There were some positives but unfortunately, the negatives meant that our overall experience was poor.
Positive
1. Location of the Hotel
2. Staff at reception helpful
Negative
1. The rooms are tired and worn. In desperate need of updating.
2. The safe in the room was in a cupboard that didn’t open. We asked if they could change our room as we didn’t want to leave our valuables lying around. The receptionist checked the system and said yes once they had finished cleaning it. When we went back a few hours later we were told the manager said we couldn’t change rooms. She offered for us to leave it with them at reception. Something I’m sure no-one would feel comfortable to do.
4. Dirty pillow case, bed sheets and towels. These should be checked prior to guests using them. That said, when this was raised with reception it they did replace them but it took a while.
5. Housekeeping was a big problem. On the first day, the rooms weren’t cleaned until 5pm in the evening. As we were heading out on day 2, we asked for the room to be cleaned earlier but got back at 4pm to find the room still hadn’t been cleaned. We had to ask reception for new towels to be brought to the room which took a while to arrive.
6. As for breakfast: very average with limited choices.
By this point we were feeling quite frustrated. When we raised these issues with the manager, she shrugged it off and said she didn’t see what the problem was.
This hotel lacks cleanliness, service and is out dated. It seems to be more of a do it yourself attitude to everything. It’s up to the guest to keep coming down to ask for things.
I would highly recommend starting else where.
