The Needles Lodge looks like a five star luxury resort with ornate gold platinum lampshades and big wooden beams and huge glass windows and it’s a pleasure to be in however the food is pretty basic. It’s good for families and quick homely snacks such as burgers and chilli bread bowls . If we have paid $162 and that’s with a discount to go skiing for one day you’d expect the food service that’s slightly higher quality. however the setting is really nice and pretty if I was a resort owners I would get a new food third-party company in. However, the snow melt spiked 5% does help. It was a lovely venue and great for families. The staff were really nice and lots of people around cleaning the tables. So well done there. Unfortunately the food quality could do with a little improvement. But I would return.

We rode the Gondola up to Needles Lodge for Sunday Brunch. It was a wonderful buffet with Breakfast and lunch options. My favorites were the prime rib, Mac and cheese, Eggs Benedict, and fingerling potatoes. There was a beautiful view and the Lodge itself is very pretty. I can’t wait to come see it in the winter.

What an AMAZING experience!!! The gondola ride up and down was cool but the Sunday Brunch experience was amazing!! Yes you pay $$ but the views, customer service, food and spending time with family are priceless. Food was great and we enjoyed it. The Salmon was cooked prefect, all the food we tried we all thought was great and the desserts were yummy. The Bread pudding was so good!! We sat outside and the weather was perfect and the views were amazing. The overall service was AMAZING and AmberLynn was a blast. She spent time with every table and suggested items, drinks and places to take pictures before heading down. We enjoyed our conversations with her and she did a great job checking on us regularly and making sure everything was good. If you get a chance, DO THIS!!!

**Needles Lodge at Snow Basin - A Perfect Mountain Retreat! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐** I recently had the pleasure of dining at Needles Lodge, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! After an exhilarating ride up the tram, I was greeted by breathtaking views that set the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. I opted for the healthy bowl featuring sweet potato and quinoa, and it was absolutely delicious! The combination of flavors and textures was delightful, making it both a nutritious and satisfying choice. It’s evident that the kitchen prioritizes fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the presentation was beautiful. The lodge itself has a cozy, inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a day of outdoor adventures. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was top-notch. Whether you're hitting the slopes or just looking for a serene place to enjoy a meal, Needles Lodge is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for another delicious bowl and to soak in those stunning mountain views!

Google
Lodge is beautiful. Staff is friendly. Price for portion is a joke. This is a 1/2 Strawberry salad ($7) after dressing being mixed in. It's smaller than the palm of my hand, the lettuce & contents don't even touch the side of the container. Chips n salsa are the best deal at $6. Beer is expensive BUT GREAT. No more BYOB &/or food since the Olympics were here, horrible, then these prices??? Robbery... SNOW IS GREAT THOUGH!!! Beautiful day & they're doing a great job of social distancing. We haven't waited more than 10 min in line & we've had our own gondola each time (they ask preference). Not all people in line are as respectful of social distancing as others. NP, I have no time requesting it of them.

Brunch at needles is a fun experience. The food was great quality, and everything tasted amazing. If you are gluten-free, they do label the food. The views are stunning. I recommend the watermelon margarita. Cocktails are not included with brunch. That's when things get more pricy. Patio seating is beautiful but can get windy before noon. After noon, wear sunscreen or get a table with an umbrella in summer. After brunch, go for a nice scenic walk around the mountain. Wear appropriate shoes if that is of interest.

The absolute BEST grilled cheese I have ever had! And the most beautiful clean bathrooms! I loved the cozy feel and with amazing views. This place is wonderful!

Okay wow. I barely have words. Sunday brunch is out of this world! They have so many stations , you are sure to find something for everyone! The Brussels, biscuits and gravy, cracklins, and prime rib were my favorite but honestly I didn’t eat a single thing I didn’t like! if you can get reservations here, do it! IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! The service was phenomenal as well. they have a dessert table (I loved the pistachio cupcake), they have a charcuterie station, omelet station, carvery, and several other stations just full of food. everything seasoned perfectly and all perfect temperature wise too. A lot of times at buffet style brunches, things are soggy or cold or taste like mush of flavors, but not snowbasin. They had people changing our food frequently and it showed! The only tiny downside is the alcoholic drinks weren’t that strong but it’s Utah and to be expected so no worries there. The view is also amazing if you’ve never eaten up there before. The patio was great and had good shade where needed. I wish snowbasin did this brunch all year around because it’s an actual gem.

