Best mountain resort food I've ever had! Forget the standard fare of burgers, pizza, sandwiches and salads, enjoy Snowbasin's take on Austrian/Bavarian specialties such as veal or chicken schnitzel, beef stroganoff, grilled bratwurst, and German meatloaf.
My bf and I shared the veal schnitzel ($15) and beef stroganoff ($14). Each plate was served with choice of mashed potatoes, German potato salad or spaetzle, sauerkraut with bacon, carrots and a bread roll. It was delicious, hearty, and comforting! Between the two dishes, the veal schnitzel was the better dish. I really liked the crispiness of the schnitzel, while the beef chunks in the stroganoff sauce were hit or miss with some chunks tender and others tough to chew. The sauerkraut was good, saved by the addition of bacon, and the seasoned carrots were very tasty. Even the spaetzle was cooked well; they were very soft considering it sat on a cafeteria hot plate all day.
I also bought a cup of hot apple cider for $2. It was the perfect drink to warm me up.
Besides the food, the dining room furniture and decor was classic and elegant with a beautiful panoramic view of the mountain. If only it were snowing that day...
4 stars!
