Neuer Zollhof

I visited the place because of the buildings of architect Frank Gehry, as I know only his "dancing house" from Prague, where it is a symbol of modern architecture of the 90s. The middle house with its shiny metal facade reminded me of the dynamic sculpture "Franz Kafka" by sculptor David Černý, which I also know from Prague. So I felt at home here. The trio of houses in Neuer Zollhof look very complex and the area as a whole has a very fresh and airy feel.

Neuer Zollhof, located in the Media Harbour district of Düsseldorf, is a remarkable architectural landmark designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry. Completed in 1998, this trio of buildings is a stunning example of deconstructivist architecture, characterized by its unconventional shapes and dynamic forms. The three buildings, each with a distinct facade, are clad in materials like stainless steel, white plaster, and brick. This variety creates a visual spectacle that changes with the light and weather, making each visit a unique experience. The wavy, almost fluid lines of the structures appear to defy gravity, offering a striking contrast to the surrounding modern buildings.

It is always a pleasure to see some architectural complex thought by an archistar. Frank Gehry is a master and this residential complex hardly can't be appreciated. The whole area is very interesting, I recommend to come and have a walk for all lover of modern architecture.

I had no idea this building was in Dusseldorf, I knew it was in Germany but was a very pleasant surprise when a walk around town took us by Mr. Gehry's masterpiece. The textures and shapes are breathtaking, especially on a sunny day. A sapphire sky gave incredible contrast. Just wow!
