"A 500-acre beachfront property celebrated for its striking natural beauty and active conservation program, including an in-house marine biologist and guest opportunities to plant coral and mangroves. The resort offers abundant water activities, swimming, a swim-up bar, a private island, and a robust cultural program that contributed to its inclusion on a recent Where to Go list." - Tim Chester, Judy Koutsky

A Dolphin-Filled, Tourist-Free Trip to Fiji - AFAR

"Set along a largely undeveloped stretch of Fiji coast, this waterfront property feels intimate and uncrowded thanks to a high acreage-to-accommodation ratio and ownership of extensive coastline; guests often spend more time in, on, or under the water than on land. Snorkeling off the hotel’s private island reveals warm, hot-tub-like water, colorful reefs and tame tropical fish that readily approach snorkelers, while boat excursions commonly include playful dolphins riding the wake. Activities include dawn stand-up paddleboarding among hawksbill turtles, kayaking above glimmering manta rays, and easy reef access just steps from shore; guests also enjoy a beachside hot tub, private villa pools (one with “Bula Tim” spelled in stones), nearby rivers and waterfalls, and intimate entertainment and service from knowledgeable local staff. Fijian culture is woven into the property’s design and programming, with traditional carvings and magimagi bindings, plus curated experiences such as a Fijian food safari, basket weaving, and a formal kava ceremony; an attentive kids’ program offers full-day staffed activities like raft building and traditional cooking." - Tim Chester

The Wild Interiors, Cerulean Blues, and Winding Rivers of Fiji

"Later, back at the sprawling Nanuku Resort Fiji on Viti Levu's south coast, where I was staying, I would have a private kava ceremony of my own. Organized by the resort's cultural ambassador, an iTaukei man named Josua Cakautini, it was performed by four burly, bare-chested men who sat around a huge wooden bowl, in which they prepared the kava."

Just spent 5 nights in this incredible resort. We hadn’t a suite for a family of four and absolutely had the best time. The resort feels high end but also beautifully homely. You know you’ve had a great holiday when you don’t want to leave! The staff are amazing and our children absolutely adored the “buddies” they’d been paired with at the kids club. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend this place.

A beautiful resort, perfect location. Everything was perfect, our beautifully appointed Villa with plunge pool. A one minute walk to a stunning beach, where we were able to swim in the warm ocean and snorkell around the reef. We found the whole team at the resort worked together to make us feel welcomed. The service, the smiles made us feel at home. A lovely holiday, laying by the pool or out on a boat to snorkel and visit a private island for a picnic lunch. We enjoyed the activities at the resort, yoga, cooking lessons etc. Our stay was made special by the amazing warm and friendly staff. Planning our next visit.

While the resort and our garden villa was lovely the experience was tainted by the cold food and long waits for service. |Out of 5 days worth of food service, we only had 2 breakfast dishes served hot. All our lunches were cold and we sent back many items. The dinners were equally cold or over cooked. We had to ask at least 3 times to get salt and pepper. Then the shakers would be empty. Our drink orders were often delivered after we received our mains. And the mains would take 20-30 minutes…and then were cold. |We at almost every service we had to ask where our drinks were. Super disappointing. The running joke going to a meal was on how cold it would be. Even after asking at every order to please make sure it was hot. |The servers and other staff were very pleasant. So not sure if this is a kitchen issue or staff on Island time.

I think if I had to pick the most amazing thing that makes this place special, I would have to say the staff. They are warm, wonderful and welcoming. The location is absolutely stunning- as are the villas! The food is excellent. The cultural experience sets this place apart from the rest. The 3 hour trip from the airport is a little long and would be worth looking at the internal flight which is 30 mins. A completely unforgettable experience, wish we didn’t have to come home and can’t wait to go back!

Our stay at Nanuku Resort was absolutely perfect. The staff were warm and attentive, making us feel truly at home. The villa was stunning with breathtaking ocean views, and the resort’s private beach felt like paradise. Every detail was thoughtful, from the delicious food to the exceptional service. A wonderful place for families, we can’t wait to return!

