mean Japanese speakers) went a lot for the green onion one. One star off cuz they sat me near the action but a lot of cooking was done there and the smoke just kept going into my eyes the whole time!

Yelp
Very good okonomiyaki and yakisoba, which is why it's so popular. We arrived around 2:30 on a Saturday and waited about 30 mins. They have English menus and take your order while you are in line. If English is a struggle, you can always point at the photos on the menu. They do have vegetarian okonomiyaki and I got them to make vegetarian yakisoba (even though thy insisted it wouldn't be tasty that way - ha!) The hiroshima-style (layered) okonomiyaki was a little disappointing, but the others were great, including one with cheese which was unusual. We had 4 okonomiyaki and 1 small yakisoba between 4 starving adults and struggled to finish it all. They will cook everything for you, then you can add bonito or seaweed flakes to your taste. They serve beer, wine, sake, and various highballs. It gets very hot in there, so be prepared to shed layers. Pay at the front when you are done.

Yelp
Ajinoya is a fantastic little teppanyaki restaurant in the Namba / Dōtonbori area of Osaka. The tare (sweet-savory sauce) they use on their okonomiyaki (a savory pancake with assorted meat, seafood and vegetables) and yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), etc. is unique and delicious. Between two of us, we split a mondanyaki (okonomiyaki with yakisoba), as well as an order of yakisoba on its own. Watch the videos I posted to see how f-ing delicious these things look when they're prepared. And they taste even better than they look. We also ordered tsuji, which is basically the gristly parts of beef stewed low and slow in a rich broth until they're tender and juicy -- like beefy buttah. This was surprisingly one of the delectable highlights of the meal, of which there were plenty. Osaka -- especially this area of the city -- is known for its myriad choices of eateries and okonomiyaki joints in particular, but I'm glad we found this place. It's really quite wonderful and I'm sure I'll be back again someday despite the abundance of nearby alternatives. It's that good. Don't preclude yourself from trying this place if you don't speak Japanese, either. Food is the universal language that brings us all together. Just point at the mihon (plastic representations of the food being served) outside or the pictures on the menus and on the walls inside, order and wait for them to cook it right in front of you, and eat...eat...eat.

Yelp
The Ajinoya okonomiyaki was highly rated so we decided to see what it was all about. The portion is more than plenty. As you can see the dish stacks at approximately 2" and is loaded with yakisoba noodles, cabbage, bonito flakes, seafood, eggs and sauce. There are two restaurants down the street from each other so if you're not willing to wait the long line for the slower restaurant spot, then head to the one closer to the main street.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Osaka prefecture. It's 3:00pm and we were hungry and tired. I really don't like the wait (the wait is about 20 mins) and I were finally seated. They got pretty good combo for 4 ppl. In all its very good experience. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who visits Osaka's Dotonbori area.

Yelp
I really wanted okonomiyaki since that's one thing Osaka was known for and we hadn't had it yet. After walking around some more, we finally decided to yelp a place and found Ajinoya, along with a line. Oh well, we settled for it anyway and proceeded to wait about 40 minutes before reaching the top where they took our order. We decided to share an okonomiyaki and a yakisoba. When we sat down, they cooked it right in front of us and we watched as they layered on all the different layers. When we got served, I was a very happy camper as everything was really fresh and flavorful! I would definitely recommend getting the ones with everything. Hell, get the sets if you're really hungry so you can try everything! Turns out, this was a Michelin star rated place. No wonder why everyone was lining up for it!

Yelp
Worth the wait in line... thankfully at 6pm on a Thursday night, the line was not bad at all (15 minutes wait). We got lucky to sit on at the counter facing where the chef cooked the food (Benihana without the showmanship - the chef is really cooking for the entire restaurant, very impressive multi- tasking plus he was so attentive to everyone sitting at the counter!) Though popular with tourists, this place is very authentic in service and food. Trust the server's recommendation, we ordered the two most popular items and they were delicious and unique to the region of Osaka - Ajinoya and Yakisoba with mixed surf and turf meat and seafood. Beware that your clothes and hair will smell smokey after dining on the counter but totally worth it!

Yelp
I looked up a few okonomiyaki places in Osaka, this one was closer to Dotonbori. I'm glad we went, wonderful staff. Someone said they aren't amenable to English. Guys don't go to a foreign country and not even attempt their language! During our 10 min wait I saw many interactions and as long as you know the basics you will be fine (There's an app for that). They sat us at the bar. .. best decision because you get to see the show! We watched as every version of the menu came to the kitchen. We had planned on getting street food after but two large okonomiyaki orders and rice filled us right up. (My boyfriend is a massive eater and in Tokyo and Kyoto he constantly had to over order to fill up, not in Osaka!) Try the recommended okonomiyaki and the Hiroshima style version. It gives you a good balance.

Yelp
Great place, very tasteful kind of omellete - okonomiyaki. We had B set, with 3 courses. The chef behind grills is very talented, and the taste, ah, wonderful. Come here with hungry and open Mind. Don't change the place because of the queue, it's worth it.

Yelp
Ajinoya is frequently referred to as "the second best okonomiyaki in town" by the locals, and in this town being second best at anything is actually more of a plus than anything. The few things that separate Ajinoya from the "best" okonomiyaki establishment in town are that you normally don't have to wait 40-70 minutes in line to get in, they're slightly less (and understandably) English tolerant than the other establishments in town, and their service is a lot more up close and personal due to their personalized hot-table layout (as opposed to the long counter setup) The pork okonomi and beef tendon negiyaki here are to die for, and nothing quite possibly feels better than washing them down with a cold tall one. The establishment does get a star docked from its overall rating because I went in early August (i.e. the hottest period of the year) and their air conditioning was broken, making sitting in front of a hot-table very very agonizing were it not for the cold beers and the good food. Do yourself a favor and head on to Ajinoya if the lines at "the other place" are ungodly as usual.

Yelp
Please don't go to this place!!!!! 不好吃+脏乱差+烤焦Look at the mess!!! Crockroach all over the place! Save your money!!! Waited for 50 minutes, and super disappointed! Ordered two most popular items, both are okay, but just okay. If you wanted your overcooked dish to taste better, add more and more and more mayonnaise plz. Don't know why this restaurant has been hyped for so long.

Yelp
I think Ajinoya was my second best meal in Japan! The sizzling Okonomiyakis were just what the doctor ordered after a long day! We read up about this place on TripAdvisor and based on the timing of when it gets crowded for dinner, arrived around 6pm and waited for a good 30 mins even then! But it was totally worth the wait! We ordered a cheese and rice Okonomiyaki and a yakisoba with corn Okonomiyaki. We were seated at the grills and could pretty much see the chef whip out Okonomiyaki after Okonomiyaki with such perfection, it was amazing! Every bite was delicious. The quantity is pretty substantial too. I couldn't finish eating my portions and the dear husband had to help out! Overall, it's completely worth the wait. Go here when in Osaka!

Yelp
Not 5 stars, unless you kill for okonomiyaki. This was tasty and this place is an institution. Staff were kind of rude which was a shock given everyone else in Japan has been so nice. Had the recommended loaded up with mayo, mustard, barbecue sauce and bonito flakes. Sure was tasty and filling. We also tried some cheese filled egg balls. I have no idea why people die for this stuff. It's just good comfort food.
