On the Grid : Neon Parc

"A commercial gallery run by Geoff Newton, Neon Parc has been representing both established & emerging Australian artists and showing international contemporary works for a decade. During the time that these photos were taken the gallery was exhibiting the work of artist Dale Frank, who was also showing at the gallery's new space in Brunswick. Enter the CBD gallery via the laneway that runs between Bourke St. & Little Collins. If you can manage to disengage briefly from whatever brilliant work is showing at the time be sure to look down at the rather remarkable terrazzo floor too..." - Grosz Co Lab

The exhibition was one tiny room and it was nothing special. Around 4 things in total. The websites blatantly lied and advertised an exhibition in japan in their photos and described them too instead of what it really was going to be. I waited over 2 hours to just walk in and walk out (like the other 4 people in our viewing group). Never again.

I want to balance out the 1 star rating from 5 years ago. Bugging the hell out of me.

Yup, things hidden in laneways and at the top or bottom of stairwells seems to be a signature Melbourne move. Neon Parc is no different - though here you won't be imbibing hipster cocktails or molecular share plates. Nope, here you can get your peepers around some art and play that game of "If you had a spare $10,000 which piece of art would you buy?".
