This museum was awesome. Admittedly my partner was the one who wanted to go here, but I had a lot of fun. Lots of cool history and objects/art. Loved the escape suit for submariners. The building itself was also neat, it was old and really pretty and well maintained. Entering the museum was the only weird part because it is on a military base you have to sign in and enter through some intimidating gates. But was well worth it

A well maintained museum giving us a glimpse of Canada's Naval History. In a country where many celebrate the forces and their sacrifices, the museum showcases the many battles, ships, submarines, equipment, men and women of the Canadian Navy. Photographs and artifacts from years past are preserved and showcased. The building itself is in side the Halifax DND site and has enough parking right in front of the museum. The building itself is not accessible because of its 200 year old heritage making it difficult to renovate. The lawns have radar antennae and guns displayed. There is no entry fee but a donation is appreciated. The wonderful staff is at hand if you have any questions.

Fascinating museum with models of ships, archival photographs, paintings, and some surprising artifacts (like the 1889 Cartridge Machine Gun).

A beautiful museum with a dedicated and caring staff. The collection is well-curated and the stories told reflect the honour and service of those prepared to sacrifice for the greater good. The staff take a personal interest in visitors and their devotion to the navy is evident. The building is breathtaking and is maintained with pride. Thank you for making it well worthwhile to visit from Alberta!

Love the museum. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were clean. There is a lot of navy history here and is worth a visit. It is by donation which is nice. I recommend going if you can. The only downside are the operating hours.

Worth a visit if into naval history. Parking was unclear as signage is very limited. See photo for location of the visitor parking lot. 3 hour limit which is plenty of time to see the museum. Two restrooms are upstairs.
