When It Comes to Summer, Nothing Beats the Northeast

"After checking out, we drove north to Natural Stone Bridge & Caves, another family-run operation that claims to be the largest marble cave entrance in the Eastern United States and has a delightfully kitschy gift shop that carries enormous glittering geodes and Adirondacks coffee mugs that appear to be deadstock from the 1970s."

Awesome experience. We brought our toddlers here and it was such a fun experience for all of us. The mapped self guided tour was a blast. The girls awed over the views and we built great memories. The owners and staff were so friendly and their shops at the end were cool. We bought multiple quality souvenirs. These are items that you can display not just trinkets or toys but really nice items for the whole family. Our daughters even picked some cute bracelets made from stone “beads” and decorative turtles. We found some gifts from petrified wood to fossils. Really enjoyable.

Google
Great place! We did the self guided tour, and it's a pretty good hike with amazing views and really cool features. They tell you to stop at a certain number but we kept going and saw the whole thing. The gift shop is really nice and has lots of beautiful crystals and petrified wood.

We have visited twice. In summer, you can explore the stone bridge and caves. In winter, it is a great place for snow shoes. Beautiful scenery throughout.

My friends and I went snowshoeing on New Year's day and we had a blast! There are 14 miles of trails, you are provided with a map and the trails are very well marked. The views are amazing and you get a good work out! I'll definitely be back. Also nice to do in the summer time with the caves. You can book your tickets online prior to your visit $14.95 for a day pass. Snow shoe rental for $5. Totally recommend!

This is a pretty neat place to check out if you’re in the area. It’s good for kids. They have a little playground, a disc golf course, a little rock wall, and some other kid stuff to do. As for the bridge and caves, I thought it was neat but I was honestly expecting more. Everything you see in the pictures on Google is pretty much everything there is to see. I don’t necessarily feel like it was worth the time/money when you compare it to all the other cool things you can do nearby in the Adirondacks. So if you’re in the area and you have time and money to kill then I’d say you might as well check it out, but I wouldn’t go out of your way to come here. I’d also recommend that you go on a weekday, as the trail is short and narrow and gets filled up quickly with people on a Saturday. The gift shop is cool too.

Beautiful scenery. Relaxing environment. Took 7 kids ranging from 6 urs old to 15 years old and they all loved it. It is quite a walk so wear extra comfy shoes.

Google
Wonderful place to visit spent 1 1/2 hours on the Trail. Its been a little on the dry side so stream a little low, must be really interesting after a rain fall. Great gift shop. Displays of fossils and rocks interesting. Also had picnic area and small play ground for kids.

Google
We stopped here on our trip, it is right off of the highway so it's an easy and convenient place to stop. It is such a beautiful place to walk around and see the amazing rock formations and caves. I really enjoyed being able to go into some of the caves and to walk on the boulders and stone bridge. There were a lot of awesome views! We also really enjoyed the gift shop and rock shop! We popped a geode and found quite a few other souvenirs to take with us. This place was a lot of fun and I am so glad we decided to give it a try! I definitely recommend it!

Yelp
How can you be obsessed with the Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life, (like myself) and not visit Pottersville?! (Okay... a real diehard would've made the trek to Seneca Falls for their "Wonderful" fix.) Pop culture aside... this ended up being the perfect attraction/distraction/adventure/detour while staying in Lake George and the weather was a bit cooler and 'iffy' the one day. If you're down with hiking and geology - you probably won't find a better spot to hit than here. Once again Mother Nature is an artist like no other and being able to walk up and down and all around to see what's she's capable of... just unreal. The Mrs. was obsessed with the various gift shops. One kid had a blast doing the "Gem Mining" to find various stones and gems in his bag of soil. (We kept seeing something having to do with disc golf as we walked the trail but had zero clue what that was about.) Between the walking and gawking and the gift shop... we probably spent a good 2-3 hours here. (And I'd suggest to get their earlier because the place was filling up when we were leaving a bit before lunchtime.)

