We had an amazing time at Nelson’s Resort. We did a fly in with Brian on his float plane which was an incredible experience - I highly recommend it!! The rooms/cabins were a little dated and very simple - but we didn’t come here for the lux, it was about fishing and being in nature and that is what we got at Nelson’s. We used their fishing guide, Rick, who brought a wealth of knowledge about where the fishing spots where, what fish were active in certain areas for this time of the year, what lures/bait to use and we had great success! He cooked up some AWESOME shore lunches from our catches. And we were able to have the cook at the resort also make meals out of our fish. The cooks, by the way, were AMAZING. Every single dish was absolutely fantastic - so delicious! And the service you get from the family owned and operated resort was second to none, I can’t speak highly enough of how wonderful they were, as well as their staff. Their merch store was also pretty superb. Lots of cool stuff (none of that cheesy stuff) to get to remember your stay and keep the memories lasting.

Great place for a fishing getaway! Service is excellent, food and atmosphere is great! Nice bar and property. Fishing Guides are knowledgeable, friendly and make a great shore lunch!

An older resort on a beautiful lake with three rivers to also fish and access to another lake. Pros: Very friendly and kind staff. Restaurant on site. Cabin was clean. Quiet at night. Very good dinner at restaurant. Cons: No parking near cabin so we had to walk a distance and my husband is disabled. Our microwave was broken so we had to unplug it after each use or it would continuously beep. None of the staff seemed to know where to fish. I think this was so people would buy their guide service. People with cabins on beach took the beach over and it didn't feel right using it.

Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday after visiting Vermilion Falls and the visitor center in Crane Lake. We were the only ones in this family run restaurant. I suspect everyone was on the lake on such a nice day. The service was very good and we enjoyed our sandwiches. It is about 3 miles off the main road and a nice ride from Crane Lake. We would come back.

Went here after being recommended by a local. When we walked in we were greeted by a seemingly grumpy lady behind the bar and had to stand and wait for 15 minutes in the middle of the room. This would have been understandable if they were busy... but there was 5 tables in the entire restaurant. Overall food was quite overpriced. My boyfriend had a chicken sandwich which had no flavor and fries were frozen. My salad was fine, but comparable to the same thing from Culver's. Our grasshopper tasted like blended ice (not cream).

I've never stayed in a cabin but I've had dinner there numerous times over the past 10 years and the food is delicious and the service and atmosphere is phenomenal!

The cabins are basic but the location is beautiful. Also, the restaurant is really good.

Had breakfast on Mother's Day. It was very good. We practically had the place to ourselves. We felt bad that there wasn't more business.

Yelp
The only reason why I'm giving this place two stars is because of the employees are friendly and helpful and the food is good. The cabins are comfortable. Now here is the bad. The prices are not as quoted because they add all kinds of extra hidden charges to everything. This was our third fishing lodge we have been to and it never experienced this at any place else before. We rented a boat for 2 days and upon check out the next morning we found out there was a charge for over $200 for damage to the motor that we did not do. The owner said one kind of motor damage and the dock worker said a prop was chipped. It never happened I was in the boat for 2 days we never hit anything. We were not informed the guide service would not include gas or the $7 a dozen minnows we used or the $7 box of worms we didn't even know the guide had. No beverages were furnished at all which is the first I have ever experienced on any guided boat Trip. Upon check out we were charged $145 service fee. Apparently that includes tips for non-tipped workers the problem is we tipped everybody out of our own pockets. We even tip the cook and the dock workers. That service fee also includes firewood which I'll be damned I ain't using firewood in June. It also included upkeep of The kayaks and the canoes which we didn't even use or didn't even see for that matter. As friendly as the staff was the ownership was just as unfriendly. They treated us like ghosts like we didn't exist. It would have been nice to have been acknowledged. They have an attitude like don't speak unless you're spoken to. I was at the bar trying to get a drink and couldn't even get acknowledged. That was by the owner's daughter. Before you go to Nelson's you better get a quote on every single penny. Because they will give you all kinds of hidden charges.

Yelp
This place is a great vacation spot. Food was top-notch in the onsite restaurant, wait staff is great, quick, and attentive. Cabins were nice and roomy with beautiful lake views. Had an amazing time here. The fishing was great and our guide (Troy) showed us all the great fishing spots on the lakes and made sure we had 4 out of 4 good days, including cooking lunch everyday on whatever island we decided to stop on. We caught lots of fish and and had a great stay. Would recommend to anyone. Good job, guys!
