3 Best Day Trips from Nashville | Condé Nast Traveler

"Just four miles from the northern terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway, this bridge, built in 1994, is an engineering feat—the first bridge built from segments of concrete. You can take in amazing views from the top of the bridge, at Birdsong Hollow, or picnic and appreciate its architecture from street level. The Trace is a designated cycling route (meaning cars have to make way for bikes), so you can bike as easily as drive here." - Margaret Littman

Double Arch Bridge – Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"__Let’s start big picture. __ Just four miles from the northern terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway, this bridge, built in 1994, is an engineering feat—the first bridge built from segments of concrete. You can take in amazing views from the top of the bridge, at Birdsong Hollow, or picnic and appreciate its architecture from street level. The Trace is a designated cycling route (meaning cars have to make way for bikes), so you can bike as easily as drive to the bridge. If you're coming from the northern part of Nashville, you have to go by it or over it, so there is no reason not to stop. What do we need to see? You need to drive or cycle from the top to the bottom, it isn’t just one stop, and you get two totally different experiences. The top view over TN-96 is bucolic, with rolling green hills and views of Franklin countryside. The lower level is where you get to take in the view of the bridge and its architecture. Was it easy to get around? The beauty of the Natchez Trace Parkway is that every single mile is marked with a universal number sign, and there are limited places to turn off, so it is almost impossible to get lost. The bridge is milepost 438. Birdsong Hollow (the view atop) is also marked with a separate sign. All said and done, who—is this best for? Anyone who appreciates the four-season beauty of Tennessee, interesting architecture, or great places to frame a photograph of the aforementioned will think a stop is essential. Those traveling with young kids might not want to linger and die-hard city-goers who want to avoid the great outdoors may be bored." - Margaret Littman

Best place for weekend activity during fall colors. Also you can click pictures with bridge in the background. You will also get the top view Of this place. Kids love this place and they enjoyed the view and time we spend here. Must try this place once if you live in Franklin or nearby and you can also plan for a 1 day picnic with your family and friends not sure whether you are allowed to stay in the night as I didn’t see any information nor I haven’t seen any permission for RV parking or stay but is good place for day time.

It's an incredibly beautiful view of the rolling greens and occasional but beautiful houses and the stretches of road winding around the hills. Looks like the foothills of the alps in Europe. The view is to some extent disrupted by the ugly apparently suicide prevention wire mesh elections. Photos are affected mostly.

Cool spot, not far off the interstate. Didn’t have any trails that we could find but nice place to take a picture.

This is one of the best sightseeing drives that you can take. We start at the large bridge at Highway 96 and take day trips! It's over 400 miles total. Expect to see a lot of wild life including deer, turkey and beautiful scenery! Historic sites abound and there are many waterfalls to see. We are very lucky to live so close and enjoy this drive often. Highly recommended!

Pretty cool but I expected more for some reason. There is a place to pull off to view but it’s more a parking lot with no amenities. Would recommend it for locals but not really a tourist ‘destination’ unless you are doing the parkway as a scenic day trip.

Been over it once but never stopped. Was beautiful drive on it before they put up all the chainlink. Good place to just stop and stretch your legs.

Scenic drive in TN that meanders through the hills and countryside. Hiking and picnic areas abound. The Jackson Waterfall has got to be a crowning gem!
