The 'Wellness Capital of Texas' Was Just Named America’s Best Small Spa and Wellness Town

"Known for its old-school barbecue and the gigantic wooden rocking chair at the original Lipan location, the Mineral Wells outpost serves brisket, sausage, turkey, and smoked bologna with classic sides like barbecue beans, mac and cheese, and potato salad; I saved room for banana pudding, cobblers, fried pies, and ice cream cones and noticed a selection of cookbooks, mugs, jerky, homemade fudge, and jams for unique souvenirs — plus there’s still a photo-worthy large rocking chair outside." - Amanda Ogle Amanda Ogle Amanda Ogle is a writer and editor who specializes in travel, food and drink, sustainability, and general lifestyle topics. Came here on a whim during a quick stop in Mineral Wells. So glad I did! This is the cutest barbecue place I've ever been. Lots of seating and a specious store section. Loved the country music. I had a large chopped brisket sandwich with baked potato salad and banana pudding. Added sauce and some fixings. Food was soooo good! I especially loved that I had enough leftover to eat later for dinner. Service was also above and beyond. I look forward to returning on my next visit to town.

I found this place while traveling through Mineral Wells today. It's a cute little place but the food is just ok. I had the sliced brisket, mac and cheese, barbecued beans, and jalapeno cornbread. I ordered the brisket on the fatty side but didn't get it. It was more on the dry side and sorely lacking flavor. I shouldn't have to drown it in sauce to get it to taste like something. The mac and cheese was your typical box stuff and the jalapeno cornbread was also a little on the dry side, but pretty good flavor. The best part about the meal was the barbecue beans. Several of the other reviews mention friendly staff, but I didn't get that feeling while I was in there today. Brisket 4/10 Mac and cheese 5/10 Cornbread 7/10 BBQ beans 8/10

Cora was so awesome!! I have celiac and have reactions to gluten and this place has very very knowledgeable staff with wonderful customer service and made sure they cut fresh meat in case anything had cross contamination. Lots of options, separate menu and good food!! I have celiac and had no reaction at all. Will definitely stop next time we drive through!!

Fun place to eat and shop. Great brisket, and other smoked meats. I had the Carolina dog with Tater salad and a Dublin cola. The Carolina dog was a giant hot dog with Coleslaw, brisket and Carolina BBQ sauce on top (a mustardy vinegar sauce), it was delicious. Good selection of Dublin sodas. Fun old general store feel. The shops had things like candles, soaps, lotions, wood furniture, leather bags and cute knick knacks. This was the Lipan location, not Mineral Wells.

Love the food & come often. We showed up at 8:05 to eat (closes at 9) before going to the haunted house. They were cleaning which was is always a plus but someone turned the lights off to portray closed and we had to ask and then another lady just kept mopping front of us (literally at the register) while looking for what we wanted and it was just odd. Felt like a big inconvenience

We enjoyed the atmosphere and thought the food was pretty good. What I really liked with the bbq was the pickled green tomatoes. They are so good you can buy them by the gallon! Portions were a little smaller than expected.

Great food with awesome, attentive staffing that explain everything they got going. Inside area has jarred products, spices, candy in it.

First timer here, an it was good! Mac n cheese was creamy, banana pudding wasn't gritty, the loaded potatoe salad was a meal alone, the pulled pork sandwhich hit the spot, and the hotdogs are house made and absolutely delicious!! They offer a pickled bar and goodies as well. Will definitely be returning to try other menu options.
