Just checked out this morning. This place is awesome. All the staff was exceptional and you won't find a cuter place to stay. So nice and clean and setting outside your room and hearing the creek is so relaxing. Love the place!

Great little hotel right next to the Yosemite Sugar Pine Railroad! The rooms are great with decks overlooking the forest and the on-site restaurant serves up great food and drinks. The hotel is located just minutes from the southern entrance to Yosemite NP and the Discover Yosemite tour will pick you up in the parking lot.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem in the Mountains! Staying at the Narrow Gauge Inn was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality, stunning views, and a peaceful, rustic charm that made us feel instantly relaxed. The rooms were cozy and well-appointed, and the surrounding forest gave us that perfect mountain escape vibe. We loved waking up to the fresh mountain air and spending our evenings dining at the on-site restaurant—seriously, the food was next level! Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or a serene retreat near Yosemite, this place checks all the boxes. Can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a unique, unforgettable stay! 🌲🏞✨

⸻Narrow Gauge isn’t really the place they’re advertising. Our room had a cracked window, drippy paint where they repainted but didn’t tape off or remove outlets and things, you had to get up to point the TV remote to the box BEHIND the television for it to work, they claim everyone has a balcony but it’s the shared balcony that you have to walk down to get to your room. Our view was a separate building with more rooms facing us. The property was run down and pretty cluttered with, for lack of a better word, junk. We also had an issue with our shower water getting hot. The staff was great, however. Elaina (I believe was her name) was lovely and listened to my complaints and remedied what she was able. She was excellent. And the restaurant was fantastic as well. We had the Coloradian elk loin and it was incredible. One of the best meals I’ve had! The decor is really fun too. The staff there was amazing as well. NOTE: I just noticed a review posted with identical issues. It has to have been the same room and none of the issues had been addressed. A great example of carelessness.

Great place to stay and close to the nature!!! rooms are refreshed with nicer furniture. staff is super friendly. you must try restaurant and they have a great menu!!! Make sure to go to train station next door. its a fun ride for the family. You are also very close to the south gate entrance of yosemite and other location attractions..

Clean room with great views. Guest service is fabulous and very happy with my choice. I was able to try their restaurant after park visit and it's fabulous. Great choice of food options and service. I had the best chicken entree. You must try the train ride next door ..

The pool was closed, our tv didn’t work. We were not told this by the young man in the office. The room’s lighting was dim. The stairs were uneven & unstable. My friend’s room smelled like ant spray, & they told her it was paint. Pros: the shower was nice. Some reviews had said there was a continental breakfast, but there isn’t. Make sure you bring some food, as the restaurant isn’t open during the day. There is a fridge in the room, but you must go to the office to use a microwave. The office/gift shop was very dark. My call to the manager was never returned .

Google
Would highly recommend when checking in ask for the 75.00 fee on hold in case you were to drink or eat snacks they leave in room to be removed along with the unasked for drinks and snacks. There is no list “listing “ exact snacks left. Guarantee you will be charged even if you take photos etc. just either ask for them to be removed immediately or when getting to room gather up and take to front desk. Trust me it happened to us and I see it’s happened to others. They go by what housekeeping says so best to take care of immediately. Heads up no breakfast is included. You are offered to get something from a cold freezer in lobby and microwave in lobby and that will be billed to your account. No free breakfast. They call it complimentary breakfast but it’s not. It’s freezer -microwaved and billed to your room.

Yelp
Spent a comfortable night at this authentically rustic lodge just outside Yosemite's South Gate (Hwy 41). Highly recommend the Aroma Tavern Restaurant. The food was delicious, very generous serving sizes and a wonderful menu that made it hard to decide. We enjoyed carrot ginger soup, calamari (small bites plate piled high with so much deliciousness), winter apple salad loaded with the good stuff, and homemade chicken pot pie. All were great choices. Next time I'll try the short ribs. To top it off, the service was exceptional and we loved our delightful server Jai. She was so attentive and fun to talk to. Don't drive by without stopping and staying!

