The 7 Best Hostels in NYC (Updated 2025)

"I appreciated Nap York's focus on sleep and quiet: located in Midtown near many museums and a few blocks from Central Park, it offers pod-style rooms and bunk beds with individual charging stations, en-suite bathrooms (sharing with a maximum of six people), noise machines, light-blocking dividers, starlit ceilings, and a 24/7 quiet policy in sleeping areas. With shared kitchen facilities, female-only dorms available, and beds from $101 USD, it's a stylish, restful option in the center of Manhattan." - Matthew Kepnes

Very happy with my stay! Clean, quiet, and comfortable. My only small complaints were the shower water was pretty tepid (not sure if that was intentional or an unfixed issue) and the ladders to get into the top bunks were so narrow and difficult to climb!! But overall, for the price and location, it truly cannot be beat. Everyone I bunked with was very respectful. Perfect for a quick crash in the city. Would stay again!!

Great location, clean, quiet space to sleep. Unfortunately, someone stole a sandwich I place dinner the fridge with my name and date on it, but maybe they needed it more than I did. Aside from that, it was excellent, especially considering the terrible experience I had with the Chelsea International Hostel. This place operates and functions as one would expect. Even better actually. They even have a well maintained massage chair on the floor I was on. I'll definitely use this place in the future and not waste my time and energy elsewhere moving forward.

I have stayed at other hostel in NYC. This one is the best. The location is great. Right at Times Square. Beds are comfy. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. Bathrooms and bed are decent in size. There is an elevator for carrying your luggage

I stayed four nights in a shared 6 dorm and one night in a deluxe pod. The first night I discovered that my blanket (100% polyester) was completely torn at the bottom. Fortunately I was able to get a new one the next day, but I still wondered how this could have happened. The temperature in the pod was far too warm, whereas on other nights I was completely freezing (you can get a second blanket but you have to pay).|The interior of the pods is sufficient and the black color makes it easy to fall asleep. I find it impractical that the lockers for storing the suitcases are also completely black. You can buy padlocks for them on site if you need one, they cost around five dollars. The “kitchen” includes a microwave and kettle. |The Deluxe Pod was quite nice, I liked the starry sky, but I probably wouldn't pay the extra price again. |Overall, my stay was okay, but I didn't really feel comfortable, mainly because of the plastic bedding. However, the price for this location is good and I felt safe.

Nap York is very well run and immaculately clean. Yes, you are sharing a room but the bed areas are very private and enclosed and inside have very thoughtful touches. A small lamp, small fan, shelf, outlets. The kitchen is amazing with everything you could need. Only issue was someone snoring one night so I did have ear plugs and earmuffs. Other than that it exceeded my expectations. Great value for the area.

They have quiet sleeping pods with a decent amount of space, which is great. It's really convenient that they let you drop off your luggage and take a shower even before check-in time. However, their automated systems don’t seem to work properly — the generated PIN codes didn’t function, and the receptionist had to give us a separate code to access the property.

The location is great and easy to get there by subway. Also convenient to go to the time square and anyplace else. Room is clean and quiet. I feel comfortable to stayed there for 2 nights before get a flight to another state at noon. I will be back if I visit NYC in soon

Very good service and clean space. I found out later that I was in a mixed room (male/female) but every single one were very respectful!! After checking out I still could use the kitchen and the common areas for few hours. This helped me a lot! The pod is completely dark inside, perfect for a deep sleep! Special thanks for Alex the receptionist, a russian young guy🇷🇺 ...he is the best! Location is simply perfect! Exactly between the south end of Central Park and Times Square! Awesome! I will definitively recommend and come back here when coming solo to NY! Thanks Nap Yorker! God bless you all! Jesus is coming back!
