"If These Artifacts Could Talk The National Museum of Korea is the largest museum in Korea and houses a comprehensive collection of Korean cultural artifacts that tell the story of Korea’s fascinating history, from ancient days to the modern era. There’s also the Children’s Museum—not only a wonderful playground and play space for children but also an impressive interactive exhibit that teaches children Korean history and heritage. Best of all, admission to the museum, including Children’s Museum, is free. By Sharon In"

Stunning virtual museum tours to catch from your couch  - SilverKris

"Home to artefacts spanning ancient to modern times, this major repository of Korean history, art and culture has opened several exhibition halls for virtual viewing. The museum also provides English‑subtitled videos that dive into specific objects and themes—examples include explanations of Egyptian hieroglyphs and presentations on large-scale Buddhist hanging scrolls." - Joy Fang

My first time visiting this new museum (last time was the old one in the 90's) and I was thoroughly impressed. It's really modern and clean. You will see a lot of visual arts and even guide robots. The korean collection throughout the dynasties is quite comprehensive. They have a lot of religious and Buddhist items as well so be sure to check them out. The meditation room is the most famous. Greek and roman items are all copies and subpar so you can skip em. Average collection for other Asian countries and Islam. When we went there they had special exhibition of 이순신 which was free for the day and pretty well curated (i got pretty emotional with seeing his journey again). Lastly they have an amazing museum shop with a lot of pretty and high quality items. The museum has subway entrance tunnel carved out all the way and some nearby bus stops as well. You also get a great view of 남산 and slick architecture of the museum building outside. Come ready to spend hours and walk 15k steps easy.

Great place to get acquainted with the Korean culture and history. The place itself is very comfortable and beautiful. That's a great pleasure just to walk around the territory. But the real magic starts inside. There are both historical and cultural expositions, some of them have also interactive digital experiences which are really interesting to try on. They also have all the explanations translated to English. Be ready to spend more than 2 hours here. I've spent 3 hours here during my first day in Korea and was forced to leave only because it was the end of the day. There are lots of resting areas around the building so you'll never be too tired to explore one more room. Tips: * Book the AR experience on the Museum website in advance. It's totally worth it! * Check for the announcements of the special events and exhibitions. The can expand your museum experience. Mostly they're free

First time visiting National Museum of Korea. They had really interesting treasures and art crafts from old dynasties. Permanent exhibition is free. They also have special exhibitions for about $15. This time, they have Robert Lehman collection from the Metropolitan Museum. Both exhibitions were great. Strongly recommending!

A special option for tourists if you are looking for a stunning view of the N Seoul Tower. Other than exhibitions, the surroundings of National Museum of Korea is really good and peaceful. It is for people who is in love with museum visiting.

This museum is massive, and you could spend all day here if you add in the art exhibit (I only did the main exhibit). There are lots of clay pots and scrolls on display, so it can be easy to lose interest as they all start to look the same. That’s not to say there is not interesting stuff to see, there definitely is! It was nice to spend the afternoon here.

The permanent collections are FREE to visit. Special exhibitions require a paid ticket. There is currently an exhibit of impressionist artwork from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Tickets for adults are 19,000₩. This is a good opportunity for those who enjoy impressionist/Western art but can’t access it easily. 4/5 stars because the museum uses AI videos in their exhibit honouring the marathon runner Son Kee-Chung. Also, The Buddhist painting gallery and the calligraphy and painting gallery are currently closed. There is so much to see here. I recommend checking the map and focusing on exhibits that interest you. There is a LOT of ceramic work like porcelain, celadon etc, which was not interesting to me. In addition to Korean art, there’s Ancient Roman and Greek, Central Asian, Buddhist art and a lot more. The museum has a light show/display on the ground floor pagoda every Wednesday and Saturday at 20:00. This was fun to watch. You go through airport scanners when first entering the museum and there are many lockers to store your belongings. The museum shop has a great selection of items at prices for every budget.

The building is as impressive as its collection. It free to enter unless one wants to visit special galleries. It was very good subway connectivity. Food and beverages aren’t allowed inside but there are free lockers to keep bags and food. Must visit if one is in Seoul.

The most beautiful museum in Seoul. The building itself is stunning, just like the views of N Tower and the small traditional lookout on the main pond. The pieces in this museum are unique and invaluable for understanding Korea’s history, but there are also items from other cultures that have had an influence