Yelp
Went up to Lake George for a long weekend with my family (husband and 2 kids) and we waited till we got there to look up some activities. This was middle of Sept. where a lot of places already closed for the season but we stumbled across a brochure at our hotel for Natural Stone Bridge and was able to reserve a time for the following day. We had a great time! It's about a 45 min - 1 hr long walk depending how fast you walk the trail and was very interesting. My kids are 6 and 8 and it was great for them. It was a little wet and at some point we all slipped a little but as long as you watched where you were going, it was fine. At the end of the trail, when you get back to the main office, they have other activities for kids to do. Geo mining, dinosaur bones, etc. The only downside is we thought we would be inside of more caves but it was fine nonetheless

Yelp
Very cool spot definitely have your cameras charged to be able to take photos. If you have little ones under the age of three and you will want to bring some thing you can hike with them in. I would not recommend this for anyone with health or mobility issues. We went when it was overcast and maybe a little bit chilly and that's probably the best weather to do something like this in - I could see this being miserable if it was a hot day.

Madeline S.

Yelp
Our family spent the day and enjoyed the fun, inexpensive, learning experience. We will go back.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
We went snowshoeing there. The cost was very reasonable and there are miles of trails. The renting and service is very organized and the owner is very kind. They had s'mores and hot cocoa at a bonfire at the end of our time. Very nice. Will go again.

Kevin R.

Yelp
Definitely worth the stop. We were traveling in the area and saw a sign to go there. What was once a family's back yard is now a tourist stop to see. Thankful they are willing to share the beauty of the area with us.

Yelp
Our family hit this place early on a weekday morning before it got busy or too hot. There are some really cool features here my kids loved, my wife and I as well. Places like this really make you appreciate nature and how great it is when preserved. Plus you get some exercise and fresh air. The price for a family of 4 was very reasonable. The staff was very friendly and engaging, we felt welcomed. Younger children or the elderly may struggle so plan accordingly. My sons are 7 and 10 and there where a few spots when they needed some assistance, nothing major though. Like most places, they also have a gift shop. My advice is make it an early morning activity and then go grab lunch at a nearby local spot.

Yelp
Only open LATE May - Oct and closed rest of the year. It's a an hour away from Lake Placid so not a bad drive.

Yelp
Just amazing .. very well maintained .. I initially thought of giving a 4 star but thought - why not 5 stars .. it has all .. superb natural caves , a very good hike , water, photographic scenery , caves etc .. it was so good to sit inside the cave and listen to urself .. the echo and the sound was mind boggling .. Make sure elders can walk through the path . I posted few pics where the hiking trail is not even . No chance for strolers or young kids to run .. talk to the front desk before u take elders or kids inside .. Tickets were nominal . They have a small cafe too , which helps . No phone signal , which also helps to focus on the trail and family :) kids can enjoy the rock climbing , and few other things :) Loved it overall . If u r around lake George area , do plan to visit this place .. nature at its best ..

Yelp
This is a must see! Well worth the trip. Beautiful views and amazing geologic structures easy to navigate because of the man-made wooden walkways. There is a small cave with rushing water you can go into but most of the tour is outside. We loved this place!
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Fun little hike, the kids loved the rock wall and mining for fossils and gems. Lovely ride from Inlet.

Tami M.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place and it was the highlight of our trip to Lake George! For some reason I wasn't expecting too much but I was completely blown away. It is beautiful and has so much packed into one little hike. We ended up spending 2 hours here on the self guided tour and looking through the gift shops. The pictures don't even do it justice!

Yelp
This is fun for all ages. Open for COVID: 20 spot outdoor trail designed to give you the best sight of the River and caves. 1-1.5 hours depending on your pace and if you skip stops. Easy to skip some as they're in and out off the circular trail that stops and ends at the gift shop. Not open for COVID: The "big" tour. 4 hours trekking thru the caves. Bummed couldn't do it but there's other things to do in the area. Zip lines and Lake Placid are close by. Lake George and Saranac Lake. Can drive to Canada , while it's open to USA (provided it isn't closed down again for COVID. Great gift shop. Don't usually write up the gift shop. This has a lot of unusual items. Tons of gemstones, fossils, geodes, carved stones along with the usual fair. From $2 to $2,000.

