The Best Things to Do in Albuquerque, the Hot Air Balloon Capital of the U.S.

"Nativo Lodge's launch-field proximity makes it a favorite among balloonists, but it’s also a destination for art mavens: Bold-faced names in contemporary Native American art have painted murals in 60 guest rooms."

Great location. Dated hotel, definitely could use a deep cleaning. The concept is fun, the artist room are interesting. I feel like time management may have been an issue, as some of the rooms look almost done, or like they were in a hurry to slap some paint on the walls and call it done. Front desk staff could have been friendlier. Overall a neat experience. Select an artist room for a unique overnight stay.

The Lodge is very nice but unfortunately we were booked for a 3rd Floor room and the elevator was out. They were accommodating and gave us a room on the 1st floor. The 3rd had a beautiful view, the 1st floor, we looked at a hedge and a wall. We kept the drapes closed the whole time we were there. Also make sure you read the fine print, there is a $20. a day amenities fee that is charged after you check in. We had thought we got a good deal on our room only to fine and upcharge of $20. per day. The Lodge is very nice, the indoor/outdoor pool is clean and relaxing. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable. We were in New Mexico for a wedding and the room had and ironing board and iron which made getting ready helpful. Overall it was a good experience and would recommend this place but like I said earlier "read the fine print!"

Staff was so kind, professional, and helpful! Very fast service as well! It was so refreshing to have staff be kind and helpful! Makes a huge difference in our stay! The beds were very comfortable and the rooms clean! The pool was great! We will be coming back and highly recommend to anyone looking for reasonable rates and a comfortable stay!

Google
We rented the presidential suit absolutely filthy!! The carpets are black with filth not only in the rooms but throughout the hotel pool area was nice and clean. The bar was closed and the restaurant didn't open until 4 with only 1 employee the wait was horrible and no liquor licenses at the restaurant so we had to get a way over priced drink at the little pop up bar they had in the lobby very little selection. We pay good money to stay in a place with good amenities this place had no amenities. No place to eat breakfast dog friendly, however there is no place to take your dogs other than walking across a busy street to the Presbyterian grass area. Overall this was gross and not pleased at all save your money I'm pretty sure the cheap motel 6 would have been cleaner and they have breakfast.

Google
Our stay was overall great, but the walls were really thin, and we could hear the family next to us too well, even though they were not being really loud. Staff were nice, and the pools and hot tub were great. Location was great for use passing through Albuquerque on a long road trip--easy on, easy off, with lots of restaurants nearby.

Google
More than accommodating. Such a nice place if you are interested in culture. Lobby area is beautiful! Our check-in made it great from the start. It's a much older hotel but the upkeep is great. I plan on this being my go to when visiting my daughter. Rooms was clean.

I’m 15 weeks pregnant and struggling with morning sickness still. Between 12pm-2pm the front desk came knocking on my door 4 times badgering me about rechecking into my room. The Room is already paid for but apparently it was ABSOLUTELY VITAL that I rush to the front desk RIGHT AWAY to pay their $20 amenity fee when they literally have zero amenities. Front desk lady arguing with me thru the door about this while I have my head hung in the toilet and i explained this multiple times in her multiple visits to my room. This hotel is way overpriced for what it’s worth. I pay less name brand hotel rooms in San Diego, California than I paid for this hotel. I have literally stayed in thousands upon thousands of hotels and I have never had a front desk person find it so necessary to bang on my door about re-checking in over and over when it is barely 2 o’clock in the afternoon and the room HAS ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR. Seems like the front desk lady needs more to do to occupy her time.

I have to travel to Albuquerque a lot for work. I've stayed at so many locations and have been unsatisfied for many different reasons. After staying at this location for a week, I felt very safe. They have security on site the whole time. Albuquerque can be a crazy place but it was very calm. The staff is amazing and eager to accommodate. It's super close to freeway so it's easy to get anywhere in town quickly. They do charge a resort fee but it covers what every hotel usually charges for and more. The view of the mountains is nice. The only downside is that it needs a little modernization. Especially the TV equipment. The only reason I have a 4/5 for the room. The decor is nice. Everything is super clean. It's really a great location if you're visiting. I will recommend.

Yelp
Very nice room and very basic. The staff was nice and courteous. Try to get there before midnight... Star was hard to get ahold of. It has a beautiful lobby. Secured parking. Very nice hotel and good value.

Yelp
They hand you a beer at check in! They price match the lowest price I found on line. Easy parking. Nice room. We had a small problem and maintenance was there is less than 5 minutes great shower. Front desk was so nice; check in was quick. I was able to complete my reservation by phone on the way. I requested a room with a view and got it.