We recently returned from a fabulous 7-day visit to the Nanuku Resort Fiji! What we will remember most is the team there, that became friends and made us feel like family. Along with another couple we rented the two-bedroom two story Beachfront Pool Suite and it was amazing. The view was incredible; the room was pristine with a wonderful team that serviced our rooms each day. ||Resort Manager Vuli Cakacaka was always very present and we had a wonderful time with him learning about the resort, its history and the people. He also explained how they are giving back and supporting the local villages. He’s an amazing leader of the team!||We were on the meal plan, and never once did we grow tired of the delicious food as the menu changed daily. Twice while we were there the evening dinner was a delicious buffet with curry, lobster, steak, shrimp and much. These meals were preceded by a welcoming Managers Reception where we had a chance to mingle with the team and other guests. The highlight of these two nights (besides the food) was the amazing local dancers and singers who performed during the meal. ||Honestly, the entire team are some of the warmest and friendliest people you could ever meet. Every one of them made us feel like a part of their family as they greeted us by name each day with a warm smile and a BULA – BULA!|Nanda was our primary server each morning and was absolutely wonderful.|Louise was always one of the highlights of our evening. Her knowledge, warmth and joy are contagious and we miss her already!||Our excursions were all so much fun!|We did the half day Private Island Escape, which included snorkeling near the amazing coral reefs. Also did the Navua River Tubing tour which was a blast! We started by boating up to a very remote Village about 9 miles up the river, followed by a hike into the water falls where we had a chance to swim in the lagoon. After lunch, we then enjoyed the tubing back to the Village where we started. Our guide Ben was absolutely wonderful – very fun and engaging!|A couple days of on/off rain allowed us to visit the Spa for a very relaxing massage.||We hope to visit again one day with our family and we would highly recommend this resort and all its wonderful amenities – especially the staff!!

Nanuku is not a place you leave easily and happily. From the special warriors welcome when you arrive to the poignant farewell song when you leave, you feel like you become family here. The type of resort and its size means it never feels too busy and allows the staff to give you the genuine and personal service and treatment that you don’t get in huge resorts. The rooms are so beautiful and we enjoyed the huge space of a 2 bedroom Villa (which people should be aware is 2 separate rooms accessed by an external staircase so if you have young kids they may not feel comfortable staying by themselves in a room). The room inclusions are great. I was worried about only being able to eat at one restaurant for the whole 7 nights there, but they changed the menu every day so there were plenty of choices and variety. The food was of a high standard. It unfortunately rained for 5 days while we were there but we loved the resort so much that we enjoyed the relaxing time and used the breaks in the rain to walk the beach or do onsite activities. All of the staff make a special effort to talk to you in the resort, from restaurant staff, housekeeping, the porters, the activity coordinators and the landscaping team. The concierge team should be commended on making nothing too much trouble and always remembering our names. A special mention needs to go to Louise and Chief Maka, who made us feel extra welcome. I could go on for ages but I’ll stop there! Oh! One more thing! My girls are teenagers (14 and 16) and thought they were too old for the kids club so didn’t use it. On the last night one of the kids club coordinators invited them to join them at a bonfire and roast marshmallows and when they came back they realised they could have had a great time there had they joined in earlier. They cater for all ages and do it so well.

Extremely disappointing experience. The room was dirty and falling apart — clogged sink, broken bathtub, a door lock that barely worked. We saw a rat in the room twice, and staff claimed it was “just a lizard.” The floor was never cleaned — they told us the sand was falling from the ceiling. Seriously? Food was repetitive and made us sick — I got food poisoning two days before we left. Room service costs extra, a Coke was $4.50, and breakfast was barely edible. AC and mosquito repellent were turned off without asking, and there was no fumigator — we had to buy one ourselves. Everything is old and worn out: bikes, boats, life vests, snorkeling gear. Wi-Fi constantly disconnected. No evening activities. Childcare staff seemed completely uninterested. When we reported issues, we got passive-aggressive replies like “just it?” This place is not cheap, but the service and maintenance were shocking. We couldn’t wait to leave. Would never recommend.