Yelp
Beautiful scenery, well-maintained trails. Wear sensible shoes!! We couldn't figure out how the frisbee golf was set up, but otherwise we had a blast. Very nice lapidary (rock & mineral) shop, nice specimens. Hike the whole trail for the best views. When you're done, the soft-serve ice cream place down the road has tons of flavors, we enjoyed that!
google avatar

Jody M.

Yelp
They have more flavors of soft serve ice cream than anyone around. A true icon of this area.

Yelp
A beautiful & probably overlooked, underrated attraction about a 35 minute drive north of Lake George. The paths are more rugged & not as defined compared to those you would find at the Flume Gorge in New Hampshire, and the trails are certainly more narrow in some areas, too. Be sure to take a walking stick when you start out (they are available by the Silas Miner's shed). There are some great hidden caves and the scenery is probably best in Fall. They also have a gift shop & a place where kids can do their own "gemstone mining" for an additional fee. It was worth the drive from the Warren County/Lake George area.
google avatar

Samuel L.

Yelp
Totally amazing. Great Hike too. The views are fantastic of the river, bridge and cave. They really mapped out a nice path to get you from start to finish. When you're done stick around for what looks to be the premier frisbee golf course around@
google avatar

Kimmy T.

Yelp
Great snowshoeing experience here. The trail markers are clear, didn't get lost, and well maintained. Greg was great at introducing us to the sport and also the trail.

Yelp
I truly enjoyed my visit to Natural Stone Bridge and Caves. It is a perfect place to take a family hike, particularly if said family are not experienced hikers. I have seen some complain that this facility lacks the unobstructed views and experience that most of the local trails provide. Well, duh, this is not a mountain trail in the woods, it's a privately owned exhibit, and has safety and liability issues to be concerned with. As such, I think they've done a pretty remarkable job making this trail accessible to individuals of nearly any experience level while simultaneously making the trail feel like part of the landscape. Now while I have mentioned that the trail is designed for hikers of nearly any level, it is still a trail, so use your common sense. If you have mobility issues, you're not going to be able to complete this trail. No, you cannot bring a stroller. If you're able bodied, dress appropriately, particularly regarding footwear, and grab a complimentary hiking stick before you set out, you'll be good. My three year old was able to complete the circuit fairly independently, and only needed to be picked up for a few of the steeper steps. One more note regarding the caves: yes you can see the openings of two caves, but your are NOT spelunking on this tour. They do offer an actual cave exploration tour by reservation that looks both very cool and rather extreme. Maybe when the kids are older. If you're looking for a nice, easy, and fairly quick hike that showcases some of the beauty of the Adirondacks, this is your place. They even have a nice little gift shop with a decent collection of rocks and minerals and a rudimentary snack bar. Well worth the thirty minute drive up from Lake George.

Yelp
Rude, Rude, Rude!!! We drove an hour and 30 min to get here from our hotel. Once we arrived we found the tickets were booked for 2 hours... fine, not great but it happens. We went to the restroom and on my way back I saw a beautiful waterfall over a hill so I walked over to the observation area. Shortly after there was older worker frantically running toward me (and another guest who was doing the same) and was yelling don't You have tickets? Get our of there. Much to my confusion I had no idea that was part of the ticketed area. She rudely goes "seriously, didn't you see the green boxes?" The green boxes ONLY had facts about the area on them by the way. Heck, there are fact boxes like that at a free pack where I'm from... Keep in mind there was NO signs saying ticketed area or a person standing there and monitoring or anything indicating that this was a ticketed area. Again.. it's dumb but sure I get it but the lady didn't have to be so rude and snippy with me. I was just captivated by nature and didn't see anything that said don't go there. By the way. There were also picnic tables in that area so I figured that was just somewhere to hang out and relax and enjoy nature. In my experience, when you go to a cavern, the only thing that needs a ticket is the actual cavern, NOT THE NATURE or TRAIL. I get paying for the cavern for upkeep and such but the trail?!?! And that lookout/picnic area SHOULD NOT be part of the trail. There are very few places to sit while waiting outside of the area. She even told us we would have to buy a ticket and wait in the parking lot (for 2 hours... really.....). I also don't think the website said that tickets sell out. It's a freeking trail people.....I get caverns have boundaries, and that should be separate or something. I would have gladly paid to go on the trail THAT WASN'T packed or congested, but it was "full." What a joke..... I DO NOT write negative reviews, or many reviews in general but this rubbed me the wrong way and I felt attacked the lady spoke to me. Almost challenging my intelligence. The trail may be worth it but I DO NOT recommend due to how I was treated. The other person that was also yelled at felt the same way btw. IT GETS BETTER.......... As I was writing this, my little sister was in the gift shop and bought one of the sand mining kits, but guess what... they wouldn't let her do the mining without a trail ticket.... Really?!?!?! You can sell that separate???? Also this place is NOT dog friendly. You can't even have a dog anywhere on the property for some reason....

