8 Best Wine Tours in Napa Valley (Updated 2025)

"If you’re after something a bit different, I recommend the Napa Valley Wine Trolley: instead of a regular tour bus you ride on a replica of a cable car (an open-air car, so pick the right weather). Tours leave from the Oxbow Market in Napa and the Classic Napa Valley tour is $125, which includes transportation to three wineries, a casual picnic-style lunch, plus unlimited bottled water and soft drinks between tastings." - Matthew Kepnes

My husband and I were on the up valley tour with Richard today. We had an amazing time at Castillo di Amarosa, at Raymond Vineyards and at Bougetz. Our sommelier was incredibly helpful at Castillo di Amarosa and customized our experience to our tastes perfectly. It was absolutely amazing. Maha at Raymond was a shining star and made our visit extra special. She is fantastic at her job and clearly enjoys what she does. We learned so much and had so much fun. (And the red room is *beyond compare*…. I will remember forever!). I didn’t think Raymond could be topped, but the team at Bougatz were great! It of course didn’t hurt that the owner is a native Iowan :) but honestly we had so much fun with Tim walking us through our wine tasting and teaching us all about the sights and smells and the legs on our wine. We loved the wine and the laughs! Not to be forgotten - Richard got us to and from safely and kept us entertained with stories about the Napa Valley and various wineries and locals. His stories were great! Definitely a great tour! I would recommend!

Richard was a great guide, extremely knowledgeable about the area. Lunch was amazing, really enjoyed the restaurant and the wine pairings there. Our group overall was disappointed by the wineries we visited. The locations were pretty and the staff were all friendly, but the wines were average and we would have appreciated consistency in the pricing of the tastings. Our first stop charged $50 for a tasting and offered minuscule pours, while other locations charged less and offered normal size tasting pours. We also did not get to ride the trolley that day, and while we understand that the trolleys are historic and things happen, when a tour is booked specifically for the trolley, it’s disappointing when it isn’t there. The day was marred a bit by not having the trolley and the selection of wineries.

We had a great day with Richard as he drove us around Napa county to the multiple wineries and lunch. he gave us a lot of interesting facts about the area and kept the tour entertaining. We would definitely consider doing another wine trolley with him again as the guide.

Our guide/driver, Omar, was great! He was informative and also fun. The “Castle of Love” was my favorite stop! The trolley was a unique way to experience the tour and different wineries. We were able to experience three very different wineries, and it made the experience additionally memorable. I highly recommend this tour!

We had an amazing time on the Napa Valley Wine Trolley! The whole experience was smooth, fun, and well organized. Our driver, Omar, was friendly and kept everything running on time while also making sure we were comfortable and having a great time. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to explore the wineries.

The Napa Valley Wine Trolley EXCEEDED our expectations! Brian was the best chauffeur and we can’t wait to do this again next year. My only request would have been to have more time at the castle. If all parties had shown up on time, it probably would have been perfect. Later that evening Brian sent some pictures he had taken of the group throughout the day, which was incredibly thoughtful of him. Thank you for the experience!!

Our driver Omar was excellent — professional, friendly, and made the ride enjoyable. The only drawback for me was having to sit with other parties for both lunch and tastings, which made the experience feel less private. I would have preferred more autonomy, but overall Omar did a fantastic job.

My friends and I had a great day on the Napa Valley Wine Trolley with Brian as our tour guide! Brian really made the trip so much fun. He was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great tips on places to eat and visit. We visited Castello di Amorosa, Raymond Winery and Backstage. They were all very unique and fun to see. Lunch was great and nice to have a part of the trip. It’s a really nice way to relax and take in the beautiful sights of Napa. We were also the first to get picked up and the last to get dropped off which had some nice perks (i.e. sit up front for great views and less wind and you get to be the DJ on the ride home). Thanks again Brian for a great day! Come visit us on the East Coast!