Yelp
I want to give Nativo a fair review, and although I realize hotels have many different merits, I will do my best to stay objective. I cannot give higher remarks to the staff at Nativo. From the maintenance to the security, front desk and restaurant, it seems like the people who work here care about the human experience and are invested in elevating it. Rooms are simple and affordable, and the vibe of the hotel is very comfortable. The pool was very clean and the jacuzzi hot. Late check out is awesome. Safe parking. Good coffee. Rad art. Kids love it (especially newborns!) Thanks nativo, we will be back!

Yelp
Fun, unique hotel. We enjoyed all the art and swimming in the pool, which is indoor and outdoor. It was also fun to check out the teepee. It's an older hotel so it lacks some amenities but it's very clean. The staff were also friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I stayed at Nativo Lodge for three nights over the summer and I had high hopes for it because it is within walking distance of a family members house. My stay started off on a bad foot because I was first placed in a ground level room that had a HUGE centipede/millipede/creature on the ceiling. It looked like something you would see at the zoo. It was terrifying. I was immediately moved to a fifth floor room, but couldn't shake my experience on the first floor. I was tempted to leave the hotel, but still wanted to give it a shot. It was ok. The hotel is old and even though it is probably clean, it appears dirty. There is no fitness center, which is a bummer. The website doesn't mention one, so I guess I should have looked into this more (Google maps mentions one, leading me to think there was one). Some of the lightbulbs were burnt out and our room never got cleaned. I suppose we could have asked, but we would get to our room pretty late in the day and housekeeping probably wasn't even there anymore. The beds were pretty comfortable, but the AC unit was very loud and made odd noises. The staff was great though. Overall I think you get what you pay for but I would not stay here again.

Yelp
The hotel is really cool looking, especially when traveling with kids. We got an artist room.. we liked it a lot. We came for first weekend of balloon fiesta. They have grab and go breakfast burritos starting at 4 am. The only negative thing is their actual customer service. The ladies up at the front were all really great.. when we first checked in on Friday I asked the lady if they had any Sunday late checkouts because I knew it was a crazy weekend for the fiesta. She said they did and I could check out at 2 pm. However the next day I went to get something from front desk and a man told someone they don't have late checkouts. I asked him to confirm that mine was already done and he was very rude and told me there were no late checkouts during balloon fiesta weekends. I told him I spoke to another employee and he didn't even let me finish talking before telling me again they don't have late checkouts. I would have been ok with it had she told me the day before because we made lunch reservations for 245 so we had nowhere to go from 12 til about 230. Otherwise all was fine.

Yelp
Yes this is outdated but has tons of Character. Staff was above and beyond friendly and helpful! Bonus you get a drink when checking in and this place is dog friendly. We only stayed for one night but would have stayed longer if we could.

Yelp
Overall it was fine, it was okay. The hotel is very cool looking. There is a lot of decoration and they offer "artist rooms" that look amazing from the pictures. I stayed in a regular room with a king bed. The room has a fridge which is nice, but no microwave. They also advertise a safe in the room, and I was unable to find it. The property is obviously older and they have attempted to update it. Many of the furniture pieces in the room was damaged or dirty. The bed was comfortable enough, but the comforter was old. The filling had developed lumps over time. It is summer so I just used the sheets. They charge a resort fee, which I think get's you a can of beer or a cup of wine, the free use off the casino size water bottle in the room and you can take the nature valley bar without charge. There is no food or food serving on site. When I first walked in I waited at the first desk. Seemed like there was no one in the hotel, which was strange because it was 6pm, it wasn't late at night or early in the morning. I waited a couple of minutes and walked to the second desk, where I did see a staff member. I hadn't seen her at first and she hadn't noticed me because she was sitting on a chair against the wall using her phone. When I said hello she quickly got up and she was very pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
Comfortable but lacking some options. There's a coffee station in the lobby, but no breakfast. Restaurant does not open until 11. Free water and coffee though, just have to ask the front desk. The rooms have balcony's which is nice, furniture and bathrooms are a bit outdated but it looks like they are remodeling. Indoor-outdoor pool heated all year long. We would stay here again if we could find a better deal on the room, front desk agent said use Expedia for better rates.

Yelp
it has risen from the ashes. it's great. There is a Garduno's restaurant on the premises now. The food is delicious. The drinks are the bomb. My server was Cody. Excellent server, very nice. The people at the desk were kind and efficient. They offer discounts if you are in the area for a medical appointment. The native artwork is interesting.

Yelp
This hotel has a nice concept and the employees were nice but definitely had no atmosphere on a Sunday . The restaurant and bar were closed so there was NOTHING to do onsite. The place definitely has alot of potential.

Yelp
We were walk-ins staying one night with our elderly dog. We almost didn't stay given lower Yelp reviews but Trip Advisor reviews were great so we decided to at least check it out and we are super happy with our selection. Check out the photos which include my full Trip Advisor review and you'll see Collin impressed us with his hospitality and the place in general was great. I'd love to stay again and we will if we come back for the hot air balloon festival.

Yelp
Elevator's didn't work. Ice machine was broken. Shower didn't work. Would not recommend.