Yelp
We stayed here for a friend's wedding just up the road, and it was okay. The pictures online made it seem more up-to-date than it really was. I called a week ahead to ensure I could check in early since I was in the bridal party. They said no problem. My husband and I got there about 2 hours prior to check in (check-in is at 3pm) and the room wasn't ready until 2:50pm. We may as well have just shown up at the regular time. They did our paperwork early but we couldn't even get in the room until pretty much at check-in. So don't expect an early check in, if you ask for one. The room was okay, it was really dark and poorly lit. There were burn marks and stains on the mattress, which was disconcerting. For the price of the room, we expected something a little more clean and current. Everything kind of seemed like it was 20-30+ years old. "okay" for the location, but that's about all the place has going for it unfortunately.

Yelp
We have been staying at this Inn for years! The property is nice and feels secluded. It's always quite and feels so relaxing... Our favorite room is #40 - it's on the corner next to a little creek and we just love it. If you frequently stay here, call to make reservations instead of doing it online. You may get a better rate! Rates are usually good regardless though! The room is comfortable, clean, and just enough space for a couple. It's got a great cabin feel to it! Also, there is plenty of deck space to relax with a bottle of wine and to enjoy the nature and views!

Yelp
What a great cute place ~10 min from the park! Cute adjacent store with gear/accessories better than the park. Everyone very nice. Ice didn't work and could hear the neighbor snoring, but would def stay again.

Yelp
Narrow Gauge Inn in Fish Camp is a cosy and welcoming Inn nestled under beautiful pine, cedar, and Sugarpine trees. The best part is that it is walking distance to the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad that took us through the Sierra National Forest to an Amphitheater where we were to see Hiroshima in concert.

Liz D.

Yelp
Not well maintained, the room was dark and dingy with ripped blanket on the bed. Reception did not allow us to use the restroom in lobby before the check in time and told us to go down the road to a nearby business and use their facilities. The pool was not maintained and was murky. Do not recommend in any way, as management is clearly riding in the coattails of being at Yosemite entrance.

Yelp
Very cute and quaint! I wanted to squeeze in a quick nature getaway for some peace and tranquillity. I checked in earlier than 3pm and the room was ready for me. The room feels like a cabin with a more modernized bathroom. I do have a couple gripes: the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything ! I kept waking up to foot steps above me. I definitely recommend booking the single level room facing the forest. There will be nobody above you and you can hear the creek water better. Also, Their highly rated restaurant was closed! Was really looking forward to trying the food. The skies look great at night and there are cool little paths surrounding the Inn. Sugar pine railroad is right next door to book a train ride and to visit the museum . Yosemite is just 4 miles up the road!

Yelp
Great affordable stay near Yosemite! It's 8 minutes from the south west entrance to Yosemite, but an hour from the valley floor. There is AC, heater and a fan! A small fridge and tv are also in the room. everyone here is extremely kind and hospitable! There was an issue with the toilet, but it was fixed immediately. The restaurant at this inn is great! Everything is made to order (even breakfast - you let the front desk know in advance!) It is a bit further from the main attractions at Yosemite and the entire drive is through a windy road, which made it difficult to visit the park. Would highly recommend if you don't mind the drive!

Yelp
Great location for Yosemite! Rustic inn that looks like it had some recent remodels. Overall it was clean, quiet place to sleep. Rooms a little small with a large bathroom that included a desk space with coffee maker. Our room had a little balcony with an amazing view of the mountains. I mean really amazing! My main issue was that the mattresses were rather worn and could be replaced. Also the heater was really noisy. Desk staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the grab and go breakfast provided by the restaurant. The portions were huge and the fruit was fresh and delicious. Lobby features a cute gift shop with snacks, sundries etc... Also a microwave fir guest use. Great little place to stay between Yosemite and Oakhurst. PS if you are an EV driver there are a ton of Super chargers up the road at Tenaya and also a charger for other EV's.

Martha A.

Yelp
Our room was filthy, bug stained walls, spider webs and cob webs , badly made bed with a filthy mattress cover. Trash around the balcony. I booked two nights and left after one it was so disappointing. In a positive note the restaurant was really good.

Yelp
Wow, what a sweet little inn! A group of us got 2 separate rooms for two days for our trip to Yosemite. I was so amazed at how cute the room was and I LOVED being able to drink my coffee on the balcony overlooking the trees and the animal trail. The restaurant had some of the best food I've ever had in my life. Thank you, Narrow Gauge, for making our trip magical! We are definitely coming back!

Yelp
Beautiful location. The hotel is very quaint. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Staff was very friendly.

Jennifer E.

