National Museum of Contemporary Art Αthens (ΕΜΣΤ)

One of my favorite museums in Athens. We have visited several times over the past year or so. Revolving exhibitions, so if you pay attention to what is currently showing, you will see something different every time. Thought and emotionally provoking works. Many media including paintings, video, photography, sculpture, multimedia, etc. The building is the old Fix brewery and is interesting in and of itself. There is a cafe in the lobby and sometimes a rooftop cafe that is open. The gift shop is nice, with many postcards, books, and an unusual set of items for sale compared to most museum gift shops. The museum is huge, has both elevators and escalators, and is reasonably air conditioned when it is hot outside. Highly recommend.

Great exhibitions! I love Penny Siopis retrospective exhibition curated by Katerina Gregos. An amazing story of South Africa and the world told in different mediums.

It's an interesting building with a set of exhibitions which change frequently enough to make it worth re-visiting. I've visited now just over a year apart and save for a few very large pieces, it was completely different. It's often quite political, dealing with issues of statehood etc. It's also generally accessible as an English speaker. Don't miss out on the roof terrace. Excellent views over to the Acropolis, even if the rooftop bar/restaurant has never been open whilst I've been there (possibly because I've always been in the morning) I'd thoroughly recommend a visit!

There is a lot to see and sometimes can be overwhelming as it often requires extra energy from the audience to understand and commit with an artist. Depending on the expo, sometimes this is easier than ours, especially when it requires an interaction. Unfortunately, the terrace was closed, but it's still worth going up for the view.

It was a logical move to start from the top floor and see the acropolis and go down. The 8 euro ticket is still valid. In my opinion, there were too many empty spaces, it was not very satisfactory. A maximum of 1 hour will be sufficient. have fun

One of my favorite museums in Athens and perhaps my favorite Museum of Contemporary Arts. The place is big so make sure to allot some time to be able to visit all sections of the museum. The Modern Love exhibit is really wonderful and really touched my heart. Definitely a must visit and please make sure to visit this place!

The National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens is a must-see and surprisingly, you can explore it all in just about two hours. Situated in a repurposed brewery, this museum is a treasure trove of compelling art pieces from around the world. From paintings to video installations, there's a rich diversity of art forms on display. What's more, the rotating exhibits keep the content fresh and dynamic. I appreciated the clear explanations next to each artwork, which provide context and insight into the artist's intent. Once you've taken in the art, make sure to unwind at the rooftop café. It's got breathtaking views of Athens that are not to be missed. The museum bookstore is another highlight, offering a wide selection of art-themed books and unique souvenirs. Even though the museum is sizable, I was able to view everything within a comfortable two-hour visit. It's an experience that blends education with entertainment, making it well worth your time. Plus, it gives you an excellent reason to come back and see the ever-changing exhibits.

Huge museum with sufficient space to fit the biggest art installations. Unfortunately I'm not into the installations at the time of visit. To be honest I found majority of the world to be interesting or just plain weird. Building is interesting, and has a rooftop terrace.
