The modern ballet was OK. Even good at times. But really I just want to say what a beautiful venue this is. The decor is classy, atmospheric, and historic. Every surface is gorgeous. Also, the seating was really great. We were 15th row center (only 16 rows total), but the view was still perfect. It's a really intimate space. Whatever the show, I highly recommend an evening in this beautiful venue.

Absolutely stunning! Really worth watching a performance here. Very classic and gorgeous interiors and excellent performers. We watched a ballet, Scheherazade. After the ballet we dined at the Cafe Louvre which is another Czech landmark and one of the oldest cafes. It’s only about a 3 minute walk from the theatre. Very affordable, filled with friendly staff and overall it’s a great time.

Absolutely beautiful facility. We were there for Cinderella which was done with a modern interpretation. I would have rather seen a classical choreography, but it was wonderful in its own way. I'm sure the dancers get tired of doing the same old thing, but for those of us who see ballet rarely we'd like to see the classics. It would have been nice to know in advance that it would be modern. It's possible that was clear on the website in Czech but it wasn't to us in English. Not complaining. Just feedback. It was wonderful.

What an Experience! We got the cheap standing tickets for less than 8€ and got ourselves a beer for another few euros. The ballet piece we saw, Sarkasm was a lovely contemporary ballet piece from three different choreographers with clever critiques of societes‘ conformist pressures. Such a beautiful venue and the terrace on the first floor is absolutely breathtaking during sunset! 10/10

We were fortunate to get amongst the very last few tickets for Scherzade ballet at the national theatre. Enjoyed the concert and the Prague National Theatre .

As a Canadian visiting Prague, attending a performance at the National Theatre was a highlight of my trip. The building itself is stunning, with its grand facade and opulent interiors, making it an experience even before the show begins. The rich history of the theatre is palpable as soon as you step inside, with intricate architectural details that transport you to another era. I attended an opera performance, and it was nothing short of spectacular. One thing I appreciated was the subtitles provided above the stage, which made it easy to follow along with the story, even though I don’t speak Czech. The emotions conveyed through the music and acting were powerful, but having the subtitles definitely enhanced my understanding of the performance. The orchestra added to the atmosphere, making the entire experience feel truly world-class. One minor downside was that the seats were a bit tight and uncomfortable after sitting for a long time, but it didn’t detract much from the overall experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable evening. For anyone visiting Prague, the National Theatre is a must-see, whether you’re an opera fan or simply want to appreciate the beauty of this cultural gem. Four stars for an unforgettable night!

Wonderful theatre. Even though the only tickets I could get were standing ones still enjoyed the experience. There is an excellent website for booking.

Yelp
Built in 1877, this theater is beautiful inside and outside! But don't just come look at it...experience it! Theater tickets in Prague about 1/3rd the cost of seeing a live show in America, take advantage! I enjoyed an amazing presentation of Carmen, my first time! Loved it! For $35, I got a seat inside a semi private box, which I think would been at least $100 anywhere in America. Be sure to dress up a notch than your usual crappy travel wear...dress shirt and khakis/slacks at minimum for men.

Yelp
Beautiful renascentist facade building, finished in 1877 but was inaugurated in 1881 with the opera Libuše. It's worth the visit from the outside. Hermoso edificio de estilo neorenacentista del 1877 pero inaugurado el 1881 con la ópera Libuše. Vale la pena la visita desde afuera.

Yelp
An amazing theatre which should be experienced by as many people as possible. We attended it to see Lohengrin (Wagner's opera) and it was a wonderful spectacle with accompanying excellent acoustics from the orchestra.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. The interior is beautiful--you need to go to each landing--and you can go to the roof to get some city shots across the river. The play was also great--it was in a foreign language but you can follow along somewhat for the scenery. Be sure to get directions to your seating, they have double stairways on each side which is a bit confusing. Highly recommend if you get a chance to spend the evening here!
