Rainy day at the museum: check.
This museum is humongous and even though I spent a good three hours there, I barely even browsed half of the museum, let alone examining and absorbing each of the exhibits.
A few exhibits I'd recommend:
The main floor has several rooms dedicated to an exhibition of art that celebrates Taiwan's culture and how it's evolved over the last 50 years. It was cool to see what aspect of the island each artist chose to depict and how they interpreted these changes.
The third floor has a ton of work that highlights Taiwan's aboriginal population. Make sure to pick up a free audio guide from the information desk for some cool story snippets on those pieces.
On the east wing of the museum's first floor, there's a room that has thousands of audio clips geocached on an interactive map and you zoom in and out to listen to various sounds of the island. Whether in the middle of a dense city or in the middle of the mountains, it was an immersed experience that let me explore Taiwan in a different way.
