I absolutely loved Neighborhood House when my now 24 & 23 year old kids attended. I also attended from 3-6 years of age back in the 70s! Being a single working mother, this was a place I felt very comfortable with the staff and students of this school. Times were tough, and the donations that were made to help families came at the right time! As school was starting, they took the students shopping for new back packs, school supplies and uniforms. This helped me out tremendously and we were all so thankful! At Christmas, they even took the children to shop with a cop and Jazz Bear and we had the best Christmas ever!
At one point in time, I was behind on my payments. It was impossible for me to catch up. I was $600 in arrears. I did not even know how I could even come up with that kind of money. If I didn't pay, then my children would not be able to attend any longer. I was lost and all I could do was pray.
Later that week, I got a call from the director who called to say that an anonymous donor had came into the facility and wanted to help any working parent who was down on their luck. They happened to pay off my balance!!! I was so blessed and thankful for this person and always wished I could have thanked them myself! I have such gratitude that I made sure to pay it forward later in years when I became financially stable.
If it wasn't for Neighborhood House, I would have never been able to work to support my family and have a career today.
Thank you very much!!!