Yelp
Been here 5 times. The first three were fine. Rustic motel in a quiet part of the woods. Restaurant that is SOMETIMES open. The fourth time we rented the house. It was hot. The AC only cooled one room. The other AC unit/s were broken. The house was filthy and we had to scrub it ourselves. The plumbing broke, septic overflowing. They offered part of our group other rooms. The fifth time we stay will be our last. The pool was broken, not shared with us prior to booking. And overnight, the plumbing broke AGAIN. No showers so we left, never to return. Too bad because it has a lot of potential. Hopefully new owners take over and give it the attention and maintenance it needs.

Yelp
I really like this place! They have a wonderful spot close to Yosemite. The restaurant and bar is very nice and the staff is fantastic. The hotel rooms are a little small, but just fine for a night or two. I probably wouldn't want to spend a week here though. The hotel staff was very kind and accommodating. Check in and check out were easy! You can park right outside your room if you're lucky, for easy loading and unloading. The rooms are clean, cozy and comfortable. I'd recommend The Narrow Gauge Inn as a good place to stay for a Yosemite visit. It's very close to the park entrance and about an hour drive from the valley floor with the crazy narrow winding roads.

Derrick R.

Yelp
Pretty much what everyone has says-nice place, nice staff, but a little neglected. Not as close to Yosemite as implied- the entrance is not the park. It's still about an hour to the park. YARTS bus doesn't stop here and you can't walk to Fish Camp.

Yelp
This place is perfect for anyone looking to vacation in Yosemite! My partner and I went up to this place last November, and it was gorgeous, clean, comfy, and the food at the bar/restaurant is excellent! It's only ten minutes from the park's entrance, and about fifty from Yosemite Valley and Tunnel View. The drive into Tunnel View takes a long time from here, but the prices are better than anything else I found nearby. The rooms you get are perfectly-sized warm, comfy, and convenient. They even come with TVs (why would you come out here to watch tv but it's definitely a bonus) I thought I was getting a sparse cabin, but I cozy mattress, comforter, and a spacious bathroom and a porch to sit and take in the mountain air. George, one of the staff at the restaurant, makes a drink called "The Wife-Getter" it's super tasty, and it will knock you on your ass a bit. He, like the rest of the staff are super friendly! I wanted to surprise my partner with a surprise vacation to Yosemite, they thought we were just stopping by for a little bit. She thought we would be staying in a different county, and pointed out the Narrow Gauge as we passed it on the road (the first time either of us saw it in person) and said "that's it, let's just stay here." We will be coming back for sure.

Yelp
Loud and old If you like hearing every word your unknown neighbors say at midnight this is the place for you. 1st night room next store had a baby, the baby cried off and on all night (babies cry, not complaining about that) but it sounded like the baby was in our room. We could hear every word the parents were saying to the baby to try and get him to sleep. We were unable to sleep that night and basically ruined our day in Yosemite. 2nd night was different guest but again they might as well be in our room. I could hear snoring all night as well as their entire conversation. When their iPhone alarm went off I literally reached for my phone to shut it off. The room was clean enough but so old and worn. We thought we coming to a cool funky small hotel but it's just plain old. They told us the hot water comes slowly and to let the sink run for a few minutes lol maybe after 15 minutes you may or may not get more than Luke warm. The shower head was a stream and should have been replaced 10 years ago. Linens seemed clean enough but looked frayed and old. This place is not worth the charge - please don't respond with your standard response about many guest enjoying the value. Unless you like paying a lot of money to be awake all night go elsewhere. Had I known the area better I would have just stayed in Oakhurst at a quiet clean hotel with actual running hot water only 15 minutes more from the park entrance.

Yelp
This review is for the restaurant attached to the inn. We had dinner here last weekend. We had the salmon and shrimp gnocchi. Both dishes were excellent. Our server was new but tried hard and did a good job. There were a few issues that keep me from giving a 5 star review. First of all, the quaint restaurant needs a good cleaning. My chair had crumbs all over it. The window sill was dusty, carpet needed vacumming. Secondly, entrees in this price range should at least come with soup or salad. The shrimp gnocchi sauce is so good but when I asked for bread to soak it up with none was available. Seriously ?!?. Finally, we were told to come in between 5 and 6 pm. No reservations were available after 6 pm. When we left the restaurant at 6:30 the place was nearly empty. This place has the potential to be a destination restaurant. The food is that good. Management needs to pay attention to detail.

