"A Night at Ibsen's Main Stage Oslo’s main theatre opened its doors in 1899, featuring plays by Bjørnson, Holberg, and Ibsen, and as a consequence put Norwegian plays on the map, so to speak. The theatre still preforms all the old classics as well as exciting new plays. Nationaltheatret came to be Ibsens theatre, and attracted, and indeed still attracts, most of Norway’s actors of repute. Located by the high street Karl Johan en route to the Royal Palace, it’s strategically placed close to lots of other interesting highlights as well!"

Located in the heart of Oslo, it is a key venue for theatrical performances, including plays, operas, and other cultural events. The theatre's opening in 1899 was a major national event, attended by King Oscar II of Sweden and Norway. It has survived two world wars and remains a resilient symbol of Norwegian culture. The National Theater of Oslo, and amazing building at the end of the Parlament square, next to the University building. You cannot go inside if not for a function, but if you go like an hour before, they will let you go inside for a quick look. The architecture inside is wonderful, and deserve to spend some time there. Must visit it.

Yelp
Beautiful building in Oslo, Norway. Our friends took us here while we were visiting this incredible city. Did we watch a performance here? Unfortunately, the answer was no because time would not allow it. Did not even go inside. :( They said that our stay in Oslo needs to be longer next time. Apparently, there are a few guided tours to choose from for exploring the National Theater and learning more about its history. I think it was built in 1899. It is a stunning tourist attraction. The outside of this building is simply lovely. The fountain close by is quite wonderful also. Maybe one day we will go inside. Our friends say that you cannot truly appreciate it til you walk in there.

Yelp
The National Theatre in Oslo is one of Norway's largest and most prominent venues for performance of dramatic arts. The main building is centrally located between the Royal Palace, Oslo and the Parliament of Norway. It is served by National Theatre Station and National Theatre metro stations. It was designed by architect Henrik Bull. Tourist attraction, however beautiful and detailed architecture buildings to photograph.
