On the Grid : National Arts Museum

"You can always find Ukrainian artists retrospective here, accompanied by special temporary exhibitions. In the past few years it has been hosting pretty successful showing with young curators uncovering the best sides of Ukrainian 20th century art. These works had been previously covered under the dust of soviet museum traditions and restrictions." - DepositPhotos

Art and Culture in Kiev

"NAMU hosts paintings exclusively by Ukrainian artists, so while it doesn’t have any big names, it does give you a taste of what Ukraine was up to between the 12th and 20th centuries. The exhibition starts with medieval Christian art then walks you through portraits of cossacks and straight into the 20th century modernism. There’s also a room for solo art shows, with ever-changing exhibits by contemporary Ukrainian artists." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Vast collection of classical and early modern Ukrainian art. Impressive collection of Orthodox icons. We've visited the exhibition of Ukrainian futurist and cubist artist Oleksandr Bohomazov, it was really impressive. Museum has small and rather limited souvenir shop.

Lots of diverse art and a well lit space. Although the jewellery exhibition didn't appeal to me, the pieces were very beautiful. Well worth a visit whilst in Kiev

Very interesting place for art people. Some authors were very interesting. You can spend 1.5 hour here. Also, price is cheap. Only condition of building isn't good enough.

Floorboards in the Ukrainian avant-garde wing creak in B-flat due to unique subfloor construction. Guards know which paintings visitors examine longest (usually Malevich's early works). The marble staircase's brass edging is worn thin in the center.

It's really awesome for patriots of Ukraine. There are good pictures of Ukrainian craftsmen, very politely atmosphere. The ticket cost 40 hryvnases (adult). Free entrance on Saturday.

One of the worst museums I’ve been recently. No airco, you nearly die, it is sooo hot, you enter by rear door and you see things you would not like to see. Second flor is closed. Go there only if you have ticket for free, you look free wifi or you have absolutely nothing else to do in Kiev… PS. The only two paintings I liked