Yelp
There's not a huge choice of reasonably-priced accommodation at this end of Yosemite National Park, and the Narrow Gauge Inn does offer a certain rustic charm I guess. It didn't seem hugely busy when we arrived, so after a very friendly check-in we were soon in our room, which was down one flight of stairs at the rear of the building. The room décor was a bit chintzy bordering on twee, and it wasn't the largest space; however the bathroom area is quite large and contains a dresser area doubling as a workspace, with kettle and biccys, and an open wardrobe area to hang clothes. The balcony-cum-walkway outside has another couple of chairs to enjoy the evening air, although the view isn't particularly spectacular. Sadly, the restaurant wasn't open on our visit so we were directed up the road to the Tenaya Lodge hotel, where we had a very expensive and over-cooked piece of salmon. However, the Narrow Gauge Inn did manage to supply a light breakfast, which gave us the chance to see their dining room with its collection of stuffed bison and moose heads. I loved the vintage fire engine in the yard and the few remaining railway relics around were interesting too - a hangover from the days when it was connected to what is now the Yosemite Sugar Pine Railroad.

Yelp
What a great find! Stayed for one night on our way into Yosemite Valley. Friendly and accommodating staff. Easy check in and access to our room. Parking was directly in front of our door. We had a single story creekview room, and the atmosphere was quiet and serene. We could hear the creek from our room and see it off of our balcony. Property was well maintained and adorable. We had everything we needed. Even a little refrigerator. There were sweet little trails to sitting areas through the grounds, perfect for relaxing with a good book or early evening happy hour. The pool was open and clean but we didn't have time to take advantage of it. Due to the recent post-COVID re-opening of the restaurant, breakfast was takeout only, but we did manage to enjoy the restaurant for late night coffee and delicious dessert. It was fascinating to see the incredible craftsmanship and historical design of the interior of the restaurant and bar. Super quaint and romantic! For the OHV enthusiasts, there are some great riding trails across the street from the inn at the Miami Creek OHV area. A mix of wide fire roads and narrow single track trails. Just beware of some trails needing maintenance, especially downed trees that block access to some areas. You just have to bring your patience and enjoy the adventure! The Sugar Pine Railroad next door offers different train tours through the area. It was relaxing and a lot of fun. We'll definitely be back for their Moonlight tour and BBQ. Although it's not brand new and the rooms aren't 5 star, the Inn is very accommodating and a very pleasant place to stay and I would recommend it any day over your standard Best Western type hotel in the area.

Yelp
Super cute, rustic, and quaint inn that is pet friendly and incredibly close to Yosemite National Park. Our room was clean and tidy, right out window overlooked the forest, the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was tasty! We were told breakfast was complimentary but after checking out we noticed they charged us. Not a super big deal especially with Covid but still a bummer. We will be back though!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is the definition of quaint. It's adorable. We had a wonderful room right on the corner of the lower rooms with a forest view. It rained one whole day of our stay and we really got to enjoy it in our cozy little room. If you're looking for five star resort, this isn't it. This place is an adventure of its own and we loved it for that. The WiFi is spotty, but embrace it, you're in Yosemite! We brought our own Nespresso machine (highly recommend doing that) as they just have the little drip coffee machines in the rooms. We really loved drinking an espresso on the patio watching the stream. I gave it four stars because it's perfect for what it is: a charming local hotel with history. They're still working out the kinks though, and they're trying so hard;-) Love you Narrow Gauge Inn!

Yelp
This hotel was the best i have ever stayed in. I highly recommend !! It's so cozy and quiet. Highly recommned the forest view. The staff in the office were all so helpful and friendly. And the restaurant they have here is so delicious. You will NOT be disappointed. It is an hour drive into the park though, but its not bad. Just have to wake up a little early since cars do get backed up trying to enter the park. Will def stay here again

Yelp
Such a beautiful location & perfect hotel in Yosemite! We had only gone for a couple of days, but we loved our room. The high ceilings, the decor in the bathroom, & the best part of it all was the porch! We enjoyed sitting outside, admiring nature, & we can't wait until we're able to do it again, at this same hotel! They were accommodating & very kind to us. You get your own parking spot in front of your room, which is always great. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed so we had to go elsewhere to eat. The bed was very big & comfortable. We definitely enjoyed our stay here, & we do plan on coming to stay here again very soon. The only thing I hope they upgrade is the shower heads. The one in our room sprayed all over & it wouldn't come out in one straight stream, so I hope they do upgrade that at least, which is very inexpensive. Other than that we loved it & can't wait for our next stay!