Yelp
This is an Adirondack Natural Wonder (family owned I believe) and the only cave attraction in the Adirondacks. A family friendly environment. Price is reasonable and you can't beat free parking. Restrooms were decent. I was pleasantly surprised. I can't say enough good things about it. It's a total gem. They had little basket receptacles hung here and there for trash, which is perfect for leaving no trace. I spent at least 3hrs, taking my time to enjoy the views. I had timed tickets on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded. Most everyone was wearing a mask due to the Covid19. My only warning is that some of the posts are not secured in some areas. Before you lean on anything take time to make sure it's secure. They should have warning signs posted.

Yelp
This is a review for winter at the Stone Bridge Caves. I was there for the 15K Extreme Snowshoe race, and got to see many of the trails that are in the trail network here, and they are fantastic! There are some groomed (which some of the race was ran on), and some not (single track), and several that I passed that weren't broken in yet (but weren't closed). The was no debris fallen, and they were well maintained. The owners will tell you what trails are groomed versus single track, depending on what level of snowshoeing you were looking to do. The "lodge" is where you can rent snowshoes, borrow a pair of boots (how cool is that!?!), and purchase gift shop items. The items for sale are absolutely adorable. There are sweatshirts, and jackets that have the Stone Bridge emblem, as well as home items for coffee tables, walls, and snacks for purchase among other things. I purchased a few trinkets and these local maple syrup candies and which I had bought more.

Yelp
A decent place with side activities that rock for kids. I think the main trail is a bit weak due to all the fencing and gating. It makes it feel too controlled though I can understand why. It takes away the natural feel. There are some awesome sounding options. They have winter snow shoe trails and a cave exploration. Apparently the cave requires a reservation made in advance by a few days. $85.00 per person. This seems like a serious cave exploration as I saw some people with full orange exploration suits, gloves, and helmets come out of a roped off cave. I wish the base experience felt less manufactored though. Safety and liability are most likely the culprit, but it still feels worse than the usual trail. In short: go here for special stuff with reservations. For the basic hike if you're okay with a very easy touristic "trail" and skip if you want a more natural trail.

Lily C.

Yelp
I have brought many of my friends and family here, everyone loves it! The adirondack mountains, stones, and caves never disappoint. The staff is always friendly and the gift shop has many rocks and crystals that you just cant find anywhere else. The gift shop also has good prices compared to other crystal/rock places. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Stefanie D.

Yelp
We took a day trip from Lake George to this place. Driving there just follow the yellow signs. The caves are at the end of the road. It's a great place for simple hiking. Perfect for kids and adults but definitely not for strollers or adults with mobility issues. It can be slippery at times so watch your footing. The gift shop with all the crystals and geodes are a crystal lovers paradise. I sooo wanted to take home the amethyst cathedral geodes but $$$. Overall it's a great place for a day out with the family. The views are great, the WiFi is weak so plenty of time to spend with the family without distractions.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty cool place to visit and you cam bring the entire family. Make sure to bring sneakers ans wheee comfy clothes as your will have to step high, it is a bit rocky but its a fun place ro go if u love the outdoors..NY is just not about the city
google avatar

Yelp
Great as always! East close drive from Lake George--nicely maintained trails and lovely, different gift shop. You get to explore caves and rushing water safely. We went here when the kids were little and again this year and we all were entertained both times! Nice snack shop. Masks required on check in (make reservations to ensure that slots don't fill up) and you can take them off on the trail. Reasonably priced. GO go go.

