"For many years the highlight of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, was the famous Mustard Museum, run by a local celebrity (Barry Levenson, famous for the mustard museum, naturally) and home to a huge collection of both new and “antique” mustards from all over the world. The museum was small, but delightful, and the collection of antique-mustard serving sets was particularly charming. There was also a stream of movies, such as Mustard: The Spice of Nations, shown throughout the day on a big television in a little seating area known as the “Mustard Piece Theatre.” When the growing collection strained the location, the mustard museum moved 18 miles to Middleton. Now dubbed the National Mustard Museum, it houses an extensive collection devoted to what staff call “the king of condiments, the “collegiate “Poupon U,” and a  gift shop that offers hundreds of mustards ranging from fruity to super hot, all of which can be sampled on request. If one is really serious about mustard, the first Saturday of August is National Mustard Day, and cause for a full-on festival at the museum." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

What an odd find - but fun!! Ended up buying 2 bottles of delicious mustard. The tasting bar was very cool. Unique experience. Would recommend stopping in if only to see some of the off-beat mustard related history and items.

A fun little museum that you can stop by while poking around Middleton. The museum itself is small but it is also free and just one of those fun little hidden things that makes small cities so great. Upstairs is the main shop where you can sample a great deal of mustards and even purchase some interesting mustards.

This place was pretty cool. The outright ick they have for ketchup was hilarious. They let you sample the various kinds of mustards, so you really know what you're getting before you buy them. I think my favorite part was that they were willing to ship them to you. Yes, please! Save me the weight in my luggage. Everyone was very friendly. Worth the stop in our opinion!

It is a small museum but so cool to check out especially if you are mustard lover. But if you're not, this is also good to visit. Just like me, I don't like yellow mustard but I had no idea until I visited this museum that mustard could come with different flavors. They're so good! They have free taste, so you can choose which mustard do you like.

This place far exceeded my expectations. It was so much fun! I never knew there were so many mustard options. A great visual experience and a great gift shop to go along with it!

I’ve lived in Madison for several years and somehow have never been! My family was in town on a very rainy day, so I suggested we check it out. It was a neat, fun little museum and I enjoyed trying some samples. I wouldn’t say I’m the biggest mustard aficionado but they had such an interesting variety of flavors - ginger curry, dill pickle, and root beer?? And hundreds more. Would recommend if you find yourself with some time to kill and/or enjoy trying new condiments and learning some niche history.

I found this museum at random, during one of my many Google Maps browsing sessions. At first, I thought it was odd. Then I told my wife about it, who got super excited. The next day, we drove roughly 150 miles to visit. Admission was free, so this was totally worth the gas cost, right? When you first enter, you're met with a cute little gift shop. You will be spending big here later. Downstairs, you find what, albeit educational, can only be described as one big meme. They also offer a free tasting and $2 pretzels with the mustard of your choice. Small place (1-ish hour total), but so worth it! P.S.: Don't worry; we also stayed the night and explored the greater Madison area and then some for a fun weekend trip, but this was certainly a highlight!

If you're looking for something unique and fun to do, I suggest checking this place out. The museum is free, and the gift shop has more mustard for sale than you could shake a pretzel stick at.
