Best fishing trip I have ever been on. Fishing was fun. Food was top-notch. Their guides were great. Highly recommend this place. I will go back!

Nelsons is a very authentic resort, with real character. Food is great, and the prices are ss good as anywhere on Crane. We have had a cabin on the lake since the 60's, and its always our go to for dinner, drinks, or to walk the beach when we have company. We've had many friends stay there, and it is a class operation in a perfect setting.

Such a wonderful, peaceful, scenic place to relax. The only thing we would have changed would be to stay longer than three nights! Incredible lakefront setting, delicious and plentiful food, and pleasant staff with a rich history. Loved our cozy cabin in the pines. Great tours by Voyageurs Outfitters just down the road by boat into Voyageurs NP and by canoe into the boundry waters. Truly an amazing stay!

Amazing place to do something different. We fished before lunch and then our guide cooked the fish we caught for lunch! Amazing place and amazing people. If it had been any hotter we would not have been happy in the heat from our cabin but it was tolerable.

We stayed in Third Beach, the little waterfront cabin with a screen porch. Cabin was clean and cozy. Wish we had brought candles or a lantern, for evening time in the screen porch- but pretty much all else was included in our furnished cabin.| This resort offers a premier spot on the lake, easy access into other lakes, The BWCA, and into canada. Staff was friendly and helpful. We asked for firewood for the fire ring and it was delivered in 15 min! Likewise, v helpful staff to assist when we rented the pontoon. Each cabin has a weber grill, bring your own charcoal and starter. We had dinner in their dining room and were quite impressed- v good food for an up north, remote restaurant. Salads were fresh, walleye v good, as was the pasta. V nice wine list, v reasonable prices throughout their entire menu. Also, a full service bar for a beer or cocktail, as needed. If Im in the area I will definitely return here for dinner! Also would return for cabin rental, without hesitation. Dogs allowed, resort closes for winter on Oct 1.

We enjoy visiting this gem every summer for family time at Crane Lake, to take in the views, eat drink and visit with long time staff, and to listen to music by locals and of course Crane Lake's piano man! Love it here!

Friendly employee staff and good food but that was about it. We were looking for a semi annual place to stay and fish. The owner claimed we damaged the boat we rented. We did not. They added a service fee to our bill. Supposedly to help pay the staff. That they should pay out of our rate. We tipped the staff excellently. No lower than $25 each time. We did better fishing by our selves than with the guide which the pricing was not all inclusive. Charged for minnows and worm we didn't even know he had. The owners charged us all in all about $650 in extra expenses we didn't know about including the supposedly damaged boat. The ownership was not friendly. Employees were great though.

Amazing experience all around at the restaurant. Beautiful view, outstanding service, delicious food. We had appetizers, main course and desserts and everything was excellent. Oh, and the bread basket—it’s to die for. And, mind you, I’m a foodie and have high expectations for my food. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
The only reason why I'm giving this place two stars is because of the employees are friendly and helpful and the food is good. The cabins are comfortable. Now here is the bad. The prices are not as quoted because they add all kinds of extra hidden charges to everything. This was our third fishing lodge we have been to and it never experienced this at any place else before. We rented a boat for 2 days and upon check out the next morning we found out there was a charge for over $200 for damage to the motor that we did not do. The owner said one kind of motor damage and the dock worker said a prop was chipped. It never happened I was in the boat for 2 days we never hit anything. We were not informed the guide service would not include gas or the $7 a dozen minnows we used or the $7 box of worms we didn't even know the guide had. No beverages were furnished at all which is the first I have ever experienced on any guided boat Trip. Upon check out we were charged $145 service fee. Apparently that includes tips for non-tipped workers the problem is we tipped everybody out of our own pockets. We even tip the cook and the dock workers. That service fee also includes firewood which I'll be damned I ain't using firewood in June. It also included upkeep of The kayaks and the canoes which we didn't even use or didn't even see for that matter. As friendly as the staff was the ownership was just as unfriendly. They treated us like ghosts like we didn't exist. It would have been nice to have been acknowledged. They have an attitude like don't speak unless you're spoken to. I was at the bar trying to get a drink and couldn't even get acknowledged. That was by the owner's daughter. Before you go to Nelson's you better get a quote on every single penny. Because they will give you all kinds of hidden charges.

Yelp
This place is a great vacation spot. Food was top-notch in the onsite restaurant, wait staff is great, quick, and attentive. Cabins were nice and roomy with beautiful lake views. Had an amazing time here. The fishing was great and our guide (Troy) showed us all the great fishing spots on the lakes and made sure we had 4 out of 4 good days, including cooking lunch everyday on whatever island we decided to stop on. We caught lots of fish and and had a great stay. Would recommend to anyone. Good job, guys!
