Meet the New Generation Helping to Restore Jeddah’s Historic Al-Balad Quarter
"One evening Bakhsh takes me to the rooftop of Bait Nasseef, approached via long, shallow flights of stairs designed to let camels take supplies up to the top-floor kitchen."
Bayt Nassif Museum was high on my list of places to visit in Jeddah, so I was a bit disappointed when I arrived and realized it was closed. I didn’t pay close enough attention to the opening hours on Google Maps. Still, the building itself is very interesting from the outside, with beautiful traditional architecture and lots of character. Just seeing it made me more curious about what’s inside. I’ll definitely make sure to come back and visit properly next time I’m in Jeddah.

A reach history of how trading was done and the final point of trading for traders was here in the old town. Worth a visit, it’s a free entry and very small, can be done within 10-15minutes

Like everything around here, it opens later in the evening. Free after 5pm. The top floor was being restored, so only the bottom level was open. It was still very cool to come inside to have just a taste of what life was like back then. Very beautiful!

This was my favorite stop during my trip to Al ballad this time. The work displayed was breathtaking and it shows great pride in the work of the students. The place is so beautiful on the inside, the architecture is beyond words to describe. I liked how they set up the display and the tour is pretty quick.

This was a very small but welcoming museum. There are interesting displays placed around that you can easily get to and see some of the local history. There is also a small area in the back where the kids can sit down and rest and color pictures in some air conditioning. So it's a welcome respite when you're walking around with little ones. Not much to see but it's interesting and the building is nicely restored so worth a few minutes of your time.
