National Museum of Fine Arts

The building is beautiful! Great architecture. It's located in the park surrounded by great restaurants. It's a great way to spend the afternoon. It should take about 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on how must time you spend at each exhibit. Remember to bring a 100 coin as all bags must be placed in a locker. You will get your coin back when leaving.

I really enjoyed visiting the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, mostly because of the building itself, which is absolutely stunning. The architecture and natural light give the space a lot of character and charm. As for the collection, it was honestly a bit underwhelming — not particularly rich or varied — but the setting made the visit worthwhile. It’s a peaceful spot to walk through, and entry is free, which is a bonus. Worth seeing for the building alone if you’re in the area.

It was a wonderful free and educational visit. There was great variety of all mediums of art including sculptures, interventions paintings and mixed. I surely do recommend. 10/10

I absolutely loved my visit to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. From the moment you walk in, the architecture itself feels like a work of art — soaring ceilings, natural light pouring through the glass dome, and elegant galleries that invite you to slow down and explore. One of the highlights of my visit was the Monvoisin exhibition. It’s a beautifully curated tribute to the artist. The portraits are rich in emotion and detail, and the historical context provided alongside the works adds real depth to the experience. I left with a new appreciation not only for Monvoisin’s art, but for his role in Chilean history and education. This museum offers a perfect blend of classical and contemporary art, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a wonderful place to reflect and recharge. Whether you’re an art lover or just curious, it’s definitely worth a visit. Don’t miss it!

Beautiful museum but a lot of modern art that's not for everyone. It is FREE and open plenty of hours for a wander around.

This Museum is a beautiful place to spend a few hours. The building itself is gorgeous, and the sculptures are absolutely amazing—you can even see the veins in their arms, just mind-blowing! The museum has a nice mix of Chilean and international art. Some areas are currently closed for renovations. It’s a bit of a bummer, but there’s still plenty to see and enjoy. Best of all? It’s totally free to visit!! It’s definitely worth checking out while you’re in Santiago.

Situated in a beautiful building, which is worth a look in itself. When we went, Easter Weekend, there were only three small exhibitions open - still certainly worth a look for about an hour or so. Quite busy, but not oppressively so - definitely worth a visit.

Both this gallery and the adjacent museo de arte contemporaneo are super cool and definitely worth a visit while in town! Also, they’re both free!

A stunning structure along the Parque Forestal, this grand building has free admission. An excellent rotating collection, when I was here there was a great display of sculptures, photography and modern art. All very interesting and well worth the two hours I spent. The captions are in Spanish as was the only map that I was able to find but with their free wifi (bonus!) and Google Translate, I was able to work out what I was looking at and what it was about. Very nice space, excellent museum.

Really cool museum, 2 buildings interconnected, free admission! The contemporary museum is in one of the building and the fine arts museum is in the adjacent building connected by a walkway between the two. The exterior of the building is really cool looking, lot of sculptural details adorn the side of the building. The museum has 2 floors in each building and a ton of exhibit rooms. The contemporary side had some interesting and weird art items. There were some disturbing photographs and videos of random things. I liked the fine art side alot better. There were alot of neo-classical sculptures in the fine arts building, beautiful paintings that still looks real after hundreds of years since they were created. It was not busy when we went on a weekday, just one group of students on a field trip. Everything was very cool and well maintained, bathrooms are clean. Free wifi!

Beautiful building with rotating art exhibits. Sculptures are a global collection from various museums including the Louvre in Paris, France. Explore all the rooms, movies and the adjacent MAC connected by a corridor passage. Most signage is in Spanish with limited English information. Admission is free for a reason.

One of the more contemporary art museums in Santiago Bellas Artes is a great place to visit on a raining day or if you're quickly passing through Santiago. The museum is even open on Sundays whoo! I got to go when Los Jaivas (a popular Chilean musical group) had an exhibition. The museum is several floors loaded with all kinds of art works. I have also seen a kids art exhibit which was very touching and inspiring. The museum could not have a more perfect location. Right inside Forestal park, walking distance from Santa Lucia hill, and in the middle of tons of yummy restaurants to choose from. Make a day marveling at the inspiring at inside and then enjoy a nice stroll in the park or a tasty meal. You can take your camera inside too which is always a plus. I recommend going on a weekday when the museum is not as crowded and you can really take in all the art.

This is a stop on the hop on hop off bus. Easily accessible by the subway system as well. Lots to see.

Chile's main art museum now has only a small part of its excellent collection of Chilean painting on display, confining it to just six small rooms on the second floor. The rest of the museum is given over to temporary exhibitions of varying interest. The elegant, neoclassical building, which was originally intended to house the city's school of fine arts, has an impressive glass-domed ceiling that illuminates the main hall. Guided tours in English are available in January and February. Located in Jose Miguel de la Barra and Ismael Valdés (Lastarria); Opening from Tuesday trough Sunday - 10 AM to 7 PM.

For me, this "Beaux-arts style" museum was all about the architecture rather than the art. There was a giant Christmas tree sized display of clothes in the center and some exhibitions from artists that I didn't connect with emotionally. I appreciated the building, with it's giant statuesque columns, lead windows, old hardwood floors and history far more than the art itself. And the best part, it only costs 600 pesos or about $1.00 to enter. A great place to visit and then have lunch in lovers lane (aka, the "park") across the street. I saw far more sites there of all Chile's lovers, loving each other in public than I did in the museum. :-)
