National Library & Art Gallery

The library offers a wide selection of excellent books. Visitors are welcome to read inside. However, borrowing books requires a membership.

i had a few more hours to look around the city, and then I found the library. anyway I needed to read my book, so I went in. there were some women reading/studying things. and I found some books about Korea/Korea history. it was a wonderful experience. I also read some books about Maldives here. I definitely want to visit again!

I wish the group study area is made sound proof so we can have discussions over there. Plus that area is so small and have huge chairs which takes up so much space. Mostly because that area doesn’t have a ceiling it defies the purpose that it is built to serve. That is for peers to have group discussions without bothering the others with their activities. If that area is also designed for just whispering and discussing than it’s pretty useless to have it at all.

My sister and my brother goes there and studies, some times they read book I also want but I don't live here so I can but still I love this place, it's a silent as a pin drop or a leaf fall,it also internet, the place it really interesting. So when I change to male' I will go there like daily

National Library 📚has a very silent atmosphere, the kind need for people to concentrate on what ever they are learning or studying. You should put all your containers and bags 👜🎒👝🛍️ in the drawer and give the key to the counter where they will give you the key's number card, 🛅 you are to give it back while leaving to get back the key and open your drawer. The place has tons of books. There are many section (ie: the English section, Dhivehi section, Students' area & etc...) With each room having lots of bookshelves and a Librarian(s) (sometimes two) at each room. Readers are provided with WiFi network 📶 that you need to show your ID card 💳 to the counter, and they will give you a 24 hour limited Voucher code🎫. You are to enter it in the library's wifi sign in page and agree to the terms and conditions ⚖️👮 of use (All terms apply, please read the terms and conditions). They also give you the opportunity to use computers 💻 that are installed there but Computer Plus. Or just bring your laptop 👨‍💻 😉. I do love the library as it has so many books and not slightly any disturbances can be found. I got and do my homework there as well. Mostly if I get a free hour⏳, I go there. It's a good place to improve your literature. 📖 You can fill up a form and become a member of the library, so you can carry books to your home and read it at the comfort of your home if it helps (for MVR 10/month). I would rather not, I find the library much more peaceful ☮️. There are no strict rules at the library, just keep the silence.📳🤐🔇🙊 Library is at the first floor of the premises. You are free to ask any questions, no question is too silly if it helps. I'll personally try to help you. Hope you enjoy it here at Maldives 🇲🇻.

This is the image of the National Library and Arts Gallery as it looks from the outside. Couldn't go inside as it was Friday & a complete holiday in Malhe so was closed. But again we were told by our guide that this was the biggest library of Malhe. Situated very close to the Sultan Park, this library & art gallery is housed in a modern building. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THOSE VISITING MALHE IS TO CHECK THAT IT'S NOT A FRIDAY AS ALMOST EVERYTHING IS CLOSED ON FRIDAY. ESPECIALLY THE NATIONAL MONUMENTS AND BUILDINGS.

It is very silent. It has so many books. I like to read them all. I love books