Yelp
This is fun for all ages. I have came to this place 3 different times. Like I would recommend this to everyone as every time I go to lake george I always visit this place. 20 spot outdoor trail designed to give you the best sight of the River and caves. Great gift shop. This has a lot of unusual items. Tons of gemstones, fossils, geodes, carved stones. There are some really cool features here my family loves this place. Places like this really make you appreciate nature and how great it is when preserved. Plus you get some exercise and fresh air. The staff was very friendly and engaging, we felt welcomed. It is beautiful and has so much packed into one little hike. We ended up spending 2 hours here on the self guided tour and looking through the gift shops. The pictures don't even do it justice! Wow!!! That's all I can say! Is wow!!! When we walked in we were greeted with a friendly hello and smiles. A family friendly environment. Price is reasonable and you can't beat free parking. Restrooms were decent. It's a total gem. They had little basket receptacles hung here and there for trash, which is perfect for leaving no trace. Such a fun and great afternoon hike in a majestic setting. The people on the trail were awesome. Thank you for the history and guided tour back. It was a great afternoon. The staff are so friendly and organized. The trails appear to accommodate beginners as well as advance adventure seekers.

Yelp
Oh my. Such a fun and great afternoon hike in a majestic setting. Sorry I did not get names but after a great greeting at the desk in a COVID minded environment... I'm a First Responder so these things are important, I entered the trail with a tad of trepidation as I have two knee replacements. Left the family at home for this trip. The people on the trail were awesome -- random strangers and then I happen chance on my way back met the grand daughter of the property. Thank you for the history and guided tour back. I will bring my family the next trip and highly recommend. I have the best pictures and if my son can help me get them from my phone to the computer I will send. It was a great afternoon. And I'm rockin today. Knees did just fine.

Yelp
As a geologist, lover of caves, and amateur rock collector - I knew I had to come here while in the Adirondacks. This place is very old fashioned and family-friendly. You can tell not much has changed in years, and that's just fine. My parents loved the throwback feel. There's a self-guided walking tour around the property that leads to great views of the water and caves, along with a rock shop, gift shop, picnic-style food area and a few little exhibits. We took the trail around the water and enjoyed the views... the cave wasn't as expected (not a cavern that you can walk into), but it was still really cool. We also got lunch and checked out the rock shop. I loved their petrified wood samples! But didn't purchase anything, as prices were marked up a couple hundred percent over what you would pay wholesale in Arizona. Still, great collection. I would come here again. It's a cool place for kids to learn about geology and spend an outdoorsy, fun and educational afternoon.
google avatar

Davey J.

Yelp
Folks here are so polite and knowledgeable, when talking to my son they came to his level and were able to answer every question. Rock store was so cool and you can have your own rock cut that you pick out and my son loved it. Prices are fair and when comparing to larger places similar they are perfect.
google avatar

Todd J.

Yelp
We visit every year. Masks to check in and then mask free for the hike. Many new improvements to the trail. It's an hour of time worth visiting.

Lori R.

Yelp
it was a great experience--particularly if you want to see some caves but you don't want to explore in them. The trails were very well kept and safe.
google avatar

Francois B.

Yelp
Nice walk beside falls among impressive natural rocks. You can go down some caves to look at the river which disappears underground. Beautiful scenery. Worth visiting in family. One impressive part was the petrified wood, a must see.
google avatar

Yelp
So much beauty to be seen! Went With my kids who are four and five my 25-year-old cousin and my 55-year-old aunt. It was a great hike with plenty to see. Even though it's not very challenging My aunt slipped and broke her ankle. The owner came to meet us and help her out from our location. Both him and his wife were super nice and helpful. We were able to sit and chat with them for a while and got a little history of the property. This is a definite must see if you're in the area!

Yelp
One of my favorite parts from my vacation to Lake George. Only about 30 minutes away from the village. It wasn't busy at all when we went in early June, so we didn't encounter many people. It was an hour long walk through the rock formations and several small caves. Even if you don't buy anything, lots of cool geodes and fossils to look at in their shop.

K M.

Yelp
We had a fabulous time snowshoeing at Natural Stone Bridges and Caves. The owners are so friendly and organized. It was a great introduction to snowshoeing for our family. We had two adults and 4 teenagers in tow. The trails appear to accommodate beginners as well as advance adventure seekers.