Yelp
The customer service is wonderful. The lady at the front desk was super friendly and very helpful. They had no problem honoring my request for early check in. The room was delightful with all the painting. Only suggestion I have is Since you are so very small dog friendly maybe where the dog station is with bags and can can be redone in grass? Thank you for a very enjoyable stay

Yelp
DISGUSTING! DUSTY! BLOOD and STAINS ON BEDDING! BED CASE WITH LOCK AND NO TOP SHEET? HAIR/PUBLIC HAIR ALL OVER THE ROOM AND BEDDING! TOE NAIL CLIPPINGS! AT $173 a night plus a $50 fee?!? WHAT A DISGRACE FAKE REVIEWS ON TRIP ADVISOR I wanted a staycation for my daughter and her friend to swim and enjoy the last weekend of spring break. This hotel had high ratings on booking.com and TripAdvisor which now I'm convinced are fake reviews. Google reviews are completely accurate and by the looks of it this place has been a dump for years. They charged me almost $180 for one night with a king size bed. The elevator smelled like cigarette smoke. We went straight to the pool before we even looked at the room which was a mistake. The pool was an ordinary pool indoor outdoor with no heating. The jacuzzi didn't have enough water in it and the jets were shooting everywhere. There were no towels and tons of people. Everyone seemed to be unhappy with the amenities. When we went back to our room I noticed immediately that it wasn't vacuumed and it was very musty and dusty. I tried to suck it up and not let it ruin my daughter's time. I called to let the front desk know which they replied "we will let housecleaning know your recommendations tomorrow morning which was very dismissive. He didn't care whatsoever. I started inspecting the bed and it made me so upset and disgusted that we pack to and went straight to the front desk to ask for a manager. Front desk said that there would be no manager till Monday morning! Excuse me? He looked like he felt bad but, he definitely knew exactly the kind of state these rooms are in. I didn't even bother asking for a refund. We ended up going somewhere else. So upsetting. Picture below

Yelp
When I showed up after my 8 hour drive from Colorado. He immediately looked at me and my ID and declined me service. I was not informed by the 3rd party app that it was a 21+ hotel (not 18+). When I asked to see it on their terms or written, the man told me I could look it up on my phone. I did find it in the faq selection on their website. After having an extremely unpleasant interaction with the worker (I believe the manager). He was completely unwilling to refer me to another hotel and handed me a paper with my cancellation number and welcomed me to leave. He was extremely rude. I wouldn't have found this whole situation frustrating if I hadn't stayed here before, but I had. Maybe I just got a staff member that didn't care last time but they should've filled me in on their terms. Still, I don't like being scolded by a staff employee for a simple mistake. I will say last time I stayed here, it was very nice!

Nichol R.

Yelp
This place was run down and sketchy. Basically an old hotel that has been repainted to try and look like it has character. Feels like an old Motel 6 that you hesitate to sleep in because it doesn't feel clean. What ticked me off was an added $22 amenity fee that was not disclosed beforehand. When I asked what it covered it was for security around building (proving it's sketchy) free water in the rooms and pool use - all things that are included in a room fee at any main chain hotel. Do not stay here. You can get much better accomodations for the price.

