The dorm is not comfortable at all ! The mattress is not a real mattress for obscure reasons... It's only a duvet placed on the wood !!!! (For all beds in the dorm) You do have your privacy because you have a curtain, but it gets very very warm inside, ventilation system is really bad, the beds are literally placed in the entrance in the hallway, the light is on all night for customers that want to go to the restroom. However, I asked for a real mattress and 2nd pillow for my 2nd night and the staff kindly gave me one and they also dimmed the light slightly. The staff is reactive, caring and helpful. The hostel is well located. It's clean. You can rent a bike (2 availables).

The hostel is a bit run down and there’s not really a vibe. However, the location is very close to the port of Honmura. The mattress was too thin. However, all was clean. Late check in will cost you 1000 yen more.

Fine if you are on a tight budget. I paid 3000 yen for a dorm room. It's an unstaffed hostel. You have to let the owner know when you will arrive and then he will turn up for a few minutes to tell you the passcode for the door and give you a quick tour of the hostel. There are private rooms and 4 capsule style beds. The hostel was clean but there was not enough body wash in the shower. The location is good, next to Honmura port and near the Art House installations. I would stay here again if I was on a budget and travelling alone.

place is simple and they only have 4pods I believe to crash during the busy setouchi art festival season. the air conditioner switch is very tricky, make sure it is on otherwise you will be pretty sweaty at hot summer night. Not many people travel back packer style in Japan for some reason and I am the only guest that stayed at pods that night. Place is very convenient with the nearest artwork 1min walk away. The bus stop is 3min away from the hostel as well. Overall, recommend.

Very kawaii, budget-friendly place with 2 private rooms with bunk-beds and several pod beds in the hallway. Common room with small kitchen, separate showers for women and men, one clean toilet (lile most toilets inJapan). Our host, Kozo, was very friendly and helpful, with above-average English skills. Highly recommended for backpackers and other travellers on a budget.

Loved our time in Naoshina which was coupled by our stay here. The guesthouse has a dining area, kitchen and cosy capsules which were spacious. Free towel provided and access to all kitchen utensils you could need. The place has a great artsy vibe with lots of kitsch artwork..one of our favourite places to stay in Japan easily!

The pods are pretty basic and sound isolation is, as most places in Japan, pretty much non existent. Super-friendly host who really went the extra mile and picked up one of our friends by car when she arrived to the other side of the island after buses stopped going! Given the price it was a great stay.

We booked this hotel with a family of 5 to visit Naoshima. At the arrival the door was locked and together with someone else we had to wait until someone opened the hotel. When finally inside we were given a room for three people and two of us got a cabine to sleep. First of all was the room for three people still being used as storage room and had to be cleaned. When we were leaving the hotel to go on a bike ride the hostess came to us and asked if the three people in the family room also could move to a cabine. We asked why and she told us that an other Japanese family called to make a reservation and they payed more than we did. We told here this wasn't the way to treat her customers and that we would stay in the family room because we arrived first were given the room. On this she called the owner of the hotel and she was far from polite to us. Eventually we didn't had any choice than to move to the cabines because she wanted to kick us out of the hotel but the rest of the Island hotels were all full booked so we couldn't go elsewhere. This was by far the worst hotel I ever slept.