Yelp
Loved this place so much! The food was delicious. The gondola ride amazing, and great live music & craft beer! Loved the whole day and would highly recommend spending a Sunday in the summer at Snowbasin. I really want to give this place 5-stars but there was one thing that was just...disappointing. Our table. I made the reservations a month in advance dance with a specific time and outside only. When we arrived there were so many 4 top tables outside available with a beautiful view and warm in the sun (as the mountains are still a bit cold at the top) I asked if we could move and the hostess informed me that they were fully booked and had to availability to move us. I understood, thanked her and went back to our table that was freezing cold in the complete shade and the view of a wall, door or window to the inside. However as we stayed there for at least 90-minutes I continued to see ALL 4 tables remain completely open. It just made me sad as I specified on the reservation that it was my parents first time visit Utah and dining on top of a mountain and I just wanted to give them a beautiful breakfast with a view. I received the beautiful breakfast but I was shorted out of a view.

Andi S.

Yelp
Both the beef and vegetarian burgers were shockingly dry and served on stale buns. The texture was mealy, and no amount of condiments could salvage them. While the service was impressively fast, considering the crowd, and the views were beautiful, the premium setting didn't justify the $20 EACH. These burgers were far worse than what you'd expect from a drive-thru. Skip the burgers, they're not worth it!

Ben S.

Yelp
$4.95 for a teeny, tiny cup of coffee??!!?? Sure prices of food and beer is high but this is not where you should price gouge paying ticket holders. Chilli was good and an appropriate size. Beer is the price you'd expect.

Anthony K.

Yelp
Great ambience. The sidebar has a great mountainside view with large windows. You do have to take the gondola up there. But if you're not skiing or mountain biking, you can take the gondola back down. They do during the summer they do brunch, you must have a reservation to ride the gondola for free

Wallace W.

Yelp
While skiing today, I and my friends stopped at the Snowbasin Needles Lodge for a quick break and bite to eat. At $8 the pizza price was a bit pricey, but then, again, the opportunity to get something or eat at 9500 feet in elevation is worth a great deal in itself. The servers are pleasant and best of all, there is a bar with a killer view overlooking the Huntsville valley below. And for $10, one can get a high point beer for the same price as a grocery store strength beer at the bottom lodge. Their cocktails look great too. They have two water dispensers in the seating area and nice hard plastic cups that they wash after each use. In the summer they serve a decent brunch too. It's a treat to have such a nice facility available for a mid day lunch and drink on the slopes.

Yelp
The Sunday Brunch here is well worth the drive and cost! The Gondola ride up is beautiful with great views of the mountain and pine view reservoir in the valley. The restaurant is very nice, spacious and very clean. The patio outside was great even on a warm afternoon it was very comfortable. The staff and our waitress was spot on. When you needed anything they were right there. The food was excellent for a buffet. The omelette station was really good and made to order. The wide selection from prime rib, Turkey breast to salads and scones was delicious. If you want a nice and memorable day out, I highly recommend this. We absolutely loved it!

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance. The lodges here at SnowBasin are the same as in Sun Valley,Idaho . Trying to get 1 slice of pizza was a chore. They had one guy making salads and he was in no hurry to serve pizza to anyone. Waiting 10 minutes and finally walked off . That area was pretty understaffed. Had breakfast at Earl's lodge . Very limited selection. Had the " Egg McMuffin " . It was precooked and the bacon was soft and soggy . I was really surprised at that given the upscale ambiance of the lodge !

Sarah H.

Yelp
Went into needles for a little lunch break/cocktail time while skiing. As a group of four, we were greeted but told to wait until a table is ready, when visually there were many open tables that were already set. Finally sat down. Waited 30 minutes for our drinks and had to ask to put in our food order. Thought this would be a quick drink and snack, in the end left 2 hours later. If you want to ski all day this is not the place to go for a quick bite and drink.

Michael R.

Yelp
World-class dining with incredible views. You take a gondola to the top of the mountain to access it. I visit frequently in both the summer and winter for an experience beyond just the food. In the winter they operate both a cafeteria and a full service bar. In the summer they have a brunch buffet on Sundays and a lunch cafeteria on Saturdays.

Brooks R.

Yelp
I've visited this lodge in the summer and winter and every time I go, it blows me away! The summer brunch is 10/10 with stunning views and beautiful weather. Don't even get me started about this lodge in the winter. It's the perfect place to grab a drink or something warm to eat and cozy up next to the fire. Everyone is so kind and the staff is helpful, can get a little busy in the winter weekends but they still get the food out fast!

MaKayla M.

Yelp
This is one of my most favorite escapes in Utah. For brunch in the summer or food in between laps in the winter - the views and eats can't be beat.

Tim O.

