On the Grid : Nelson the Seagull

"Nelson is our regular lunch spot when we feel like eating a little more healthy. They make their own bread, which is the basis for most of their dishes. And it is insanely good. The sandwiches are massive and packed with fresh ingredients, and the 'grilled cheese' is a revelation: melted cheese and tomatoes on toast (pictured). Simple but amazing." - Louder Than Ten

Nelson & Seagull has a cute ambiance with plenty of space and great natural lighting, making it a comfortable spot to relax or work. The sourdough bread is decent, though it lacks the strong tangy sourness I prefer from my favorite spots in the States. That said, it’s still a solid option for Vancouver. The coffee is not bad, and the overall vibe makes it a great place to chill, enjoy a slow morning, or get some work done. The WiFi is fast, and the spacious layout means you won’t feel cramped. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a cozy café with a relaxed atmosphere!

Lovely little cafe. A bit overpriced for what it is though. Grilled cheese and peace ricotta toast were light snacks to start the day. Coffees were nice. A little cleaning up would’ve made it nicer, but that’s more on patrons that the place since you sort of bus your own table after.

Stumbled across this cafe last weekend while in the area and loved it. The cafe/bakery is quite small so seating was tough to find however it was comforting to know that people did not mind sharing tables with you when asked. My husband and I ordered the grilled cheese with a side of soup (soup off the day was ginger and carrot), the poached egg on sourdough toast, a flat white and americano. The sourdough was delicious and they also had small pastries at the front but we were too full to order more.

Went on a whim since it was a 20 min from our hotel . It’s in an area that might be a bit dodgy but the cafe itself has a nice cozy vibe . We got two of the sandwiches and a few pastries . Felt like the sandwiches were lacking a bit more depth in flavor , but overall happy with the quality of the bread and coffee . Would have rated a higher but just a simple sandwich

The toasted seed sourdough is so good!!! Got there before 8am and just got the sourdough, and it was still warm, fresh out of the oven. I love the flavor of the sunflower seeds, it was so good I just started snacking on it. Wish they could slice it in store too, as it was quite hard to cut up myself.

Super experience at Nelson the Seagull Cafe. Wonderful beverages and a delectable assortment of pastries, breads and other foods. The space is quaint, cozy and inviting. It's tiny though. I couldn't find a seat for brunch on a Sunday so you know it's popular. The coffee and bread was awesome. The service was very helpful and friendly. 5 x ☕☕☕☕☕

Best bread in town, being from the Netherlands and grown up on eating bread with a grandfather that was a baker, I think I can say this honestly. I come here every time now i visit Vancouver, outstanding.
