an overwhelming avalanche of gorgeous art representing the formidable painters of the Ferrara schools over the centuries, as well as some sculpture and decorative arts. The real stars here of course are the paintings by Dossi, Garofalo, Erocle de Roberti, Scarsellino, Bononi, Bastianino, the list goes on and on. Truly impressive for such a large gallery to be found in a city as modesty-sized as Ferrara. The newly restored Palazzo dei Diamanti is wonderfully done—the exhibition on Lorenzo Costa and de Roberti is a home run, and the caffè is also worth visiting for a break and some refreshments.