Yelp
Quaint old fashioned hotel that has the B&B vibe. The shinning star is the Restaurant in The Buffalo Bar. This is a fine dining destination that deserves to be sought out. The venison was outstanding and cooked to perfection. The entire world was present in the mushroom bisque and the ahi tartare was executed perfectly.
google avatar

Yelp
This place does not look like much when you pass by it but it has a VERY BEAUTIFUL balcony view in many of the rooms overseeing the forest. This place was marvelous. It was the only place we found available for a spontaneous trip to Yosemite and at the lowest price. Now, the price is NOT super cheap ($180ish/night) BUT, much cheaper than anything around...just couple minutes over is another hotel @ $300+/night soooooo yea lol. Anyway In regards to service: Great, Absolutely no complaints. We were only there for 2 days and everything was quite nice. The rooms were very clean. I believe there was a small issue with plumbing or something but nothing so bad to the point where we would be mad. In regards to parking: We did not have to pay extra which is always a bonus and in top of that PETS ALLOWED. I believe it was $225 but i can't remember off the top of my head. Would we return? absolutely. This place was remarkable,. Make sure to give them a try in your next adventure and tag/follow us on our =world adventures on instagram/tiktok @thehungrynomadz

Yelp
While visiting Yosemite recently (October 2019) with our dog, we needed a pet-friendly place to stay, and found the very reasonably-priced Narrow Guage Inn. With only a few rooms left, we made the reservation for a room with a King bed for $110/night. We could not have been happier with our accommodations. The Inn and grounds are cute, cozy and rustic, with views of the forest and even a beautifully-restored antique fire engine on display. The room we rented (25) was very large and private as it was located directly behind the office all by itself (unlike the other rooms that are located side by side). The room was very well equipped with a comfortable (but slightly-saggy) king bed, comfy loveseat, armoire (for a closet), credenza, tall dresser, and very large nightstand tables. The room also had a refrigerator, ceiling fan, floor-standing fan, satellite TV, and coffee maker. A HUGE private deck with views of the forest, tables and chairs made the room seem like a private suite. The proprietor has even provided local area activity brochures in the room for your review and invite you to take them with you - very handy. The private bath was well-equipped with shower/tub, hair dryer, and all the usual amenities. Since this room is not adjacent to any other rooms it is exceptionally quiet and perfect for a couple with a dog. Since the Narrow Guage Inn has a history associated with the old and adjacent Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad we also made sure to enjoy a ride with our pooch on this old restored steam train through the forest that was a lot of fun. If traveling with kids this ride would be a must! Sadly the restaurant located at the Inn was had just been closed (for dinner) for the season, and it is seemingly the highest-rated restaurant in the area. We did however enjoy and very nice buffet breakfast for only $10 at the restaurant and the operator Bill was very accommodating and offered many suggestions for sightseeing in Yosemite. Avis at the front desk was very nice and pleasant. Overall, the Narrow Guage Inn was great for us and we would be very happy to return.

Jon S.

Yelp
A nice simple place with cool deck if you don't have many expectations of luxury. It would be nice to have a microwave in the room so we can be independent with food prep instead of hauling everything to the community lobby microwave. As far as their onsite bar/restaurant The staff is pretty nice but they gave me no ketchup for my fries and I don't think my blue cheese bacon burger should have a 2/3" layer of blue cheese which is thicker than the beef patty.

Yelp
If you make reservations at this restaurant, make back up plans to eat elsewhere. We have attempted to dine at this location three times now to no avail. Reasons for last minute closures include "failed food delivery" and "refrigeration issues". Ugh. This makes me sad. The Narrow Gauge Restaurant used to be one of our favorites. Unfortunately, it is too unpredictable at this point to recommend.

Tracy H.