Yelp
This is an on-mountain dining experience with few peers in North America. For $17, you can get a smothered burrito that is comparable to any elevated Mexican dish. I would struggle to call it expensive, and anyone doing so likely hasn't run the gamut of trying to satisfy a massive appetite at pretty much every major ski resort in the US. Sure, this is still cafeteria style dining that is a notch below what you can find in the Alps, but it's dang impressive. The pizza and salad also were best-in-class. Anyone calling this food expensive or mediocre, please cite your sources.

Yelp
This review is for the Sunday brunch buffet at the Needles Lodge up on the mountain. We had reservations and glad we did as it got so packed, it was fun taking the gondola up the mountain to see some great views. It was a little chilly on top though. We picked indoor seating, had the weather been a little warmer outside would be a nicer option. Lots of food stations throughout the lodge, my favorites were the crab benedict, steamed salmon, brussel sprouts, omelet, couscous, and peach cobbler. What was sad was the prime rib was cooked extra well done and very dry you can see in the picture. Service was lacking as we rarely saw anyone come to fill drinks or take away plates and since there were 6 of us in our party they automatically received a healthy tip for next to no effort on their part. When we took the gondola down the mountain there was a BBQ and blues festival happening and also looked fun. For sure will be back.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Pricy, as expected, but well worth it to dry off, warm up and grab a drink/bite. We just got the nachos and they were really really great. The bartender made a great chocolate/coffee cocktail for me and my boyfriend just got a beer. Beautiful area to sit, take a breath, and really appreciate the views

Kaitlin J.

Yelp
Amaxing views, fun gondola ride. Great buffet with great service. We had the best time. it was definitely pricey but also an experience we'll remember.

Claudia S.

Yelp
Awesome place to eat at surrounded by beautiful views all around. You can eat inside or out on the patio which is just gorgeous. We were there for the Sunday brunch, reservations needed. Price for adult was $47 , youth (6-11) $22 and 5 and under eat free. This price includes coffee, soft drinks and the gondola ride you take to get to the lodge. Quality and choices available were superb and menu changes weekly. Service was great, bathrooms were very clean.

Yelp
I had such high hopes for the food here! My husband came here 4 years ago and couldn't stop raving about the food and the facilities. At least the facilities maintained a high level of standard. I guess that should bump up this star rating. If only we could say the same for the food. I ordered a bowl of vegetable soup. It's not like I went outside for a stroll with it. I went straight to the cashier, paid, and found a table within minutes. It was lukewarm at best. I went directly back to the soup station and it was kindly replaced with a creamy French onion and mushroom soup. It sounded pretty good! I went back to my table. This one was piping hot as they did place it in the broiler to melt the cheese. I took one sip and almost spat it out. It tasted like vinegar! I gave some to my husband who also thought it was disgusting! I went to search for the restaurant manager at this point and he was cordial enough. He offered to go taste it. You know what? He said that's how they make it! Are you for real? To make things worse, he asked me if I've ever had French onion soup before!! Are you freaking kidding me??? Damn right I've had French onion soup! Have YOU?? Cuz clearly you have no CLUE what it should taste like. The best part was when he explained how they use wine and reduce it with onions. Well what kind of nasty wine are you using to produce THAT strong of an ACID flavour? Blech. My husband ordered a gyro. It was passable. The only good thing were the fries. What happened to the five star meals? Ugh. So disappointed. One star for food and the interaction with the food manager. An extra star for the server at the soup station who was very nice. I'm struggling with a third star for the facilities but the lunch experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Literally.

Yelp
Came here towards the end of the day, so not much was open. We wanted a little snack, and ordered the chicken loaded nachos which was delicious but didn't give enough chips. Ordered the Apple Cider, but it tasted like hot water, maybe it was empty and towards the end of the day? Price for what you get, but it's a resort so expect it. However, still love the atmosphere and relaxing vibe of the upper dining hall. Fire place was only turned on, on one side, but still enjoyed it. It was definitely a slower day as it was snow storming outside.

Christian W.