Yelp
Myself and my 6 year old have season passes this year, it pays for itself in two visits. There is no one aspect to the park that is amazing, but all the smaller pieces add up to a fun experience. We've never taken the more advanced tour, but the posted walk around the property takes a little over an hour. You will get a nice view of the river from both sides, the main cave is the largest cave entrance in the east, nothing too impressive on the inside, this is not like the typical limestone caves like you will find elsewhere, they are generally pretty small and while interesting, are not overly dramatic or pretty. You spend a few minutes at each site, then move on. Over the course of the tour you get to see a variety of features with some informational signs around them. It's just enough for my kids, who asked to go back days after being there. But that's not all, they have a very respectable rock and gift shop. You can find some cool things for under 5 dollars, or you could spend thousands on a top quality rock or fossil. They have a wide variety of offerings for both a serious collector, or a curious beginner. On site they have a panning sluice, where you can buy a bag of sand with gems or fossils in it and run it through the water to see what you get. They also have two "mines" where the little ones can dress up and a miner and collect some samples they can keep. For physical activity, there is a climbing wall and disc golf course. We typically end a visit by feeding the fish in a pond near the entrance.
google avatar

Mincie C.

Yelp
This was like going to a "rent a center..." because you are paying three times the cost of what the product is actually worth. The location was outdated, not well cared for and down right cheesy. We have been to various State parks, all cheaper and better. I would not recommend this attraction.
google avatar

Bryan W.

Yelp
My wife had been here many years ago and always told me she had to bring me here someday and how awesome it is. So this weekend we made a point of stopping here on our way back home from Ticonderoga. You start and end in the gift shop full of touristy knick knacks. The cost was $14/adult. I'm not sure what that covers other than to pay for the employees running the store since nature provides the rest and much of that is roped off and you have to pay more ($91/person) by reservation for tours into the Caves. Unfortunately this is a particularly dry Summer in this area and the river that would normally provide much of the scenic beauty of waterfalls was all but dried up and there was only a tiny stream in one part and the rest was dry. The trails are very short and it doesn't take very long to see everything they allow you to see on the normal self guided tour. You only get to go in one very short narrow cave on your own with an overabundance of colored light unless you pay a lot more to take guided tours into the real caves. There is also an overabundance of commercial geology that has nothing to do with this location other than to increase profits.....such as an entire shop and displays of geodes from Mexico and Brazil that is fun for kids and expensive for their parents but has nothing to do with the local geology! Overall I was pretty disappointed that this otherwise cool location has been so over-commercialized and restricted that it seriously detracts from the natural beauty that you'd enjoy much more if it was a State or National Park. My wife's nostalgia didn't live up to the current reality and she was rather disappointed too.

Yelp
This place was exactly what we were looking for!! Inexpensive, great for novice "hikers" or your everyday Joe Schmoe. Adult & kid friendly, even though we didn't have children in tow, we saw several families with all ages (including a dad with a kid on his back in cool looking backpack setup) along the trail but some areas may require a helping hand. The trails are in a boardwalk fashion but there are several areas, including 3 surface caves where you are free to deviate and explore. There is a more in depth tour that costs $90 per person and you get into a cave suit with helmet and mounted flashlight to explore areas not available to the regular trail but we opted for the regular $16 pass. Inexpensive at $32 for both adults together considering we lingered for a little over 2 hours on a trail that is roughly 1.5 hours if you take your time. There are several areas that have natural rock formations that resemble certain things and it was fun trying to find them with the help of the signs. There is a numbered map that you follow to each destination and once you get there, there is a information box mounted which sometimes has a set of binoculars and admittedly limited information posted about that particular area. Regardless if it was very informative or not, it was a great adventure spot, we had a great time exploring, and we got some great photos, including a baby snapping turtle making it's way down the granite to some water. It's a little over 20 minutes from Lake George and has a very laid back feel to it. Once you leave the gift shop/check in area you are basically on your own for the remainder of your adventure. Obviously this is great for the majority but keep a close eye on your adventurous kids and those friends/family that like to test boundaries and patience. You can definitely get seriously hurt venturing off trail to get those Instagram quality photo moments as there are slippery rocks along the river and falls, steep granite slopes near the whirlpool area, and large roots that creep up from the ground and overtake terrain. Staring at your phone to take a photo in these areas resulted in a couple "HOLY S#*!" moments for myself. You don't want to fall in this water folks, there are small leaches in certain areas and stagnant water pools in others. Some caves look so tempting with the water entrance looking like an arch to a secret underworld, but one look at the water makes you realize that's a secret best left kept.

