National Bern

Had an amazing stay here. The hotel is right in the heart of Bern, and very close to the train station. The room was clean with a spacious high ceiling. Breakfast was one of the best I had in Switzerland. But best of all was the staff. The women on the front desk were so friendly, helpful and funny. They are all exceptional at their job.

We have just spent a lovely 3 days in Bern with 2 nights in this hotel, it was nice for a short stay. The ensuite room had everything we needed, was very clean and very comfortable. Continental breakfast was standard but good. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday evening, we both ordered Entrecote Steak Cafe de Paris which was excellent. Whilst the restaurant does not open on Saturday or Sunday, if you leave the hotel and turn right you can find restaurants and bars a short walk down the street (Namaste is good if you like Indian food). ||The location is great, with a tram stop opposite (we went to the Museum of Communication from there) and there is a bus stop in a nearby side street for the bus which takes you to the Bear Gardens and Zentrum Paul Klee. ||I would honestly say the staff are an asset to this hotel, very polite and helpful. When we checked out we were able to leave our bags in one of the reception area lockers as we wanted to go out for a few hours before catching a train back to Basel. We would be happy to stay here again if we have another short break in Bern. The building has an interesting history and we loved the old lift too.

Pros: good location, near public transport. Comfortable bed. Housekeeping was really nice and helpful. Good wifi. Cons: most lacking breakfasts i ever had in europe (and i travel for work). And they have a kitchen.. Poor noise isolation in rooms. No parking.

Room was small but very clean. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast buffet was great. We will be staying at the National Hotel chain again whenever we visit Switzerland.

Good hotel in a very central location. Close to train station and very handy for the city centre and Old Town. Helpful staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was ok but limited choice at times.

Don’t stay here and ask them about parking. We asked them where to overnight park they recommend to city west park with information card it cost 28chf/24h and we ended pay 35chf (not even 24h) it’s not about the price but their honesty to their customers. Never again coming to this hotel. NEVER

We had an amazing stay here. The staff were all so friendly, engaging and helpful, it was like being with family. The rooms are great, good value clean modern comfortable. The location is just amazing, just one block walk and you are into the old Bern Altstadt. We had an early train to catch and missed breakfast - the staff made us a breakfast pack each!! Absolutely recommend National Bern Hotel!! Oh btw the restaurant on the ground floor is great. Loved it all! Thank you so much!! Love from Australia 🇦🇺

Super friendly. Great restaurant with very tasty food and lovely atmosphere. Room was a bit dark and Spartan and shower mean in its delivery. It’s inevitably noisy in the centre with trams rumbling by. Very convenient for Uni and station etc. Original elevator a highlight.