Yelp
The Prine Rib was dry, and the Potatos Au Gratin were rubbery. Stars given for the friendly staff and good service, as well as the nice location. I would come back to snowboard here and to have apres drinks, but the food left me underwhelmed so I wouldn't recommend eating here.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
I was so excited to try the brunch buffet here! They had so many fun stations and lots of food. They even have a cool eggs benedict station and they did it well. I opted for a regular eggs benedict and they poached the egg beautifully, the hollandaise was on point and the english muffin was crispy yet soft. It was made to order so it did take a minute, but they literally make it in front of you. There was an omelette and crepe station. I didn't do an omelette but the crepe was awesome! They had fresh fruit and salads and one side had sausage, bacon, ham, roasted brussel sprouts that I loved and these freakin amazing orange glazed green beans. Then the dessert table was on another level. So many mini desserts to try and yes, I tired them all. Since they were mini i could try all of them and go back for the ones i really needed another serving of. Not only was the food amazing, (I didn't feel ripped off after I left) but you are at the almost top of the mountain. The ride up is spectacular, as is the ride down. I would recommend wearing something comfortable and some hiking shoes as there is a half mile trail that goes to the very top of the mountain and you can look down into Ogden. I am taking one star off because even though it was a buffet so we served ourselves, we did not get our own drinks and that was pretty slow. I waited before getting foot but after waiting over 5 minutes and no dice I got a plate, finished it and still had to wait as no one had come over yet. Even with that slow part I would highly recommend. There is a multitude of variables that could have caused the delay so I would definitely do this again and take hiking shoes. The staff was very nice and once they got to the table they were very attentive.

Cynthia L.

Yelp
Best mountain resort food I've ever had! Forget the standard fare of burgers, pizza, sandwiches and salads, enjoy Snowbasin's take on Austrian/Bavarian specialties such as veal or chicken schnitzel, beef stroganoff, grilled bratwurst, and German meatloaf. My bf and I shared the veal schnitzel ($15) and beef stroganoff ($14). Each plate was served with choice of mashed potatoes, German potato salad or spaetzle, sauerkraut with bacon, carrots and a bread roll. It was delicious, hearty, and comforting! Between the two dishes, the veal schnitzel was the better dish. I really liked the crispiness of the schnitzel, while the beef chunks in the stroganoff sauce were hit or miss with some chunks tender and others tough to chew. The sauerkraut was good, saved by the addition of bacon, and the seasoned carrots were very tasty. Even the spaetzle was cooked well; they were very soft considering it sat on a cafeteria hot plate all day. I also bought a cup of hot apple cider for $2. It was the perfect drink to warm me up. Besides the food, the dining room furniture and decor was classic and elegant with a beautiful panoramic view of the mountain. If only it were snowing that day... 4 stars!

Yelp
WEDDING VENUE REVIEW: I can't speak to the food here but I recently attended a wedding ceremony held at the outdoor area for Needles Lodge and it was one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever attended (and I've been going to a LOT of weddings.) PICTURE THIS: We get ready downstairs at Earl's Lodge at the base of the mountain and then get our gondola tickets (Printed with the "[Bride] and [Groom] Wedding"- keep it for the scrapbook!). We take a 30 minute gondola ride up the mountain, all while exclaiming (OMG, this is beautiful, is this real life? this is unbelievable! take a picture!). Wedding happens, everyone cries, guests get some champagne, bridal party goes downstairs in the lodge for pictures, guests take another beautiful (but slightly scarier) gondola ride down to the reception at Earl's Lodge. CEREMONY: Just gorgeous. A trellis (?) (arch thing with flowers) stood at the edge of the patio, and behind the happy couple you could see a mountain a gorgeous views all around. Not too long of an aisle to walk down. Chairs set out for about 100 people. Programs were fans which was a genius idea for the hot day. FUN FACT: The gondola fits up to 1 bride in a giant poofy dress, and 6 friends holding giant bouquets, AND allows for amazing selfies. PRO TIP: Make sure you don't forget the poem you're reading at the bottom of the mountain, because the gondola ride takes a while and the flower girls are going to start walking down the aisle soon and Verizon doesn't get reception for you to google it (thank god someone else's phone carrier does). WARNING: The last gondola ride down was 6pm and incurred a large fee after. The bridal party barely made this, so watch the clock! Highly recommend if you can afford it! Absolutely stunning! *See also review of Snow Basin Resort for the Reception review!

Yelp
The views at this lodge are incredible as are their facilities (the bathrooms are extremely fancy!!!), not to mention the amazing gondola ride that glides you to this beautiful place. However, the food was underwhelming for our group. Despite the menu sounding exciting, the buns fell apart on our $15 hamburgers, the meat seemed cheap, and sadly they did not have much flavor. The cafeteria style setting is conducive for groups and overall it was a nice experience, but I hope they improve the quality of their ingredients.

Scott R.

Yelp
Fantastic views with a nice rustic ambiance. New menu with burgers, gyros, salads, and similar fare. Definitely not German. Creative burgers but they lacked flavor and sauce to make them memorable. In short, it's like the food at your uncle's BBQ: cheap ingredients, generally flavorless, but you enjoy the location, and there's something for everyone to eat. Note: we came on the first day of the summer season, maybe they just need some time to find their groove.

Amy M.