Yelp
The worst hotel experience I've ever had to deal with. The exterior is absolutely gorgeous. The colors and indoor ambiance is unmatched and was one of the main reason for booking this hotel. We booked the Mountain View room with for the final weekend of the Ballon Fiesta Festival. When we arrived to the hotel and approached the desk, we spoke to one of the associates, Dillon. I gave my first and last name, only for Dillon to tell us that there was no booking under my name. I had told him that I booked it through a travel agency and had asked him if he could check again only for him to tell us that our booking was cancelled back in mid September. I told him that I myself had not cancelled it nor was I aware or received any word of a cancellation. He then told me they (the Nativo Hotel) themselves did not cancel it and it seemed like and external company had made the cancellation. I then asked if he could print that cancellation for me which he gladly did. I then asked if there were ANY available rooms, only for him to tell us that they were completely booked and there was nothing they could do. We were coming from Massachusetts! I then did a search around the idea to check to see if there were any available rooms anywhere only to find out that there IN FACT WERE AVAILABLE ROOMS! My wife then went back into the hotel lobby to speak with a different associate. She told us that they have nothing to do with the initial booking (the room that was randomly cancelled) and that since it was through a travel agent and cancelled, that transaction no longer existed. So then told us we would have to book another room which we would and did have to pay out of pocket for. My wife then asked why we weren't offered any of those available rooms and why Dillon told us everything is booked. She gave us some runaround answer saying the block those off for maintenance. They knew were desperate for a room, but withheld that information from us? Why weren't we offered a room on the spot? We proceeded with the online booking and told us our room would be ready in about 30 minutes, but it would be a handicap accessible room on the first floor. She then told us we would have to check OUT of that room the following morning and check into another. This was going to not only ruin our first night of planned events, but would make it impossible to make it to our event the next morning since we would have to check out and check in again! None of these room were going to be the one we originally booked either! We wanted a a king bed with a Mountain View. At this point what else could we do? We were in town for one of the busiest times in Albuquerque New Mexico. We go back in, The female associate recognized us and proceeded with the check in process. She did apologize, and made a comment that there had been a lot of mixups during the Balloon Fiesta Festival. Sounds like they were admitting to us that they were in the wrong. But still... unhelpful until they took our money which has NOT been refunded to us yet. She then told us that "she had some good news..." our original room that we booked was now magically available. The king bed with the Mountain View. So all that time wasted made us miss out on all our events for the first night that we arrived. It turned into a 3hour process... The hotel staff were the most unhelpful until my wife had to pay out of pocket for a room we had already paid for. None of it made any sense, and after a long day of travel this was the last thing we wanted to deal with. When we checked into that room, we immediately were impressed by the art work on the walls. The comforter had a stain on it which we asked to be replaced. Took about a day for the request to be fulfilled after numerous visits to the front desk. We went out to lunch to find a new comforter on our bed... but it was just thrown on the bed, oh and it was a twin size for a king bed. The staff also left the stained comforter in the room along with the wet towels we had asked to be replaced. Hotel made us feel like WE were in the wrong for cancellation. We checked out October 10, 2022. Mentioning this because we found that the hotel WAS STILL CHARGING OUR CREDIT CARD AN ADDITIONAL $1000+ as if we were staying in a room! The latest charge came on October 17, 2022. Oh and my CC had fraudulent activity on the account at the conclusion of this trip. Something sketchy going on there! Beware! All in all, it is a nice hotel if you're planning to spend zero to minimal time at the place.

Yelp
This is very much a family friendly hotel. The character of the hotel is a lot of fun and our kids enjoyed staying in the family suite where they each had their own teepee! The pool was full of kids having a blast, and the on site restaurant and bar was a nice added touch. Yes, the rooms could use a little more updating but it looks like as though they are working on it. We very much enjoyed our stay!

Yelp
Always like to stay here when I am in New Mexico unfortunately on this visit they told me there was now a hidden resort fee which is ridiculous this is not a resort won't stay here again.

Patricia J.

Yelp
Hotel ambience was not what is posted. The lightning in the lobby was dark. We entered our room and did not have any chairs to sit and relax. Asked for chairs and we were given two chairs from a locked up room. Dusty and dirty, so disappointed. Noise from the highway was loud racing cars all night. We were not impressed at all. We didn't even have a phone in our room. Just checked out and we were charged $43 for amenity fees for two beverages a night, but we were never told we would get these at time of check in. Now that we are checking, we find out that we could have had two beverages per night that we were going to be charged for anyway.

Yelp
This place is an absolute dump! Recently stayed here and it was one of the nastiest hotel experiences I've ever had, the hotel is run down with an elevator that works intermittently and a staff that is rude and uncaring, walls are paper thin so forget about getting any rest, plumbing is noisy and unreliable, hotel and rooms are unclean and musky, additional fees that are not communicated until you are checking out. No phone in the room so forget about wake up calls. This place is disgusting! Be sure you are up on all you vaccinations before staying here lord knows what you might contract.

Yelp
1*service! Rundown rooms We had a horrible experience and now filing complaints for refund. We paid $289/night for such a low quality stay. Hotel is rundown, rooms are small and old. Personal is rude: they allow themselves to wake you up by banging the door every 10mins starting an hour before your check-in time (and it is done by a manager himself). Also they do not let you use amenities even though you pay $20 amenities fee. In addition, the back gate of the parking was closed and we where not able to exit with the huge trailer. We were parked there by a night shift specifically so we could exit, but day shift said that no one at the hotel has a key from the parking back gate. The worst experience, especially for such a high priced hotel. Should be closed, license revoked, personal fired! Shame to this hotel management and the Heritage Hotels&Resorts!

