Naxos, Greece, Is Often Overlooked by Tourists, but It Has Some of the Best Beaches in the Country — How to Visit

"Find more high design at Naxian Collection Luxury Villas & Suites, situated near Agios Prokopios Beach. The resort, as its name implies, offers private villas and suites, each with a contemporary Cycladic aesthetic. However, if you're looking for privacy, level up to a villa, which comes with private pools and breathtaking views of the sea. Guests can also indulge in all the resort's high-end amenities, including spa services, gourmet breakfasts, and private excursions." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Not a luxury experience at all! - Stay away from this hotel! I visited Naxos for vacation with my family and we thought we would have an amazing and luxury experience, but the truth was far from that! The walls of our villa were full of damp and mold, which made the room feel unhealthy and poorly maintained. On top of that, the air conditioning wasn’t working at all, making it very uncomfortable, especially at night. We repeatedly asked the staff to fix that problem but they weren’t able to find a solution for the first 3 nights of our stay. At our last day, they offered to install a new A/C, in which we agreed, but because we had suffered a lot, we requested a partial refund. We also requested to speak with the owner but he has nowhere to be found. Overall the whole experience was very disappointing, considering we paid a large amount of money to stay there. There are plenty better hotels in Naxos, don’t fall for their scam!!

Disappointing Stay – "Luxury" in name only I rarely leave reviews, but this stay was such a mess that it feels almost irresponsible not to warn others. We had high expectations based on the hotel's "luxury" branding, but our experience was anything but luxurious & we left a day sooner, sadly forfeiting a hefty amount we paid per day Right after check-in, we discovered that the air conditioning in our room wasn’t working. Not ideal when you’re exhausted from travel and looking for a bit of rest.We reported it immediately, and while staff did come to address it, they had to return twice over two days just to flip the breaker and get it functioning—hardly what you’d expect at this price point. The room itself showed clear signs of neglect: broken toilet seat, a bad smell in most rooms (staff eventually put a whole bunch of wall plugins to help) rust stains on the floor, patchy, uneven paint on the walls, and an overall worn-down feel that didn’t match the hotel’s polished photos. The worst part were the mattresses in both rooms in our villa. The master bedroom mattress was clearly worn out and on its last leg. The staff turned it ipside down to enable us to sleep atter the 1st night of discomfort. It felt like a property relying on appearances rather than actually delivering quality. What made it worse was the staff. Most seemed either untrained or unprepared to help. The front desk staff, although, friendly, weren't empowered to solve problems & messed up basic reservation requests. We really wanted to enjoy our stay here, but the combination of poorly trained staff, maintenance issues, and lackluster service made it frustrating from start to finish. For a place that markets itself as upscale, the reality felt like a low-budget motel trying to pass as something it’s not. To make matters worse, no one in the hotel took any responsibility! For the rates they charge, guests deserve far better.

This place is a true head-scratcher but it is not by any means a luxury hotel and is certainly not worth what they charge. For starters there is no real hotel lobby. Just a front desk. All the staff walk around in jeans or unmatched outfits. When we checked in we were brought to a $400/night room that was infested with flies and I mean infested. Large flies all over the place and gnats flying around the kitchen window. We went bezerk at the owner manager who tried to tell us that the hotel is in the trees and bugs were invetable. We said you must be delusional. He sent in housekeeping woman who started swatting bugs with a rag and plugging in some sort of citronella plug in device to which we said no way we can stay here. We had prepaid for four nights. Owner then came to us an said he had an upgrade room for us which was a 2br 2bath duplex villa with private pool. Same price he offered. We took it. But the notion that anyone would pay such prices for what this was is unreal. Let’s start with the villa. Very stark and ugly furnishing. Table and chairs that might be in a holiday inn room. The shower temperature fluctuates in both bathrooms. There is no hook for a towel. There are no drawers to put your clothes away. There is no full mirror in this place. The pool is nice but freezing cold. We got a windy day and there are slamming shutters all night which kept us up. The dining area online in pics must be virtually staged because the dining area has that same awful holiday inn stuff in it…and flies. The breakfast is put out at 8:30 which is a bit late and no fresh fruit and awful coffee and alls served by a kid in jeans and sneakers. We are sitting there in a breakfast too that felt like a bed and breakfast dining room. The coffee maker in room worked on and off and there was no milk but we asked and manager brought. We were offered a & $60 pp bbq dinner but that would have been 3x the price of amazing meals we had in town with perfect views. Here the bbq is in picnic tables with no view. There is no microwave to heat things and very bare bones kitchen utensils. One would never cook anything here. Rent a car is very easy brought to and from hotel and you will need it to get anywhere. This is not an island to wait for taxis and the car was $150 euros for four days. The room has a nice view out to the sea and is well perched atop a hill and it’s a ten to fifteen minute walk to charming beach town BUT when we were in that town we saw many hotels right on the water that looked way better than this place. And one of them that we went to for real coffee had a much better buffet and even a self-serve coffee machine that guests were using and the beach was at their doorstep. One other thing is that the town with beach is a ten minute walk but there are no sidewalks and road is narrow. So bring a light that is bright and stones if you plan on walking at night. We were told to go to their sister property if we wanted lounge chairs in beach but we passed as the restaurant there had only so so reviews and we are not sit in the sun people. We hiked mt Zeus and that was a true highlight of the trip. 35 minute drive each way. As we checked out the owner asked me about this review. I told him i would edit it to the extent of saying that they made it much better by giving us the large luxury villa but again there were too many BUTs about even that place. For what we paid the large villa was worth it but if we had adhered to rate for the original room we would have likely bailed out sooner than later for a place on the beach. When you see the SLH brand you assume luxury. This place felt short