Yelp
The ride on the gondola and the view is spectacular but for the money the food was fair at best..service was very slow..never did get my drink. Coffee took forever and the food was very average for its waaaay too inflated price. Go for the scenery skip the brunch

Matthew L.

Yelp
Really an amazing place. The food is amazing and they have anything you could imagine. The service is great. Everyone is so friendly and quick to make your stay the best possible. My only complaint is that they don't have enough umbrellas for when it rains. Since it's the top of a mountain I would think this is important. Only sit outside if you know for a fact it won't rain. Otherwise wait to sit inside.

Jess N.

Yelp
We made the trip up the mountain to attend the BBQ and Blues concert. What a beautiful day to have music outside. The views are pretty from every angle. We didn't plan the trip for enough time to go on the gondola ride to the top. I need to save that for the next time! We had the BBQ carved turkey plate that came with the corn on the cob and coleslaw. This was definitely a meal for two. Plus a few bites from our friend who needed to have some after we were raving about it! The plate of food probably weighed a couple of lbs. The chalet itself is really large and very welcoming. The bathrooms were very elaborately decorated. I felt rich and sophisticated just washing my hands! The columns inside were huge timbers. They were each about 9 foot in circumference. Lots of windows and seating for those looking to relax or eat in larger groups. There were quite a few tables with umbrellas outside too. A perfect place to have the music as ambience as you dined with friends/family. They do have an ATM with a small fee. For this event, they had 4-5 stands outside with additional food and drinks available for the large crowd. It was fun to watch the kids rolling down the hill and the large amount of dogs in the crowd.

Yelp
Best lodge in all of Utah's many ski resorts. Great food awesome atmosphere. Location Location Location

Kerrie F.

Yelp
food was good but the older cook guy spent a lot of time getting after the younger cooks for not communicating orders right but he was the one we told our order to and he kept getting it wrong. it was a little awkward otherwise it was great. beautiful and great ambiance:)

Taurie A.

Yelp
First time at Snowbasin today and we ate at Needles Lodge because of the beautiful Gondola ride up to it. The ambiance and decor was amazing. The food is a bit pricey but it's in line with what you would pay at a resort. My only complaint was food quality. I had the nachos and they were pretty horrible. They used shredded cheese which was oily and didn't melt properly. Just avoid the nachos all together. My husband had a chicken pita and he said it was tasty although it wasn't a stuffed pita. The toppings were on top. My instructor said the burger is really good so maybe next time I'll give that a try.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Today was my first visit to the Needles Lodge Dining Room and it was exceptional! The service was friendly and quick and the food was absolutely exceptional and delicious! I will be returning regularly!

Candy T.

Yelp
I just love this lodge! On top of the mountain great view going up. Food not too bad, a bit pricy but above average quality food. The resort is absolutely a must see. Very comfortable ski/snowboard resort to check out, even if its just for lunch!

Henry S.

Yelp
Closed on July 5 for private event.. even the ski lift was private only. Bad strategy!

Jc C.

Yelp
Many different foods price is a bit high that's because it's a resort. Concerts and venue is nice.

L C.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch in summer - the gondola ride, the views at the top and the lovely lodge are all outstanding. The buffet is extensive but the food needs some work. The only two egg options were soggy eggs Benedict oddly make with roast beef and a pinkish sauce and an omelet station where every omelet was delivered over cooked and rubbery, even if you requested soft eggs. At the dessert table the soda pop tasting creme brûlée lacked the sugar crust and the chocolate mousse cup was rubbery and flavorless. More tasty offerings included the berry crepes, freshly made waffles, smoked salmon, spinach salad and fresh fruit and berries; if all the food were as good the buffet would match the quality of the beautiful surroundings.

CL L.

Yelp
My husband, my in laws and I went to the Sunday brunch recently for the 2nd time ever. The first visit was really wonderful. I wish I could say the same for our second visit....the food was not replenished EVER, the crab claws weren't really crab claws, they were mini snow crab legs...and when I say mini, I mean teeny tiny little legs (smaller than blue crab legs). The house smoked salmon was dry and little was left at the start of the 12:15 p.m. seating. The carved meat was horrendous. Who cooks a prime rib all well done through and through? It was tough and had absolutely no flavor. The meat was on the same table as the omelet table and crepe table. There was no room to set the au jus lid down anywhere. There were 2 young ladies working the crepes, omelet and carving station. Those ladies really worked hard. There were long lines to get any food. They ran out of plates. They were extremely under staffed, hence the piles of dirty plates that weren't being cleared, drinks weren't refilled and if you needed anything from your waiter/waitress, you'd have to ask at least 3 times before you got what you needed. For the price, I'd expect at least better service. I do not recommend brunch here. Save your money AND time.