Yelp
I have been here multiple times but in 2021 this was my review. I have been here 2 more times and it gets worse every time. Nothing has changed in 22 years. They even play the same native dance in the background. Rooms are dated. The hot water didn't work. Not my best stay here. Response from the owner 2 years ago 2021 "We are sorry that your experience with us was not five-star, Brandon. We do appreciate your feedback as it will help us grow and be the best we can be. We will work with our team to make updates and ensure that the hot water works in all rooms. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future and giving us another chance to impress you." Update*** 5/19/2023*** We came back to stay again. 2 years ago I said nothing changed and it hasn't. They did stop the native dancing on the screen. Not to go into too much detail but we had to change rooms 3 times when we checked in because they kept giving us a double room instead of the king that was requested. When we got the king room we stayed in the "upgraded" middle school painted, nightmare fuel room. There are spray painted clouds with angry faces, some weird deer that looks like it is humping a wolf and a miss mismatch of spray paint on the ceiling. It is super creepy and (sorry middle school kids that painted it) it is ugly. You know how when your kid brings you a painting from school and your first reaction is OMG, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?! Well imagine having that all over your room. The refrigerator was rattling all night with no way to fix it, the shower drain was clogged and the sink leaks at the faucet. This hotel has done more painting on the outside and made the curb appeal very nice but inside they have done nothing. It is dark, the carpet doesn't look like it has been refreshed in 20 years. There was SPIT dripping on the inside door of the elevator. The down button for the Elevator doesn't light up on the 4th floor. I like this hotel because it is near my family. But it is not fancy, and about 1 step away from being a low end motel 6. It is disappointing because the rooms used to be nice, with great towels, nice heavy duvets, and well staffed. I spent 10 minutes ringing the front desk with no answer because there was only 1 person at the front desk. The owners should have to stay here and see how far the quality has fallen. Update ***9/4/2023*** Unbelievable! This is my third attempt at giving this hotel a chance, and it's been nothing short of disappointing. They used to charge over $200 per night, but now it's less than $100, yet they sneak in a hidden amenities charge after check-in, which is simply outrageous. Instead of addressing numerous issues, they seem to be cutting corners to make up for lost revenue. Here's a list of the ongoing problems: - No phones in rooms - No microwaves - Towels are sandpaper - Limited outlets - Inadequate lighting - Blocked mountain views - Dysfunctional hot tub jets - Subpar room cleaning - Dirty, stained chairs in rooms - Broken AC - Clogged drains - Filthy old carpet - Ineffective maintenance - Unavailable manager on weekends. My recent stay was a nightmare. They initially put us in the wrong room, and we changed 5 times due to issues like a sink that wouldn't drain and non-working AC. The sixth had problems too. Moving rooms at 2 am with a five-month-old baby was beyond frustrating. It's astonishing how six rooms can have such severe issues. They skipped cleaning our room on Sunday and offered pool towels when I asked for fresh ones. Spit stains on the elevator doors, outdated rooms, and indifferent staff are the norm. Their "$20.00" amenities fee is a joke, with terrible beer, water, and sams club granola bars, yet they charge $108 per night for this terrible experience. It's high time for new management to address these ongoing problems. This place desperately needs a complete overhaul including management. The elevator still has that spit stain from 3 months ago. That DVD of Robert Mirabal: Music from a painted cave, was released in 2001. That video has been playing since you opened. Just like everything else here, it needs to be replaced and refreshed. Management feel free to contact me.

Yelp
Stopped and splurged for the night with a Mountain View and a complimentary cocktail. Hotel is a bit outdated but comfortable. Room was clean, provided water bottles and coffee along with a fridge. No modern plug bank for electronics. Pool area was busy but very family friendly and open until 10! Bed was soft and inviting and water pressure in the shower made me never want to get out. With COVID restrictions lifting there is hope that this will return to its former glory.

Yelp
Being honest here, it's not the Ritz...wasn't ever intended to be I live minutes from Nativo and drive by almost daily, my daughter had a small event here years ago and I decided since i needed a place to stay for a work week, I would give Nativo a try. Glad i did, comfy beds and a nice overall room at a good price for the week, working overnight so I'd sleep during the day, place was quiet. I didn't get to use any of the amenities the hotel provided, definitely wanted a drink at the bar but their not pouring drinks during breakfast hours. Some of the Yelp reviews are pretty critical and Nativo sure could use some remodeling to achieve their standards , But an overall nice stay i had, especially if the price you pay is a good value to you

Yelp
The staff was super friendly and helpful but I just can't give them a shining review. The place is dated and needs upgrades. I stayed here for 4 days. The first night we were promised a quiet room because we have a child. Well, their were people in the pool after it closed. Major rage mood. Took awhile for the people to get out. The second day we asked if we could move to two rooms instead of one. Our request was granted (for free might I add) but, we were checked out a day early for one room and couldn't get back into the room until I went down to the front desk. The restaurant is no longer there. They do have cool artisanal rooms and a pool. I'd stay here again, I'd just not expect the ritz.

Carrillo C.

Yelp
We were very impressed. Emily at the front desk absolutely amazing. The pool is wonderful half indoors half outdoors you can check in 24/7 and check out is not until noon that is unheard of anymore beautiful hotel.

Yelp
Staying at this hotel is a lot like watching an episode of Survivor. You think: "Wow, this seems like it was cool ten years ago, but now it's kind of depressing." Speaking of Survivor, you'll feel like you're a participant on the show as you try to endure muggy conditions (compliments of a barely working a/c), crawling bugs, and weird smells. The decor is more dated than what you'd see at your weird great aunt's double wide. The furnishing are falling apart (literally), and you and your family will have endless fun playing "guess that stain." As a lucky guest paying over $100 a night, you'll get: - Sketchy people loitering in the parking lot - Empty toiletry bottles for the shower (better bring your own!) - Stained, dented, or downright questionable furnishings - Art you could buy at the local gas station - Carpet literally peeling up from the floor - The vague smell of mold and poor life choices - Beds that don't fit the box spring and itchy sheets - A vaguely depressing bar with a bartender that seems unsure of what they're actually serving - Regret. Save your money and just stay at a chain.