Yelp
We had a very nice Thanksgiving Dinner at the Narrow Gauge Inn this year We usually have thanksgiving at a different restaurant but due to Covid restrictions we tried a new place. We were very pleased with the ambience and coziness here! The dinner was delicious, all the thanksgiving traditions. Our server was such a sweetheart! Thank you for making our Thanksgiving so special

Yelp
Wow! So many nice reviews! How crazy! We chose to try this Inn as we'd passed it several times in our way to Tenaya Lodge. We were looking forward to a quaint Inn experience with the dining and bar so highly spoken of on Yelp. Alas! When we arrived, we were told the Restaurant and Bar were closed. Seems good delivery was unavailable. And the bar was also closed. We were invited to try Tenaya Lodge. The next day we tried dining there again, but this time there was something wrong with the pipes. Again, Tenaya Lodge was suggested. I see there is a review posted a day ago raving about the restaurant. I can only assume this is a bogus review as the restaurant and bar were closed both days I was there. As for the room, we were put in #43. We were told this was the most popular room. Ok, popular to whom? The water didn't run, the shower head sprayed the wall not the shower, and what few "amenities" which were provided were a joke. Oh, and the TV was BROKEN! Not that it didn't work. IT WAS BROKEN! My wife and I really looked forward to a nice experience at a quaint mountain retreat. We were sadly disappointed. We will never return. I would give a 1-Star rating but Sarah, who checked us in, was a very pleasant young lady. It would be unfair not to point that out. My advice? Stay in Oakhurst, or the NGI's highly recommended Tenaya Lodge.

Yelp
We recently stayed in room 28. All of the surfaces were covered in a thick layer of dust, which made me think no ones stayed in that specific room for a while?! There's definitely a difference between dusty and dirty though, so other than that, it was clean! I carry Clorox wipes with me when I travel so it really wasn't a big deal. I probably would have been upset about it if I didn't have the wipes or if the employees were rude (seems to be common in California hotels), but omg everyone was so so so nice!!! The wonderful personnel combined with the beautiful & quaint property made for an absolutely lovely stay.

Yelp
So charming! great service! Amaaaaazing food. We decided last minute to stay an extra night in the area, and it was Labor Day weekend. We considered Tenaya Lodge, but it felt like a Vegas hotel. Big, loud, and all too much. We got one of their forest-side rooms, #47, and loved it! Even though we had neighbors on both sides, they were all very quiet. We enjoyed a nice chat with one of them while enjoying the rocking chairs on our back porches. The main lobby and restaurant have been kept in immaculate condition, and it felt great to be in a place with so much history. Our room was basic, but super comfy. The memory foam mattress was divine, and the AC and ceiling fan made us forget about the heat. It was very old-school, and I loved that about it. It would cost a fortune to rebuild the place to have central HVAC and all, so I'm glad they haven't gone that far. Fresh new flooring and classic quilts on the comfy bed were enough for me. Dinner was amazing, with house-made cheese, wild arugula, and (according to my boyfriend) the best meat (of any kind) he'd ever tasted in their imported Venison. Breakfast was more basic, but also with great service. The pool was clean and charming, although quite cold. Perfect for a quick dip after a hard day on the trails, though. Loved the babbling brook next to the rooms, and enjoyed a nice morning meditation and stroll there. Also took a stroll to the rail museum and line for which the inn is named. We'd just missed the 11:00 train, but enjoyed some fresh baked cookies before heading home. We met people from all over the world but could just as well have kept to ourselves when we chose to. I look forward to visiting this peaceful gem again.

