8 best art galleries to visit in Mumbai - SilverKris
"Opened in January 2019 in two buildings off Peddar Road, this museum traces Indian cinema from silent films through Partition and New Wave movements across eight galleries in a heritage bungalow (Gulshan Mahal) and a new glass annexe; visitors can see hand-painted movie posters and black-and-white reels, explore a 'Gandhi & Cinema' gallery, use an interactive Children’s Film Studio, and study a dedicated floor of film-technology artifacts such as cameras, lenses and lighting equipment." - Noor Mayal Khanna
National Museum of Indian Cinema is a well-curated and engaging space that showcases the journey of Indian cinema from its early days to the modern era. The exhibits include vintage cameras, film equipment, posters, costumes, and interactive displays that explain the filmmaking process clearly. The museum is spacious, informative, and visually engaging. A must-visit for film lovers, creatives, and anyone interested in India’s cinematic history.

4 floors. You start from top floor and end at ground. Apart from viewing the posters it also has activities such as live song recording, video clipping, vfx, cartoon, quiz etc
The entire indoor section is covered with A/c. If you can’t withstand Mumbai’s temperature outside just buy Rs. 165 ticket here and chill in A/c 😉
Overall great infra & proud to see the rise on Indian cinemas from 19th century

It's a good place for having a fun time with family and friends...It takes you through how the whole cinema in India evolved...It is a well organised and planned place...
The only thing is just needs to up keep and need to be maintained, else might lose the sheen it has right now...

My first visit after staying in Mumbai for 10 years. A must visit for all locals as well as tourists who love movies and movie making. You would definitely learn complete history of movies in India. All live camera, lights, technology etc demonstrated. Audio guided tour is really helpful. Proper parking at Rs 100 and Rs 140 per head for audio guided tour with device. Don’t miss this.

Good to see history of Cinema. Place is beautifully maintained. Staff is courteous and helpful. The highlight however is the Gandhi figurine. So real!! Much better than any at Madam Tussauds.
