This Small Town Is the Pumpkin Capital of the World

"I learned that the Libby’s plant in Morton cans most of the world’s pumpkin supply, and that production is central to Morton's reputation as the “Pumpkin Capital of the World.”" - Karthika Gupta Karthika Gupta Karthika Gupta is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys writing about brands and products in the outdoor, lifestyle, beauty, and travel space. You Can Likely Trace Your Pumpkin Pie Back to This Small Town

"At the LIBBY'S plant in Morton I learned that more than 100,000 tons of pumpkins are processed there and the operation produces enough canned pumpkin to enrich nearly 72 million pumpkin pies annually; the company sources from fields to the factory within a 50-mile radius to keep pumpkins fresh, minimize the environmental footprint, and support the local economy, and it emphasizes deep roots in Illinois and partnerships with farmers to implement more sustainable growing practices." - Tori Allen

Nestle Buys Starbucks’ Packaged Coffee Business for $7.15 Billion | Eater

"The multinational food company, which generated roughly $91 billion in revenue last year and is best known in the U.S. for candy bars, has long been a dominant global coffee player through its instant-coffee brand and related businesses. After divesting confectionery assets to refocus on higher-growth categories, it has been building its coffee portfolio—recently taking a majority stake in a specialty roaster and spending $7.15 billion to acquire another major coffee retailer’s packaged-retail lines—with the stated aim of combining its coffee brands (including instant and capsule formats) and leveraging global distribution and responsible-sourcing capabilities." - Daniela Galarza

I have lived near the Nestle plant a long time and have never heard the trucks being dragged like they have this year. It happens at all hours of the day and night and is very annoying almost as much as the truck drivers blowing their horns all night long. Which happened a few years back. This might sound like it's petty but maybe they should get better truck drivers or try to make a bigger lot to drop their trailers.

This isn't a tourist location, or somewhere the average person can go to buy products, but they do employ lots of people, and help keep the community afloat. Thanks Nestlé for keeping the business local.
