What to see and do if you have 48 hours in Kuala Lumpur - SilverKris

"A go‑to stall for Malaysia’s national breakfast, serving fragrant nasi lemak with each rice grain impeccably steamed and perfumed with fresh coconut milk; located in a traditional village enclave that offers a rustic contrast to the nearby skyline." - SilverKris

Absolutely delicious nasi lemak! 🍛 The rice was perfectly fragrant with rich coconut aroma, the sambal had just the right balance of spice and sweetness, and all the sides — from the crispy anchovies to the peanuts and egg — were fresh and tasty. A true Malaysian classic done perfectly! Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic local flavors. 🇲🇾✨

Very very delicious plate of nasi lemak. The rice is fragrant, you will get a basic set of rice, anchovies and boiled egg and you can order whatever else you want. I thoroughly enjoyed it till the last bite. The bergedil was huge and had small little beef bits in them. The sambal cuttlefish was cooked to perfection and had the perfect chew. The chicken was alright, it was fragrant but I think v park one is nicer. My only qualms is that the ikan billis was too salty. Other than that, it was really delicious.

The Good: -The queue is quite organized and things move fast, so you don’t really feel like you’re waiting too long. -There are plenty of seats, and they’ve thought about different group sizes - whether you’re coming alone, as a pair, or in a group, there’s a spot for you. Your experience might differ depending how busy the restaurant is during your visit ;-) -Lots of side dishes to choose from, so you can mix and match with your nasi lemak the way you like. -The nasi lemak itself is okay - the rice isn’t mushy, which is good, but it could use a bit more of that fragrant coconut milk flavor. -Bergedil side dish is pretty good with reasonably sized portion. Not So Good: -The sambal is on the sweeter side, which might suit some, but personally I find it a bit too sweet. -No peanuts in the set, which feels like something’s missing - nasi lemak just doesn’t feel complete without that creamy, crunchy bite. -If you want to sit in the air-conditioned room, you’ll need to fork out an extra RM1 per person. Not a dealbreaker, but it does feel a little odd.

As an Indonesian, this is as much similar with our Nasi Uduk (most places in Java Island) or Nasi Gemuk (in some part on Sumatera Island). But I found this wanjo tasted a bit-light and sufficient for even breakfast-lunch or dinner. The similarity include the condiment. Fried Chicken, Perkedel (bergedil), meat or chicken rendang and so on. The main difference is, the outlet of Wanjo appear properly managed in a clean and spacious area. Love to see people queue in different lane including different stall for beverages. Maybe that is why a plate here, priced three-times higher compare to most Nasi Uduk in Jakarta. Hopefully we may be able to return in the future.

The chicken portions are huge and definitely worth the price. The place is lively and packed with locals enjoying their lunch, which speaks a lot about its popularity. Despite the crowd, there are plenty of seats available and the staff works impressively fast in clearing tables. There’s also a juice stall right in front if you’d like something refreshing to go with your meal.

Came here for weekday lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes available like Fried chicken, sotong, beef, cockles, and more. The nasi lemak was solid, I’d rate it 8/10: fluffy rice, flavorful chicken, and sambal that’s on the spicier side (a bit too much for my preference, but chili lovers will enjoy it). Drinks are self-service with free water provided. Do note that if you choose to dine in the air-conditioned hall, there’s an additional RM1 charge per person.

Stopped by for their nasi lemak I chose this resto because I heard that Anthony Bourdain had been here and enjoyed their nasi lemak. The nasi lemak is served buffet-style. You order the basic plate (coconut rice, hardboiled egg, peanuts and cucumber) and then choose your protein. Options include chicken, beef, liver and a few other choices. I had the chicken leg and the beef stew. The beef stew was very good. The chicken leg was fine, but my piece was very red and veiny inside - which I did not feel comfortable eating. I showed it to someone and they replaced it with a new piece. The main issue was that the food was served cold. Not icecold, but not warm either. I prefer my food hot, or at least warm. Cold chicken is unpleasant and hard to chew. Cold beef was easier, but still not ideal. I also found the staff impatient. It was my first time visiting, and they were not very friendly or helpful. Overall, I did not think it lived up to the hype.

One of the best nasi lemak in KL! Nasi Lemak Wanjo never disappoints — the rice is fragrant, the sambal perfectly balanced with just the right level of spice and sweetness, and the fried chicken is crispy and flavorful. There are plenty of lauk options, all fresh and delicious. The place is always lively with both locals and tourists, which says a lot about its popularity. Service is fast despite the crowd, and the prices are reasonable for the quality. A must-visit spot for anyone craving authentic Malaysian nasi lemak! 🇲🇾🍗