Yelp
I am surprised reading all of the positive reviews for this hotel. It is not a nice hotel. The room was very outdated. The TV was rigged up so that you cannot turn the tv volume very high. I assume this is because the walls are paper thin. You can hear everything on either side (you just can't hear the TV). Hotel management must have been tired of the complaints, so they did this. Either way, there were two DirecTV remotes. One turned the tv on, the other did everything else. We couldn't get the TV to turn off though, so we unplugged it. We were never able to get it to work again. It was a smart TV, but you could not use the Smart aspect of the TV because of the DirecTV rigging to control volume. For such an outdated property, you would think they would take advantage of having cheapo ROKU smart tv's. That would be a plus, but no. I chose this location because there is a bar and restaurant onsite, and its proximity to the park. But, when we checked in, we were told that they were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays - which were the days we were staying there. So, that was lame. I wanted to stay somewhere that had quick access to food options onsite. Instead, we had to drive miles away from Yosemite to get food and then drive all the way back towards the park. The room was very outdated and held a hodgepodge of mismatched old cheap furniture. And when I say old, I mean decades and decades old. But NOT antiques. Cheap, cheap, cheap. The place has no heart. Maybe they once did. But, it is clear that no one in management cares enough to make the furniture match, update the carpeting and fixtures. And generally make the room environment inviting in any way. You have to spend money to make money, ya'll. There were some old brass light fixtures that were cool. Carpet was older than Elvis' in Graceland. Don't think there are as many stains on the carpet at Graceland though. Back balconies on the rooms are cool with nice view. No one wears masks there. Although, mostly everyone in town at all shops do not wear masks either. But, when it comes to customer service, now is the time to wear a mask when sitting at the front desk in an enclosed area interacting with guests that come in from all over the country. There is no way to know who is vaccinated or not. I have no way of knowing whether the guy at the front desk was vaccinated. I just know he wasnt wearing a mask. BUT, our rooms could not be cleaned during our stay because of their new COVID policy. Umm. ok, then, if you are following safety protocol, why no mask, sir? The way the place is maintained, I can only assume that management enjoys saving money by not having someone clean every day. Overall, it is just kind of a janky place. I don't know how else to describe it. They are riding on the fumes of yesterday and have no care or skill (at minimum) to bring the place into today, much less make it a great place to stay in the future. Oh, water in shower was lukewarm at best. I felt like a chump staying there. I did not feel good about spending money there, or sleeping there on vacation. When asked by friends how our hotel was on vacation I responded that we made a mistake on that part of the trip. I felt embarrassed to stay there it was so cheaply maintained. I'm glad I didn't invite friends to come with us this time. I would have felt badly about bringing them to this property. None of this means that the place ain't cute. It is. Only the outside though. I hear the food is good. Too bad I will never know.

Yelp
This isn't a luxury hotel but it is very cute. Super clean. Many updates like newer carpet. The setting is wonderful: lay in bed and watch the sun come up on the forest right outside your french doors. Nice deck with the sound of the creek flowing under it. My only real criticism is the bed needed updating:mattress and higher quality bedding. We would definitely go back. So convenient to Yosemite.

Yelp
If you are looking for Peace, Comfort and ease entering the park look no further. Older tidy classic Inn with tons of character and charming staff. This is a secret cheerful retreat that has a very clean room with a nice morning breakfast. Best Restaurant in the Area! The main restaurant was the best food I ate in the area hands down. I look forward to dining here again when the kitchen reopens next month. I wish I ate here twice and did not eat at Tenaya. It was like a Bass Pro shop with a front desk and mediocre airline food. Use this wonderful Narrow Gauge Inn to enjoy exploring the whole area outside the National Park. Before you leave ask to see the remarkable Fire Truck they have in the Garage out front for some photos! Pro Tips I recommend flying out of LAX to Fresno\Yosemite airport. It's a 45 minute drive into a nearby town Oakhurst that will have anything you need for a weekend getaway. *Stop in Oakhurst to get supplies at Ralphs grocery *Sporting goods store Big 5 *** Get GAS!!!*** There are very few service stations in the Valley and you will drive long distances with no fuel. The few service stations have huge lines and prices to match. Fun Alternate Day Trip spots near the Inn 1. "Bass Lake" Pickup swimming towels and a Picnic in Oakhurst then Rent a boat to explore the Lake. 2. "Nelder Grove of Giant Sequoias" Drive off road for a mile and hike this trail of Ancient Trees with very few people. The Shadow of the Giants trail is a special hike that is very easy. https://www.yosemitehikes.com/not-yosemite/nelder-grove/nelder-grove.htm

Yelp
It's a cabin lodge! Don't expect the ritz Carlton. It's perfect for what it is- has a great cabin feeling with decks on every room and a wonderful, friendly staff. Can't wait to come back

Yelp
Spent the night in the Mission Suite which was very nice. Not my first time in this room and we love it. Very rustic with the claw foot tub, 2 bathrooms large private balcony. Such a nice place. The restaurant has a new chief and a new menu. I thought this was the best restaurant in the mountains before. It's even better. Our food was amazing. I had the Angus Filet which was cooked just right. As good as any I have ever had. My wife had the Butternut squash pasta. I tried it and it was probably one of the best pasta dishes I have ever tasted. I was also disappointed to learn that they no longer make the waffles at there morning breakfast. They still have a picture of them on the web site. My only complaint was the service was a little slow with the host. I understand that they were busy which you would expect a Saturday night to be. Knowing that you would think they would have enough help. Still not a 5 star experience because of this.