Susan S.

Yelp
I do not recommend you stay here. First of all, they charge you an extra $20.00 upon check-in for what they call extras such as water and lousy treats in your room and internet! ext the bathroom sink was dirty and the the bathroom was so small, you have to shut the door to even get to the toilet. Everything in the room is old and dated. I don't think anyone ever used an old toothbrush to clean the drains. There is no phone in the room in case of an emergency or wake up call. And there's no clock so you never know what time it is without getting up to check the time. Lastly, they allow pets for an extra fee of $35.00 but have no grassy area for them. The only good thing was the food and service in their restaurant. Their chef is excellent. I recommended you stay somewhere else that is cleaner, doesn't have a surcharge or charge for pets and eat at the Nativo.

Yelp
I love the hotel!!! Megan was really nice and awesome. My family love the room so much, we stayed in " Winds Of Change" By Jay Smiley. I was looking for a new experience and this hotel was really magical. Thank you so much Megan for everything.

Yelp
This place is a dump now. My husband and I booked Rhett's artist room which was nice, until we got to the room and discovered it hadn't been turned over in time for our arrival. We figured it was a mistake and asked for another room since they were short staffed and and couldn't clean the room same day. The second room was disgusting! There were dead baby roaches in the corner guy at the desk said that's a good sign if they're dead, but couldn't really do anything about it. Gross! I still feel creeped out about it.

Yelp
Staff is OUTSTANDING! Housekeeping was questionable at best. Reservations was bad. Hotel has seen better days for sure. I would give the front desk staff a solid 5 stars! Unfortunately, that is where the good part ends. They lost one of my reservations, but we worked through that (I had to change my reservations anyway for personal reasons). Rented the presidential suite. When we arrived there was something sticky on the end table next to the couch. On one of the night stands there was something sticky, a popsicle stick and a fake eyelash. There was also a white substance streaking along the side of the bed frame. House keeping also forgot to stock towels and Kleenex in the room. Did I mention this was all in the presidential suite?!? Again, I want to point out that the staff was nice and corrected the issues, but this is not what I expect when renting the best room in the hotel.

Yelp
It was an ok place to stay. Definitely not our favorite for a few reasons but overall, we still had fun here and had great service. Firstly, the price. I believe my husband said he paid over 300$ for the 2 nights stay. I think most of its value comes from the tourist aspect of the place and how the place is decorated and what not. It basically had a lot of Native American style to it in a very elegant, classy way. And their pool looked really cool from the pictures, but when u get there, it wasnt all that great. Small even. We spent maybe 30 mins tops in the pool cuz therr was just too many kids going crazy that weekend. Secondly, and most importantly... the bar lol. It closes by 10. Womp womp. The bar is way more fun after 10!! Ughhh excellent bartender we had at least. He was a one man band too but the bar was pretty small overall. When we first got there, our suite was originally on the 3rd floor i think. And of course, it was the one room that had the curtain too short to fully cover their wall heighth windows. So we asked to change it which they happily did.... to the 1st floor and it was a regular room instead of a suite. My husband didnt care to complain anymore, even though we were basically being ripped off a bit. Overall, definitely not worth the money spent here. Oh well, it was my bday weekend and i still had a great time with the early last call for alcohol.

Yelp
This hotel is great! So unique. Front staff were all so friendly and helpful. Emily went above and beyond when we checked in, she even found us before her shift ended to let us know we had a round of drinks at the front desk for my friend's bday. Speaking of, really nice touch that they offer you a local beer or wine at check-in, including N/A options. The pool was great, and a bunch of places within walking distance or a short Uber. Will def book here again when traveling through, thanks!

Yelp
Me and my wife went there this weekend and it was magical. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was quiet and enjoyable. We received a complimentary bottle of wine for our anniversary getaway. The room was large, beautifully decorated and painted. There was a microwave, TV and coffee maker, which was ideal because my wife is a coffee lover. The attention to details and friendly service made for the best hotel experience I've ever had!

Yelp
Very nice front desk workers, but overall disappointing stay. The rooms are much more run down than the pictures show and the walls are thin plus with doors for adjoining rooms we could hear everything around us. (We didn't request an adjoining room and they had no other options.) The listing said free breakfast, but now they don't do it anymore, you can buy a burrito from them instead. The pool said heated, but it was ice cold. Pet friendly hotel, but people left their dogs alone and they barked non stop and hotel refused to call the owners. Overpriced for the condition.

