We had booked to stay here in various accommodation options as a group to celebrate a birthday. The park has an excellent location within easy walking distance to town. There's a lovely, vibrant community feel to the town. We experienced the Brewery, Pub, local cafes' and shops and came away with a positive experience of all.
In our experience, the Caravan park is in need of some upgrades/maintenance in order to justify the prices charged for the accommodation.
We stayed in a Dome tent for 3 nights ($357) which provided a bed, sofa, small table/ 2 chairs, mini-fridge and 2 small towels. No coffee/tea making facilities in tent so you would need to bring your own. It was basic, fairly clean (cobwebs to walls/floor. dead insects on floor) and in need of some general maintenance (floorboards with gaps, door scraping along floor when opening/closing, key difficult to turn in lock, water marks to inside of tent walls). It was raining during our stay and the rain came through the air vent / fan at the top of the tent, wetting clothes and toiletries (nil cupboards/drawers to store things).
The toilet block close to the tent was clean, lights didn't work in one of the toilets making it difficult to see if using overnight. The main toilet/shower block was difficult to enter as keys weren't originals and didn't 100% match the lock - this was a comment made by everyone in our group and whilst frustrating for us, it would also be challenging for those with any hand dexterity issues. The water pressure in some of the showers was very poor, which we also overheard another resident telling the Park manager about.
The check in process / service was disappointing. We had booked our group accommodation a couple of months ago and paid the balance in full (in person) 3 weeks prior, confirming at the time all of the accommodation we had chosen and paid for. On arrival we were informed that one of our group members had been moved from her pre-booked on-site caravan to a Dome tent (without our knowledge) as the caravan was in use by a staff member. After stating that we would not accept a Dome tent as an alternative (given we had booked/paid for a caravan), our group member was offered an alternative caravan (the staff member stating she would "just move the other person booked in there on the Saturday night"). The communication delivered by the staff member at the time however was pretty poor in terms of her ability to listen to our concerns (she spoke over us constantly and continually passed the blame onto her manager, accepting no responsibility herself). Whilst the replacement caravan was ok, we did leave this interaction feeling as though our initial concerns had been dismissed and ignored. The rest of our group confirmed the same in terms of their accommodation and interactions with staff members and for this reason, it is unlikely that any of the members of our group would return to stay at this park unfortunately, which is a shame, as Nannup and the community there we found to be fantastic.
