"Greece Is the Word For many travelers to Greece, there’s a conundrum: Do you concentrate on the mainland—Athens, Delphi—or do you spend your time cruising the islands—from fashionable Mykonos to holy Patmos? With Grand Circle Cruise Line, you don’t have to make that decision. The first week of the 15-day Treasures of the Aegean: Greek Island Cruise, Athens & Istanbul itinerary includes the monasteries of Meteora, perched atop rock formations; the town of Kalambaka, Thessaly, where you'll discover a Byzantine tradition when you stop at an icon-painting workshop and meet one of the artisans; and the majestic ancient sanctuary of Delphi. Then you depart on a cruise to the Aegean’s most beautiful islands aboard a 50-passenger small ship. You’ll call at ports including Amorgos, Delos, and Naxos, where you’ll sit down for an island dinner with some of its residents. While you'll be following the routes of ancient heroes, Grand Circle assures that travelers also experience modern-day life in the country from those who live, work, and play here. Exclusive Discovery Series events take you deeper, show you more, and give you an unfiltered look into daily life whether you’re dining with a Greek family during a Home-Hosted Dinner, or participating in a cooking class in the mountain village of Arachova. Sponsored by Grand Circle Cruise Line"

Came here on holiday for four nights with my partner and really enjoyed it. Stayed at Plaka Beach We hired a car (highly recommended), and followed the suggestions of the hotel to visit Alkyo Beach and then Agiassos Beach for a swim and lunch under the trees overlooking the water. A visit to the former capital of Chalkio was great, and nearby Filoti. The rental car company delivers the car empty of fuel, and you are meant to return the car empty. That’s a bit of a con, how much fuel will you need? Not much as it turned out, a lot less than we put in anyway. Agreat island to visit. If you like my review, please “like” it so others can benefit. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

Nice town with some beautiful beaches and the water is crystal clear. Parking is difficult to find and it is very busy.

Beautiful island with beautiful beaches and clear water. For help everyone can ask me where to stay and eat. Please avoid to rent a car if you live in centre because they don't have parking space. When you need just go and rent a car. Please remember that the car must be dry inside because they will charge you 200 euro. But is great place for families and couples.

Beautiful, quiet island, especially in the winter. There are lot's of local agricultural products, like famous Graviera cheese, wine and fresh fish. White sand beaches are found on the one side of the island. There is a small airport but mostly boats are the main transportation way. It's very close to Paros island and some other islands make it ideal destination for a combination of various islands vacation. In the summer it's very crowded but I personally believe this Aegean gem is a whole year destination.

Naxos is a Greek island in the South Aegean, the largest of the Cyclades island group. Its fertile landscape spans mountain villages, ancient ruins and long stretches of beach. The namesake capital (also called Hora or Chora) is a port town filled with whitewashed, cube-shaped houses and medieval Venetian mansions. Kastro, a hilltop castle dating to the 13th century, houses an archaeological museum.

Delightful place with lots of lovely narrow houses and corridors. Worth to take a walk without a plan and be surprised by its charm.