Yelp
It could be a really very Hotel. It needs updating and new carpet. The bed was comfortable and my husband said he enjoyed the shower. I like the big bottles of shampoo ,Conditioner and body wash in-the shower. It's nice to have a bar inside the hotel. We didn't enjoy drinks because we had colds. Darn. It would be nice to have a restaurant. Most hotels in the area have breakfasts included in their prices. Price is a little high but if it gets updated it will be worth the extra price. We would give this hotel another chance. Oh there was an indoor/outdoor pool. It looked fun.

Yelp
The hotel itself was very interesting with a cool decor. Room was clean, but a little outdated. The staff? They were amazing! Exceptional customer service with every encounter. Alfie checked us in, and wonderful. Later, we were down in the lobby and had a question. He was dealing with a customer who was being somewhat difficult (booked through a 3rd part app and had booking issues), but handled them with patience and grace. Colton went out of his way to make our stay great too. We would absolutely stay here again if we were passing through.

Yelp
Nativo Lodge was very convenient for a girls trip. Located just off highway and easily accessible to surrounding areas. Pros: front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. They tried really hard to ensure needs were met and always greeted when walking in. The decor in lobby was very nice. Coffee tea oatmeal muffins in lobby. Did not use pool or hot tub but they looked ok. Teepee in back was a nice setup. We had artist rooms both stays which was ok, but a lot going on second stay. Walls were covered with everything from footprints to aliens in bathroom. Cons: room not as cleaned as we would have liked. Found old water bottle from previous guest behind night stand. Dog hair on carpet and large cockroach in bathroom. We had to change rooms second stay due to AC not working properly. Phone present in room but missing buttons no dial tone. ( told this is being updated) Elevator and rooms could use dome updating. Carpets in rooms could use a good shampoo, even better to just remove. If rooms updated snd cleaned would make stay more pleasant.

Yelp
Keep in mind. I NEVER write bad reviews. Establishments earn them from me. 1st. This place is in a complete garbage location perfect for getting robbed and solicited illegal services. 2nd the shower was not working in the room and we were not given any other options than to just wait for it to start working?? Really? Lol 3rd this place advertised as 96.00 online a working advantage site I use. when I wasn't able to book it online I accepted my loss on my usual savings method and called in to the Notivio lodge, I was transferred to a booking rep with the woman of last name of Jiron, she wasn't able to match the price which I knew she wouldn't but was able to sell me on a room for 110.00 plus taxes. While she is almost done selling me on the room she adds in a 36.00 admin fee. I wasn't too pleased but none the less I needed the room and I know it's common practice so I accepted my defeat in search for saving money and purchased the room. How sweet how hotels advertise a room to get attention then add in fees on top to make sure they get that big number they need in order to operate. A day goes by and now I see another charge on my card racking the total up to 196.00.. yes a whole 100.00 more than what I originally saw it advertised. When I call in they told me that it's just a hold until you check out and will be put back on the card in a few days.. these types of operations love to play hostage with peoples money. When I called in to ask about a discount for the shower and the inconveniences I was placed on hold back to back between multiple reps probably hoping I would just hang up and the problem would go away.. WRONG. Eventually I told them if they want to make things right then they can call me and I'd be more than happy to work something out. It's been 2 weeks and nobody has called me back. This place doesn't accept responsibility and doesn't give a rats behind about their guests. The businesses model may care about guests yes but the actual employees do not I mean what do you expect when you live in Albuquerque? I'd be miserable too! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE NOT EVEN MY WORST ENEMY. For the rest of my life on earth I will let everyone I know to NEVER STAY AT NOTIVO LODGE. you are better off at the motel 6 I'm not even playing. Business model maybe has good intentions but like I said these employees are only human and they like myself when I'm at work just want to go home so I don't blame them personally. But management? Purposely putting people on Hold in hopes that your problems just go away? Telling guests that you will call them back to work this out but never actually calling? Is courage the cowardly dog running this place or? This place is a walking L. 0/0 I'd never ever stay here again.

Yelp
Serious cons, some pros. We were going to ABQ to celebrate my 3 yr old twins birthday. We found an adorable artist room suite that had a bedroom with 2 mini teepees. Perfect! Our group booked 2 rooms separately. Despite having booked the suite weeks in advance on Navito's website, they called us the day of the reservation, while enroute and told us that room was no longer available. That room was absolutely the only reason for booking at this hotel, considering its higher cost and lack of frills. First they said that room had a maintenance problem, later said there was another guest in it. Shady. They offered us another artist room (just a double bed, not a suite). And would refund the difference, giving us a discounted price (it was still not as cheap as the other similar room booked via 3rd party). That sucks, but the second room was non refundable, had to suck it up. The front desk people were very nice, and made it difficult to argue with them regarding their major screw up. Restaurant has been abandoned, but the bar and bartender were lovely (though did not keep bar open as long as we were buying, as promised). Texting service to front desk that we were told was monitored 24/7, didn't get a response till 5 hrs later. No signage anywhere, really had to search for the ice machine and stairs. The pool was cool, but the hot tub looked suspiciously piss filled. There's only one elevator, kids were going crazy in the common areas, literally throwing pizza everywhere (where it still remained when we checked out the next day). Kids were also throwing things at people from their room balconies. While the artistry of the room was awesome, the room itself was slightly run down. Had a standard Motel 6 feel. Really wanted to love the Navito... REALLY wanted that teepee room. Disappointing.

