On the Grid : Neighborly

"Neighborly resulted from Jenny Beorkrem, the designer behind the famous neighborhood typographic maps called Ork Posters. She started this retail store to connect consumers to other Midwest artisans she had met since starting Ork. Neighborly is a highly curated retail store that offers Mid-Century style home accessories and artwork that reflect the urban, Midwest lifestyle. They focus on well-designed utilitarian goods from local or eco-friendly artisans. From pillows to kitchen accessories to greeting cards to ceramics, they have something for everyone. It’s a great place to pick up something for your home or a gift for a friend." - Knoed Creative

Quality handmade goods that make beautiful and thoughtful gifts. An awesome place to go for cards, candles, baby gifts and more. They had a beautiful collection of Chicago art posters too.

Loved this place! Wanted to get some Chicago stuff while visiting, for friends. They have so many nice stuff - pictures, planters, clothes, games and other gifts. Ended up buying a couple of Chicago posters, a tote bag, and a T-shirt. The unisex tshirts are tricky in size, just fyi.

I was looking for things that I could buy and give to my friends and I found this store. This is actually a small store just around the neighborhood. I always see this store whenever I passed by in here but I never had the chance to go inside. The store was perfect definition of clean and organized. The store was clean and bright and everything was organized and separated according to their purpose. I went to the right store because they have interesting items like home decors, some cosmetics, accessories and the likes. There are also locally made products like mugs and such that are Chicago-themed. The items in the store are really perfect for gifts that is why I am so happy. Prices are fair and reasonable too which is a good thing because I bought more than I expected. The staff inside was friendly and helpful too. I recommend this store. A good choice when you are also looking for gifts!

Absolutely lovely shop with all kinds of things you can find to gift others, yourself, or your neighbor. Some are local handmade and others are global products. You can find pottery dishes, exotic syrups, recycled wine glasses, unique planters, baby clothes, creative Chicago posters, handmade jeweleries, and more. There is something for a wine or alcohol lover, Chicago fan, and women accessories. Don't forget to check their unique cards and it is a neighborly thing to do to remember others!

Loved this place. Lots of local & unique gift items like soap, home goods, & Chicago themed stuff. Friendly service. They also gave me a gift box & tissue to wrap my gifts, which was nice. I got some handmade soap, a neck scarf & a candle, all from local vendors. Due to covid, they only allowed a few people in at a time, which was great. They’re taking all the safety precautions. Will definitely return.

Yelp
I've wanted to stop in Neighborly many many times, only to be thwarted by parking in Lincoln Square, or the times I've been able to find parking it has been early and the store wasn't open. Yay for Apple Fest, I was able to stop on by! They had a small booth at Apple Fest but I'm glad that we were still there when the store opened because as you may imagine, there was quite a bit more in store. They feature local artisans and lots of Chicago merchandise, from clothing to artwork. I bought baby's first hoodie here because it's super cute with the Chicago flag and everything! The staff were really friendly as well and happily they take digital wallets. Next time I have guests, this is the shop I'm going to suggest to them whether or not they think they want souvenirs, because they have a lot of great stuff here. I will definitely return as well because they have some lovely items that can work for home or as gifts. I especially would like to find a onesie or t-shirt for my daughter that has the Ork Posters (who own Neighborly) neighborhoods image on it.

Yelp
I've walked by Neighborly many times but never went in, until the recent Small Business Saturday and the upcoming Christmas holiday enticed me to enter. I found a variety of unique items, in a wide price range, that I think would appeal to anyone who enjoys beautiful, unique items. I can hardly list everything I found in this small space --- kudos to the store staff, who somehow manage to keep everything displayed beautifully and organized so well that, even on a busy day, there is still enough space to linger and examine every item. There was jewelry and candles and pottery and all sorts of things. I don't know for sure, but I believe most everything sold here comes from local sources. There's no problem with the supply chain here, friends! You can enjoy the browsing experience in person and be rewarded with something special. If you prefer the ordinary and boring, Neighborly may not be for you. It's not a chain store that brings in junk made abroad. It's much, much better than that. I bought two small trays featuring an image of Mr. Rogers that read, "I like you just the way you are." I can't wait to give that to my dear friends. It's a little, useful thing that, I hope, will remind them, every time they see that tray, how much I care. You won't find anything like that at Wal-Mart. Spend your gift budget at Neighborly. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Great shop! They handle covid really well with a literal lightbulb that lights up to let you know when you can come into the store. The inside has sanitizer and masks even??? also the inside is how clean I wish my house was at all times... and then I also want to decorate my house with everything in the store as well! I recognized some pottery from local artists I knew as well and the whole store just fits in very well in Lincoln Square to me. Definitely enjoy it! The only thing I would recommend is more plants!
