As a Canadian visiting Prague, attending a performance at the National Theatre was a highlight of my trip. The building itself is stunning, with its grand facade and opulent interiors, making it an experience even before the show begins. The rich history of the theatre is palpable as soon as you step inside, with intricate architectural details that transport you to another era.
I attended an opera performance, and it was nothing short of spectacular. One thing I appreciated was the subtitles provided above the stage, which made it easy to follow along with the story, even though I don’t speak Czech. The emotions conveyed through the music and acting were powerful, but having the subtitles definitely enhanced my understanding of the performance. The orchestra added to the atmosphere, making the entire experience feel truly world-class.
One minor downside was that the seats were a bit tight and uncomfortable after sitting for a long time, but it didn’t detract much from the overall experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable evening.
For anyone visiting Prague, the National Theatre is a must-see, whether you’re an opera fan or simply want to appreciate the beauty of this cultural gem. Four stars for an unforgettable night!