Yelp
Completely disappointed. What was advertised is not at all what it is. The pictures on the pamplets shows people going into a cave but all that is allowed is for people to stick their heads in to view it. you do not whatever get to step into the cave at all. someone here mentioned you can walk 30ft into it, that must've been years ago, cause that's not allowed anymore. It's just an overpriced hike over some stones and view to see a riverbed. They really need to change the name of the place cause there are no caves to be seen and you pass over one pathetic bridge, totally misleading.

Yelp
I was initially disappointed because I thought I was going to see a remarkable cave with stalagmites and stalactites. Boy, was I wrong there! We went hiking for a nice 90 minutes and then I asked where the cave was and my boyfriend replied "that was it." But why four stars then? The hike was so cute! The falls and stream and rocks were fun to hike around. This is a great area if you have kids. I wish I wore sneakers but they even had rental sneakers available! The staff was very friendly and I had a great time.

Yelp
We went during a crowded time of day- but this was our first trip so I'm not sure if this is common around noon. We brought a picnic and had a lunch outside. We went after a lot of rain, but all the trails were open except through the waterfalls- but we were able to look into that area! My 5 and 7 year olds were able to navigate everything independently. The views were beautiful!! We will be going back- especially to check out the waterfall trail!

Yelp
It's not cheap, and it's not Carlsbad Caverns, but worth a visit. As others have stated, a bit too commercialized for my taste. Minimum footwear recommended is sneakers, but light hiking shoes would be better. You should be somewhat nimble to navigate the well-groomed trails and rocks. They have educational/activities for kids, but our schedule didn't allow time for that. Figure an hour to walk the grounds, add more for activities and heavy photography.

Yelp
Loved coming here as a kid!!! Visited here as an adult and it was still amazing. I personally think their prices are a tad high. Don't really like the idea that they are the only Disc Golf course in the area of Schroon Lake and you have to pay to use it and it's not that good of a course.

Yelp
This was high on our list of places to go while on Lake George area. It was only 1/2 hour away from our hotel and was very reasonably priced. At first my husband found it funny to pay for a hike and to look at nature but once we started on our way he was cool with it. The trails are nice. The caves and river are amazing! Bring camera batteries ..many photo ops! ! The hike was about hour and a half but you could take as long as you like. Great activity! !

Yelp
One of the most amazing places I have visited. Get there early enough to give yourself plenty of time to do the trail and really look at stuff. I did it in about 90 minutes and only because I rushed through the last 30 minutes. A sufficient amount of time would have been 2 - 2 1/2 hours. The place is breathtaking and full of so much history and education. It is also a really good workout as there is a lot of walking up and down trails and nature made stairs and rocks. The views are breathtaking. Really inexpensive for such a great experience and their website offers $1 off per person coupons. You must wear rubber soled shoes, not just because they tell you to but because you really do need to wear something that gives you traction and grip as the stones can get very slippery. Also, take a walking stick at the beginning of the trail. You can bring lunch to eat in the picnic area. Don't drink too many fluids before you go though, they only have one bathroom and it is at the very beginning of the trail. Would definitely return and do again!

Yelp
I made a Yelp just to write this review. My friends and I took our vacation to the Adirondacks in search of fun, adventure, and the breathtaking beauty of nature. This attraction offers none of the above. The fact that this place charges you to waste your time to follow small trails that show you parts of nature that could be amazing, if you were actually able to experience them is laughable. The only demographic I can see this being worth it for is young parents who are strapped to infants, but I bet both parties would still be bored. Take my advice and go to a national park and hike there, it's free and more beautiful than this place could ever hope to be.

Yelp
We hardly ever get to see such natural wonder. The self-guided tour was challenging but doable.
