National Pinacotheca of Cagliari

Beautifully presented art museum, full of impressive church art (most in astonishingly good condition given its age) from Cagliari and beyond. Some more modern collections on other floors. Good English commentary.

How do you feel about religious triptychs that used to grace the altars and walls of various cathedrals? I enjoyed it but it was overshadowed by the amazing archaeology museum next door included in the same ticket.

The museum website says it is temporarily closed. So it is, but Google info shows it open, and no one has thought to indicate that it is closed at the entrance to the museum complex. So the casual visitor climbs lots of steps, in 38C heat and high humidity, to find a building site. A simple notice would be good.

Really worth a visit. Very beautiful works of art. Really gives you an understanding of how rich is Italy and Cagliari, in terms of culture.

Religious art with labels mostly in Italian, some in English as well. Not the most exciting of museums. The building itself is rather interesting.