Yelp
Was Disappointed in my stay. I stayed in room #43 which is a corner unit which is nice. Opened the door and 1ST impressions were ok. But looking further the bed was HORRIBLE. That mattress must have been 15 yrs old. Lumpy, hard and all broke down on one side. I even tried Turning the mattress as I was stying 2 nights. The bathroom was clean but dated and in need of some updating and repair. With the room itself it was little things like some missing baseboard and exposed insulation, furniture vet dated. The patio that was attached was ok. Except you would think for $250 a night they could hose it off once in a while. For the price I guess I just expected more. I can say I will stay elsewhere nextime.

Yelp
What a little gem. I was worried at first but when we got to the room and saw the view.. it was amazing. I felt like I was in a cabin in the forest. It's close to the park so you can get in before the crowds. 25 min away from town. It has a cute little trail with a stream that goes through back of property. A suggestion would be to keep some board games in each room. That or maybe available to check out from lobby. We will be back for sure

Yelp
Such great customer service!! They had cable tv up the mountain which was nice and the rooms were cozy and clean. It's not the most posh place but it has that cabin charm that you have to love! Tim in the front office was a sweet guy and very welcoming and great with recommendations on where to eat (which was nice because there are limited options in that area) and just a nice welcome to the Inn!

Yelp
Great place! We were planning to attend an in-person conference in Tenaya. We also had reservations here at Narrow Gauge Inn. Covid cancelled the conference, but we decided to come up to attend the (now video) conference via Zoom. Nice folks all around - from the receptionist to the grounds keeper and the pizza delivery guy! We'll come back again. And being so near the narrow gauge train shed - a plus!

Yelp
We had the opportunity to stay next door at Narrow Gauge Inn. We tried out the Restaurant/Bar bc we had a late check in and this was a few steps away. The restaurant has a nice old, hunter's lodge feel. The food & service was excellent(Joe, the server was awesome!), restaurant was cozy, and the wine list was great! We also had our 2 yr old daughter with us, they had a kid friendly menu too.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay here at the Narrow Gauge Inn. The hotel and dining were both fantastic. Our favorite part of the stay was getting to know George. Just a great guy who made our time here more meaningful.

Yelp
Stayed here for a buddy's wedding in Yosemite. The location is kind of hidden from the main road. The lobby is very cozy and homey. The rooms are clean and "classic". Nothing too spectacular. They have a restaurant on site that I heard was very good. We didn't get a chance to dine here for dinner but we ate the morning buffet style breakfast. The food was fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back to Yosemite and I wouldn't mind staying here again.

Yelp
Beautiful place to stay. It is super homey, clean, and we loved our room. A pet friendly hotel in the woods! I definitely recommend it. We slept like logs. The balcony was one of my favorite parts of the room - super pretty views and relaxing to be able to have an outdoor space for myself and to get fresh air. The only caveat being to please offer more cruelty free continental breakfast options.

Yelp
We have been here before. We knew the rooms were older (old fixtures.. should be updated) but with great views. Biggest issues). 1. room stone cold.. took 5 hours to get it warm. We sat under the covers with coat and boots on ) the single blanket is thin with an old thin quilt. NO EXTRAS. God forbid the power goes out. I will ask for them to put the heat on prior if we come back. 2) a key? Seriously.. this is a safety issue. Anyone can make a copy and come back and enter your room. I cannot believe their insurance company is allowing this! 3) two towels.. we stayed two nights. I guess we could walk up.. but they could stock a bit better. 4) two coffees, one decaf one regular.. again stock better. You get what you pay for.

Yelp
After a wonderful day at one of my favorite places on earth: Yosemite National Park, I sought an opportunity to unwind and enjoy a good meal. I was recommended this restaurant by the front office of the motel where I was staying. I was there in May of last year (2016). The best time of the year to be up in Yosemite in my humble opinion. The wait staff was wonderful - very attentive but not overbearing. I wanted to try something new in terms of drink and the server suggested a cucumber cosmopolitan. Man, that was refreshing. I probably should have had another! If I recall correctly my meal was the Roasted Free Range Chicken Breast . Very tasty but I could have used more. It was that good! If I stay in this area again rest assured I will return hear for another meal and drink.