Yelp
This is my second time staying here. My experience here was just as bad as the first. Shower drain clogged. Sink was semi clogged. Every time you flushed the toilet a big bubble came out. It was as if the toilet was backed up. Dirt streaks on the bed. The worse part was this bug in the bathroom, I believe it fell from the bathroom ceiling fan.

Yelp
Most of the other reviews are accurate about the friendly staff but depressing atmosphere. My "junior suite" is basically a large motel room but there is little that is "suite" about it. Everything seems old. The ac/heater is super noisy and combined with the noisy bathroom fan makes me feel like I am living in a manufacturing factory. For almost $190/night (Oct 2019), there is no fitness room (being remodeled), no free breakfast, and no working restaurant in the hotel. The TV resolution is terrible. The bed is okay but a little soft. Housekeeping is adequate at best. There are some positives - the lobby is good for meeting friends, the pool looks nice although I have not tried it, and the location next to Highway 25 is excellent. Lots of restaurants nearby. I would not stay here again. They took advantage of the balloon festival to high up rates (as all hotels do) but didn't make any improvements to make it worth the higher price.

Yelp
Here is the low down. Cheap hotel, with a lot of character. First off, someone mentioned they couldn't find the check-in desk. Just turn your head to the right and you'll find the counter. When you walk in, the elevator is located smack in the middle, I think because once you are checked in, you don't want to mess around the hotel, you'd rather just go straight to your room. I did use the workout room. Never made it to swimming in the pool. There is a fully functional bathroom, changing room and shower downstairs. Outside is a tee-pee to play around in. We never made it to the restaurant, just too many places to try in New Mexico. I so wanted to take advantage of happy hour. Within walking distance is Starbucks and Tacos Cabana. Across the street is a gas station. Next exit is the freeway. I actually liked having the freeway so close to us, traveling was a breeze. My only issue with the hotel, is I seemed to generate a lot of static electricity there. Ended up using a wash towel to protect myself from getting shocked. I think it might have just been me? But just a small issue, I tend to get shocked everywhere, just more here. I still feel like I'd come back here again because it is festive and a really great deal.

Yelp
First off, I have to give a HUGE shout out to Megan at the front desk. She was super helpful, kind, and an absolute WEALTH of knowledge about nearby events and local attractions. When we chose to stay in an artist room, Megan advised us to look over a few pictures to help is choose our best fit, as some of the painting can be... overwhelming. Wow! She was a GIFT! The hummingbird room is STUNNING! Huge intricate murals cover the walls- and, simply put, they take your breath away! But just walking into the hotel, you can feel the ancestors rise to greet you. The walls, floors, sculptures, artwork, and every surface of this hotel tell a story of the local culture in a wall that is authentic and real. The big, open, central area was home to families playing games, as well as couples sipping wine and mixed drinks from the bar. We absolutely LOVED this place! It truly needs to be exprienced!

Yelp
The front desk clerk was great, other than that this place is not worth the hassle, money or urgency. They allow sketchy ppl to loiter in the parking lot all night, the room itself was disgusting. No sanitation measures taken by the cleaning crew. Crumbs and old food from previous guests? Still sitting on the floor and under the bed. Bed covers? There were none, just a thin sheet separating the bed and 'blanket.' I used my own Lysol spray and Clorox wipes to wipe everything down and the wipes themselves were black after one wipe of the nightstand. If there was not a shortage in rooms in Albuquerque last night I most definitely would have left, no way to switch to a "cleaner" room bc the hotel itself was overbooked, according to the front desk. I've heard this place was decent and great for events but I suppose those suggestions were based off when the place was not outdated.

Yelp
I want to FIVE STAR the personnel. They are pleasant all the way. I have never been to a hotel fancy or flop house that their front desk was as accommodating, friendly and understanding. The grounds are beautiful, pool comfortable and the jacuzzi OMG wonderful. Improvement could come in house keeping. Our crew needed to up their efforts to match the front desk. My room key actually worked once in 3 days. Nothing like dragging butt all the way to the room and the door won't open. Bring slippers because the floors were dirty and dusty. Use a wet mop. I wiped some soda off the floor and the one white towel didn't LIE. How do you criticize when the front desk scurries down the hall EACH TIME? They happily even helped me get off the floor. Nail it! But 3 days ????? Sorry front desk, I can't give the 5. But you all deserve it!!
