Very interesting historical site with several well preserved buildings, a small museum, harbour mouth fortifications and a hiking trail. The Copper & Lumber Store Hotel is a business on its own, but its possible to get inside and visit a part of it while walking around the dockyards. There are quite a few pretty boats to see as well, but I suppose that varies with who's visiting.

This place was absolutely amazing. Antigua is a beautiful island. We spent 7 days here and had so many adventures. The sailing was great, snorkeling was phenomenal, and the people were kind and helpful. We have already booked a return trip! Nelson’s Dockyard has a lot to offer in the way of tourism. So much to see and do. Make sure to visit Shirley Heights and the Blockhouse when you are on this side of the island!

Beautiful. Amazing culture to be found and we found wonderful restaurants, Pillars and Boom Hotel. This place was amazing even in the quiet season. I dont think we'd have got a seat in high season so we were very lucky to go at the time we did

A definite to visit whilst in Antigua - completely restored world heritage site with good facilities, restaurants and stalls. $15 US entry fee per person.

The entrance fee $15 US per person covers not only this area but the entrance to Shirley hights museum and overlook if you do it on the same day. It's nice to wonder around but it's pretty commercialized

It is $15 US to enter. However, this grants you access to four places in the area which is worth it (15 minute movie on the history of Antigua, Shirley Heights). The Dockyard has a museum and it looked like a restaurant that was empty when I visited. Not much boats were there at the time. Parking is available.

I could so easily live here. It's a beautiful place and interesting too. Small museum. Gorgeous scenery and a very nice, historic little bakery.

Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua is a true gem of history and beauty, offering a fascinating glimpse into the island’s colonial past. Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nelson’s Dockyard National Park, this restored Georgian naval dockyard is the only one of its kind still in use today. The dockyard is beautifully preserved, with its historic stone buildings now housing museums, boutiques, restaurants, and even a charming hotel. Walking through its grounds feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by the rich history of the British Navy, including its connection to Admiral Horatio Nelson, who was stationed here in the late 1700s. The marina is a stunning backdrop, often filled with luxurious yachts and sailboats. Visitors can also enjoy breathtaking views from nearby Shirley Heights or explore hiking trails in the surrounding park. Whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a picturesque spot to relax, Nelson’s Dockyard is a must-visit destination in Antigua. Its blend of heritage, natural beauty, and vibrant atmosphere is truly unforgettable.
