Probably the best thing you can find inside the Fort. An insanely cool museum — entrance is 1,000 rupees per person. Inside, there are two floors packed with fascinating exhibits, each with descriptions and fun facts. Definitely worth a visit!

I visited the Maritime Museum for the first time and had a wonderful experience! The exhibits are fascinating and well-presented, giving a great insight into Sri Lanka’s rich maritime history. The displays are informative and easy to understand, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is calm, clean, and well-maintained, making it enjoyable to explore at your own pace. A must-visit spot for history lovers and anyone interested in the sea!

The National Maritime Museum in Galle Fort is set inside an old Dutch warehouse from the 1600s. It shows ship models, fishing tools, corals, shells, and even a big whale skeleton. You can also see items found from shipwrecks like anchors and pipes. Some parts inside feel a bit hot and old, but the museum is very interesting if you like history and the sea. Worth a visit while walking around Galle Fort.

Great museum! It’s a wonderful place to visit. There’s an impressive giant whale skeleton, nearly 13.5 meters long, which is really fascinating to see. Entrance ticket is required, but it’s definitely worth it!

Old style museum partly built upon the artefacts found in the wreck of a Dutch boat. The main interest is that this short visit shows that the whole world used to do trade in Galle… Chinese, Persian, Indian, European stuff are exposed here. The archives part is full of students and searchers, you can as well see the way to do submarine archeology. Oldie but goodie!
