I believe most tourists visit this place for the stunning window view of Mt. Fuji, and it truly lives up to the hype. The view is absolutely breathtaking and an ideal spot for capturing beautiful photos. The paintings on display are also impressive. I was delighted to find a collection of ink wash paintings, which I personally love. The local artists are incredibly talented, and their work adds a wonderful cultural touch to the experience.

Came here for the view at the cafe and it did not disappoint. One of the best resting quiet serene atmosphere. The best photo taking spot of Lake Aishi and Hakone Shrine Tori Gate, plus the touristy pirate ship!

Spectacular view, I recommend to just relax at the cafe. The art exhibits are wonderful and their gift shop. They have nice japanese silk scarves, it was on sale so definitely buy those. The museum opens at 9 but the cafe opens at 10am.

This museum is a true gem in Hakone! The highlight for me was the stunning glass window showcasing a beautiful view of Lake Ashi. On a clear day, you can even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji, which is breathtaking. The museum itself is small but charming, with two floors of art collections to explore. We enjoyed the special exhibition during our visit—it was well-curated and added to the experience. Plenty of parking available. A cafe is also onsite to relax. One small suggestion: it would be great if there were translations provided for international visitors, perhaps via a QR code or similar technology. Overall, it’s a lovely spot to visit and a perfect addition to any Hakone itinerary. Let me know if you’d like further refinements!

Like everyone else, you come here for the view. And the view is awesome. the museum itself is okay, it's pretty small. But the art is nice and the kaleidoscope exhibit was pretty cool. I thought the gift shop was great, I picked up beautiful art prints for 400-600 yen.

1500yen entrance fee, can enjoy some art exhibitions and a beautiful view of mount fuji. Highly recommend on sunny days where the view of the mountain is clear. Can admire the mountain while having tea at the museum cafe.

Narukawa Art Museum Narukawa Art Museum, by Lake Ashi in Hakone, was opened to the public in 1988. It is a private museum that displays masterpieces of nihonga, Japanese-style paintings, collected by museum owner Minoru Narukawa over the course of 20 years. It includes 200 pieces by Kyujin Yamamoto, recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit. It is a relatively small museum and the focus is clear - nihonga work. There are mini galleries with different focuses but those are more permanent and in time to come the content will change and for those interested, I have listed them below. Permanent exhibition - the hidden treasures of China Since the spring of 2010, the museum started a permanent exhibition of the hidden treasures of China. Opportunities to view the original pieces of valuable art, finely crafted from the rare jade or ivory, are limited. We cordially invite you to view the masterpieces at our museum. Current exhibitions March 14 to July 17, 2024 Kazuo Yoshizawa Exhibition: Reaching for Hope Creating the Ages: Pre-War to Contemporary Women Artists Ryumi Hashimoto Exhibition: Phantasm, Humor, Empathy, Belief Future exhibitions July 18 to November 13, 2024 Masaki Sai Exhibition: Dramatic Landscapes and Railways Junzo Yotsuda and Emiko Yuguchi: Father-Daughter Exhibition—Snow and Roses Masterworks in Our Collection—The Sparkling World of Nihonga But more than anything this museum sits on a hill overlooking Lake Ashi, and i think this is one of its best selling points. Visitors to the museum can enjoy a viewing gallery that has unrestricted views of Mount Fuji and can enjoy a meal while doing so as well. There is also a small outdoor mini garden space where you can sit and enjoy the breeze too

Yelp
This is an interesting Japanese contemporary art museum in Motohakone. You can also purchase cool postcards here as a memory. The highlight here is that this place is supposed to be one of the best places to view Mt. Fuji. Pray that you're lucky and that Mt. Fuji isn't hiding behind clouds.