Rooms lacked amenities. No drawers, or places to hang towels or put belongings. Sheets had stains, bed springs were broken and furniture was old, uncomfortable and stained. They lacked hospitality in asking us how our stay was at check out or helping take our luggage. It was far from luxury stay. Old, dated with minimal lighting. The only thing going for it was proximity to the best beach.

We had reserved a room for 6 nights but left after 1 day: I had totally overlooked one tiny detail in the room presentation … “semi-shared” pool. So we were basically sharing our unit’s pool with our next door neighbors. If you swam 4 meters to the other end of the pool you’d be facing their own door, window and small patio. The pool being right off our 2 doors. Not at all the privacy and quiet that we were imagining upon reserving, reassured by the 650 EUR night rate. We basically felt besieged in our own room (which was large and came with a hip, modern design and super comfy bedding). Also, the house we were in also came, alongside our “pool-sharers”, with noises from another unit above: very poor noise insulation. After we complained, the hotel owner (whom we never met although I’m pretty sure he was sitting on the bar’s sofa when we left), proposed a deal (via the very polite manager) which we took, but averaging out the hefty total amount this was (easily) the most expensive hotel night I ever paid for (far above Maldivian levels). As for the view, yes we saw the sea in the distance but there was also another hotel unit smack in the middle of it, below ours (see pic). Friendly staff, delicious fresh and light food but again, not at all what we had in mind and absolutely not worth the price. You’ll be fine if you reserve full villas, but they’re quite close to one another, do expect noise from your neighbors. This being July in Greece, we felt very lucky to find another accommodation with a real, unobstructed seaview. And 0 noise. And a pool fully to ourselves. But I regret my money bitterly and this sad saga perturbed our vacation and very much dented my trust in Small Luxury Hotel offerings.

Nice location not on the water but walkable to Agios Prokopios. They can arrange a car for you. Breakfast was great. We had dinner the grilled octopus was delicious. They have an extensive bar, especially for whiskey and bourbon lovers. We had a share pool, which we had all to ourselves.|Only issue was our coffee maker was broken and had water in it, that I cleaned out to find out it didn’t work. Would recommend.

It might have been a luxury when it was built some years ago. The living room has a concrete bench with two pillows on each side. There are no cushions, so sit on the concrete seat if you want to watch TV. The place needs updating, especially the dining table. There is only one port in the bedroom to charge your devices. The shower/steam room needs updating because steam is wearing down the shower floor. The phone never worked. We walked to the front desk to resolve any issues. The toilet stopper needed repair; water continuously ran unless you giggled it. I gave it a three instead of a two because the breakfast and the person behind the counter were great. When they found out we would not make breakfast because of a tour we had, they put the buffet out 30 minutes earlier so we could eat. Though unable to resolve all the issues, the on-duty staff responded and showed genuine concern. We got some compensation for the issues we dealt with through a lengthy discussion at checkout. What is most frustrating is that this hotel did not have a manager to talk to at prime checkout time. The person checking you out “has no authority” to deal with issues. I don't understand why you would not have a manager on duty during the morning check-out times.|Because I pushed the issue, a manager called and showed up in about 20 minutes. This wait put our schedule behind.

Hotel is beautiful. The service is top notch. However, you need to take a taxi everywhere. If accommodating. ooking g for a relaxing time this is the place to be. Good liquor selection and a 20 to 30 walk to the beach. Their on call taxi driver Petro is the best and very informative accomdating. Their tour guide Costas is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and will greet you with a smile. I'm forgetting his name but the waiter is the most humble and gracious man I've met my entire trip.
