Naveta d'Es Tudons

Interesting stone monument located a small walk from the main road. Monument itself is situated within a walled area accessed through a field which has livestock so something to be aware of. No toilets/cafe etc although some picnic benches located my the monument on the outside of the wall. Plenty of car parking and a gated entrance with a small hut to obtain info and pay for admission.

Man, I got lucky. The first customer of the day, beating a coach party by 20 minutes. Very pleasant receptionist. Site very clean and tidy. All nicely laid out and posted. A 400 metre, easy walk to the chamber, which is quite something to behold. A small, sheltered, picnic area with benches for those needing sustenance.

The Naveta d'Es Tudons is a spectacular and well-preserved example of ancient Menorca. This impressive stone structure, dating back over 3,000 years, offers a fascinating glimpse into the island’s prehistoric past. Getting there is easy and convenient, there’s a parking area right on site, and it’s just a short 5-minute walk along a well-marked path to reach the Naveta. The peaceful surroundings and clear signage enhance the experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the site and its remarkable construction.

For anyone interested in bronze age humans this is a vitally important site. It's very simple but a perfect example of a funeral chamber (upturned ship). Pleasant walk from the car park which is clearly marked off the highway and some picnic benches under the trees. It's free on Mondays, small entry fee otherwise.

They charge you very little to gain access. Very helpful and informative young lady in ticket office. AAAA++++

You have to be a dedicated historian/ archaeologist, keen explorer to enjoy the very exposed walk from the car park to this monument. It's not particularly rough terrain but there are few times of the day when you won't feel the onslaught of hot air and sun. Be warned the crickets have ownership of the field you're walking through. I'm not bothered by them jumping across my path, though young children might yelp in surprise. The written blurb at the entrance and on the boards is quite dry and bland. I'm none the wise how the naveta was really used because you cannot really see inside it though the barred opening. My daughter was disappointed and so was l..

Cool to see the pre-roman Taliotic history of Menorca. This burial site is between 3/4 thousand years old and is worth a visit if passing, the signs give great detail about the site. Also worth noting that a visit on a Monday or Tuesday is free (otherwise €2).

Fascinating ancient building / burial chamber. It was free entry the day we went, with free parking at any time. I like how it is totally uncommercialised , a few explanatory boards to make you aware of it's history and left to wander around without restriction. You can't enter it but can see inside through the entrance with the aid of a torch. Half hour is plenty,, it's right on the Me-1 so a place to visit on the way to or from elsewhere (it's very close to the Ithaca quarry) but well worth the stop.
