Wow wow wow...I have been to Juneau 4 times and this was my first visit to the national shrine of st. Terese. 100% make the time to visit regardless of you religious beliefs. The nature you will see is exquisite! If you are Catholic, the walk with the stations of the cross is incredibly moving and will raise your spirit. The love meditation garden is lovely and I could not imagine not finding some inner peace during your visit. 100% visit!!

What a beautiful shrine a d surrounding property. There is a gravel lot for parking and a short steep trail down to the bathroom and retreat buildings. The bathrooms were heated and very clean, which was nice this time of year. Not far from that were some of the well maintained planting areas and the gift shop. But the real gem is the causeway to the island where the shrine to St Therese is. The walk is great out to the wooded island, with plenty of sea and land animals being seen to either side. Once you reach the island, there is a trail with a series of small shrines about the life of Jesus, statuary, and peaceful quiet. Inside the beautiful church is a guest book, a place to buy a Saint's pendant, and plenty of pews to sit in quiet reflection. I'm so glad we took the time to come out here as it was a highlight of our visit to Juneau.

Google
Very nice, beautiful and breathtaking place. We have good sunny weather and view was crazy good. If you visit in time when Salman at spawning you have grate chance to come really close and see it. This was grate time and opportunity to be there. If you on cruise jut rent a car and get here it worth it.

Google
An absolutely beautiful setting. If you visit Juneau make the effort to get there. For some reason it doesn't appear on most of the top things to do lists for Juneau.

Such a beautiful location! Very well maintained and in an amazing location. There were marmots along the trail to the Shrine of St. Thérèse.

There is an undescribable sense of peace. The church and grounds are well kept. Free public parking, short walk to the premises.

The National Shrine of Saint Therese overlooks Lynn Canal and the Chilkat Mountains. It's situated on 46 acres. The site contains a stone chapel, crypt, labyrinth, columbarium, lodge, cabin, and retreat. We spent a few hours just exploring the property which is free to do. The chapel was closed so we did not go in it but we could walk around it. The gardens were beautiful and very peaceful. The website has all the information on the rentals.

Google
Absolutly fantastic place to visit while in Juneau. The history and peace of this place was a welcome break from the business of a cruise ship. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The most beautiful place in the entire world. This is a must see place in Juneau. Will be back. I recommend all Juneau tourists (cruise ship passengers or travelers) to come see these views.

Yelp
I may be biased as a Catholic, but this place is full of beauty! I've seen marmots here, sea lions, searched for starfish, looked for the northern lights, watched people surf here, and greeted by hot chocolate in the lodge. On Christmas Eve, I arrived at the shrine just as a brightly lit moon was rising and set a glowing path over the water, as the Milky Way beamed overhead. Truly magical. It's always a treat to attend mass here. I know the shrine is open year-round, but I only wish that masses could be held year round also

Yelp
One of the most tranquil and beautiful Catholic Churches I have ever been to. Located in the tranquil Forrest of Juneau and lying next to a bay. This church provide a solemn place to pray and meditate. The view from the back of the church provides a great scenery of the bay as well as snow capped mountains. If you are lucky, you'll get to see a whale breach or come up for breath. A must see.

Yelp
This place is so gorgeous! We came here to take some wedding photos. Our photographer friends found it the day before after asking some locals for good photo spots. We walked straight to the church with no problems. There were quite a few cabins (tiny to big) along the path that you could tell were being rented out. There is a final peninsula where the actual church is. You can't see the church from the peninsula because the landing is covered in super tall trees. Once you're in there, you can hear all of the ravens cawing and flying about. The church and the surroundings are all made of stone, wood, and what looks like ivory. It's absolutely breath taking. Outside of the church they have a statue of each station of the cross as well as a memorial for the unborn. The church is open to those who wish to meditate and pray when a service is not in session, but we didn't go in. The landing is beautiful to look from. You can see that the adjacent harbor is a life force for the local fish and birds. It's neat observe them in their natural habitat. It would be another wonderful place to meditate.

Yelp
Could use some upgrades but GO. This is a must-see but be prepared for minimal services, lots of religion, and hokey stations of the cross. It's free.

Yelp
I'm no worshipper of Cathol, but nevertheless I was extremely moved by the beauty of this shrine and the peaceful and reflective atmosphere. The chapel and grounds are worth a visit and the gift shop operates on a trust basis, where you are encouraged to leave payment in a lock box. Cabins can be rented on the property for a very reasonable fee. I liked the benches with scripture carved on them.
